The music industry people didn't always treat Michael right. They made fun of his look. They made fun of his skin color. And they even called him lazy when he was sick and he couldn't go on tour.

Sony was NOT right; not necessarily. Just because "You Rocked My World" was huge, that doesn't mean that "Unbreakable" wouldn't have been huge. "Unbreakable" could have actually won MJ an even younger and broader fan-base. There were so many great songs on that CD and it honestly could have been a huge success for MJ and Sony.

Despite MJ’s multiple talents, what attracted me the most about him was his capacity to reunite people from all races, nationalities and gender through his art. I was always impressed by his humility after all the awards he received. I hate how he didn’t receive enough credits for his humanitarian actions. This man did so many good things for the world. His heart was as big as his success. I really love his philosophy of life, he only spoke when he had something important to say about all kind of subjects. It really bothers that people want to focus about rumors from tabloids, his plastic surgeries rather than his messages of hope and love through his music.

So true. Also if they really wanted to talk about changes to Michael' s appearance, it should be done in the right way. Sure, ppl were curious why black man turned white or what happened to his nose. They should presented the truth as he became white because he had vitiligo. Not many ppl still these days know what is vitiligo. It should be professionally explained. Same with nose surgeries. The accident , surgery, more surgeries required. Instead they fabricated false sensational stories. Very low, disrespectful, disguasting picking on someone's health issues , turning it into something weird, gossips, laughable... Ppl who wanted to know the truth, knew but many just believed stupid fictional stories spreading by tabloids. By the way, Michael was kind of forced to explain those issues in several interviews. The interviewers kept asking and pushing the topics on him , what about skin, what about plastic surgeries, why he looks this way, not like 30 years before.. Well, Michael patiently answered those questions explaining his health problems but still it was not enough for ppl to believe. So disrespectful, low, stupid. It should be explained once, accepted and move on and focus on other most important subjects as you stated above.

That’s because good news don’t sell ^^ I guess that this is most magazines’ / newspapers’ philosophy, especially if they’re tabloids. Of course, it’s morally false and disgusting but a lot of people simply like to gossip... God knows why... maybe because of the distraction they get from their own lives?! ^^ -.- It is really upsetting - and if it is already for us, then I don’t want to imagine how upsetting it must have been for Michael.

When Frank Cascio talked about organizing some parties at Neverland without consulting MJ, he told more about himself as a person than MJ. I read his book and felt that I invaded MJ's privacy. He would have never allowed Frank and two of his body guards to write a book about him. The two bodyguards defended Conrad Murray and Mike Garcia exposed them for what they truly are greedy and immoral individuals. Did you read the bodyguards book ? PS: Your KZbin channel is dope.

When MJ died, I realized that he was surrounded by snakes. That rabbi who recorded MJ and made money on it after MJ’s passing is very immoral. He violated his duty as a religious man. When I saw that some people who were supposed to be his « friends » slandering his name ( Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie ), recording their private conversations with him and made money on it, I truly understand when he said that he didn’t know who to trust.

So many people twice your age don't even have the maturity and fair views you have, do don't ever lose that. Furthermore, throughout the video I kept thinking, "He's so strong!" because you state you're shy, avoid eye contact, and don't speak much in public (none of which is uncommon!), yet you're strong and ambitious enough to make these insightful videos. JD , great video. Some people really don't know the whole picture about Michael's surgeries, they have a common misconception about it, thinking that he just wanted to redo his nose again and again. that's not entirely true. his first nose surgery was due to his accident during rehearsal. he had to done 2nd nose surgery bcz the 1st one left him with breathing problem. in 1984, he was diagnosed with Lupus, a skin disease which produces painful rash and results in dead skin tissues and scars. Plastic surgery is kind of forbidden for the people with Lupus bcz it will create more dead tissues around those areas. but by the time of his diagnosis he already done his nose job without knowing that he had lupus, and his plastic surgeon never told him that. so, all his subsequent nose jobs were reconstructive, to get rid of the dead skin tissues. this was physically and mentally painful for Michael, not a hobby.

You are wise beyond your years dear boy! Everything that MJ endured was so heart breaking. It seems some people just wanted to add to his torment. For this I hope they rot in hell. MJ was such a great person all around both on and off stage and he should have been treated like the jewel he was. I feel lucky to have seen some of his shows and to have met him a couple of times...but I certainly miss him and love him and always will. The day MJ left was the day the music died. I hope he has found happiness, love, peace, and good health if he is still with us and if he is gone I know he has found these things in heaven.

Everything you said was on point and honest. I never knew MJ went through that on the set of YRMW. I love that song and still feel, Invincible was an underrated album. The director was a pompous bully imo. I'm not saying he had to kiss MJ's behind but he could have handled things differently. Coming from experience it hurts when you are self concious about something and then someone points it out. He didn't have to do that and I'm glad Marlon Brando cursed him out. Marlon was the man. I also always felt the leading lady didn't fit in with the YRMW video.Something about her was off. Now i know why, MJ didn't pick her. As for unbreakable. I don't think people would have felt weird because it's a hip hop song. Michael Jackson was very versatile. Real fans were excited whenever he came out with something because we knew it would be a hit. The dude could sing anything. He won a grammy for making an audio children's book. For goodness sake lol. +HIStory In The Mix Regarding MJ's breakdown on the set...It may have been painful to watch from Karen Faye' s perspective, but it was long overdue. After a decade of tabloid lies, character assassination, false allegations, 100's of frivolous lawsuits, struggles with Sony, serious health issues with Lupus/Vitiligo etc, it is a wonder MJ didn't blow up sooner! And so what if he went in the bathroom and started breaking things. He had to start letting off steam somehow, especially if they were interfering with his creative control. (I know you were not criticizing him - see my other comments I left for you on this video). In spite of all the BS, YRMW debuted at number one on the charts worldwide. And I believe MJ's disagreement with director for "Unbreakable" was due to creative differences. MJ had big plans for that video.

You did a great job with this piece and at first I felt at FIRST that by title I thought WHY repeat and spread news about Michael having a breakdown and at a painful point but I watched and listened and I must say I agree it actually shows how tough Michael was and how you said showing and reminding people he is human with feelings and that saying hurtful things to someone is not right. We should all learn to be more like Michael and just another reason he is a hero to me too. While I got to see all of Michael's videos as they were released I must say I agree with you that "You Rock MY World" was a amazing short film and one of my very favorites as well. You handled the report with love and respect for Michael and my initial fear that this video would be something not good to spread was wrong. I still love the short film "You Rock My World" though. @History in the mix....Loved your video. Love your stress cover picture too. YRMW is one of my top 5 favorite MJ short films, along with SC, WII, GITM, and Dangerous (not necessarily in that order). I thought MJ looked great in the Invincible era. I know he had a lot of issues he was dealing with then but he still looked handsome as ever. And I don't buy that stuff about him being unhappy with his female co-star, I've seen pictures of him sitting right beside her with their legs touching and he was very relaxed and laughing and cutting up and obviously having fun. And she is the same "type" as most of the females he used in BOTDF, ITC, etc

@History in the mix.....J.D. I wanted to say your analysis of YRMW was very insightful and empathetic. I think this is one of your best videos. If MJ seemed unhappy at that time it was probably due to Sony pressuring him to tour and cutting funding for Invincible. MJ wanted to stay home with his kids at the time. He had Prince (age 4), Paris (age 3), on the set of YRMW with him....and Blanket on the way (born Feb 2002) 3 months after Invincible was released. That is where his heart was at that time. By the way, for such a young person you have the maturity of a Capricorn....and the natural talent and star quality of a Leo....are you born under one of those Sun Signs???

Know wonder Michael was so pissed and hurt. They were forcing him to look black again; but knew he couldn't because of his Vitiligo. Something he couldn't control. Basically saying, we're ashamed of how you look. Plus he was probably already depressed knowing he would know have to deal with breathing problems due to all the nose surgeries. So this was most likely the final nail in the coffin before he snapped.

Lupus caused him insomnia due to an high rate of adrenaline, skin lesions, breathing problems, fibromyalgia, high fever, lung inflammation, hair lose. Lupus is a very painful autoimmune disease. Lupus attacked the healthy tissues of his face especially on his lips, nose and cheeks so he had to surgically remove the death tissus. Stress and pressure are aggravating factors so lupus must have been very strong in his last years. He even needed a lung transplant. His make up was like a mask to cover the consequences of vitiligo and lupus. It makes me sick that people made and are still making for of his appearance. MJ had a lot of courage and strength to fight against his autoimmune diseases. He was a warrior

By the description made by Frank Cassio , i would have loved to see how the Unbreakable short film would be done. Michael stated that he wanted it to be a "dance to never be forgotten" like his older short films like Thriller ,R.t.t ,Bad and more.

pipi pai Loved MJ, but he brought much if his issues on himself. His self-control & acceptance that he could do anything he wanted despite being warned about consequences, was what led to his untimely, but not surprising, demise. R.I.P Mike, but let it be a fair warning.

D Me He honestly lives in a fantasy bubble. If I was his friend, I would really feel bad for him and help him accept his insecurities and how harsh life really is. What I've read about him was he never really had the chance to be in touch with hard truths of reality. I really feel sad for him. I don't judge him though. I couldn't imagine what I would do if I was in his situation.

Thanks for sharing J.D. I was not aware of this incident during the filming of YRMW Anyway i wanted react to something you pointed out about why Sony didn't properly promoted Invincible. It was my understanding that while the possibility of touring in the United States played a role in the dispute, ultimately the fact that Michael told the head of Sony Music shortly before Invincible was to be released, that he was leaving the label. Apparently when Michael signed his new contract after Sony bought CBS Records in 1991, the length of the contract was till 2003. At the end of the contract, Sony would give Michael back the license to the masters of his albums. Sony obviously didn't agree with Michael. Michael kept changing managers in the 1990's and each of them kept renegotiating Michael's contract with Sony with the end result being that Michael's contract didn't end in 2003 as he thought. And Sony decided not to promote the album of an artist that is leaving the label. Hence why Invincible was poorly promoted. Now i know that you couldn't have put all of these in this segment but i was wondering to which extend you were aware of this.

Firstly 👏👏Fifth attempt at writing this.Youre bloody amazing for such a young person. That challenge thing sounds amazing and if it helps people that's awesome and to share it bravo.I know some things aren't easy to talk about but if there's an outlet great!.Dance moved hell yeah you got skills dude😀Love YRMW vid it's funny, well choreographered and I esp like the violence and confrontational parts of vid because I think it shows MJ more manly and primal. Also it has parts of Dangerous lives choreography and that in particular 1995 MTV awards performance was by far his greatest in my opinion. So sad this Paul Hunter,Trudy woman and Song were all just arseholes(was gonna be a lot more profanity laden but dialled back) toward MJ at this point it's just awful what he was subjected to.Thank god for Chris Tucker and MB.Great video my friend and again you're bloody amazing you should walk tall.Untik next time stay safe and take care 😀😀

For a young man, I thought you did a really great job with this video. I am old; the same age as MJ. About the only good thing about being old is, I was there when J5 began, and, I saw them in concert the summer before 9th grade. It was awesome. Michael was flawed, and what makes that so difficult to accept is that he is also wise beyond his years. No question he was a genius in many areas, very high intellect. We often speak of those who have disabilities having difficulty fitting in, it swings the other way, as well. It's just as difficult for those who have these talents and genius and drive to fit into the mold we think is the right one. Michael was teased by his abusive father about his "big nose." The kid, and he was a kid, was supporting the entire family, and at the same time, emotionally and physically abused by an overbearing father who was jealous of his sons' success, and also for not having the mother he trusted step in to stop the constant touring and recording sessions. She should have, as well as the people at Motown. Let the kid play for a few hours, then sing all night. Michael was not ashamed of being black -- I'm a white woman -- but he had vitilligo, and it was just one more thing that set him apart. Michael was a split personality. His dark side was very dark; his light side was very light -- not talking about skin color. I hope you will continue to be inspired by his light, but also be cautious about the darkness. I wish you great success. I have a feeling you are going places, young padawan.

Great video! I’d heard something before about Michael having a bit of a hard time making ‘You Rock My World’, but I didn’t know it was quite as bad as that. Btw, I get what you said about the director telling Michael “no” for a change in so many words, but the thing about darkening his skin and enlarging his nose would’ve only caused more problems I think, because it wouldn’t have matched his appearances in public at that time and so would only have led to more controversy IMO. Michael seemed to be having quite a lot of problems behind the scenes during that whole Invincible era, even some that we still might not know about yet.

Great video! Among other things, I want to thank you for including some information about MJ's temper. Some fans seem to think he was a delicate flower or a perfect angel but he was a human being, like all of us. Although he was generous, courteous, polite, and kind, he also had passion and fire in him, so sometimes he'd fly into a (justified) rage, as described in this video. I DON'T say that to be critical of him. I see him as a role model! But when fans choose to ignore the less savory aspects of his character, I feel like it dehumanizes him and turns him into a sort of mythical figure, which is something he never wanted to be viewed as. So, thank you so much for being honest and brave and telling us a story about his anger.

Thank you for this video. You are an inspiring young man, and i just wanted to leave a comment letting you know that despite some of the self esteem issues you mentioned, you are doing a great job in raising awareness! I also have really bad self esteem and this is one of the reasons i relate so much to Michael. I honestly really do feel his pain in hearing this story. But i think the way we can turn such a negative into a somewhat positive is to push forward like Mike did, focusing on our goals and overall message whilst ignoring those who try to bring us down. Keep up with the great vids :)

Wow....just wow. I have been researching MJ for two years. I have read two of his books with the intent of writing a book about him myself. This is the first I have heard about this but I have not yet read Cascio's book. I must admit this brought me to tears. I will never forgive the media, so-called friends and lovers who turned on MJ, lied about him, and crucified one of the greatest talents to ever grace the planet. I wanted to tell you I think how you put this together is wonderful. It was completed with objectivity and fairness. I hope you do more. My son started out like you, graduated with a film and arts degree, set up a business in CA with his girlfriend which thrived in the film industry. Unfortunately, his last work on production was "Sound City" with Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters. I buried him in a military cemetery in Riverside, CA 2012. I wish you well in going forward. MJ was stronger, yet more sensitive then anyone gave him credit for. His book of poetry is beautiful. However, many he trusted and loved broke his heart.

It broke my heart when I read that he was sobbing and saying "Would you believe it? They think I'm ugly? They want to remold my nose? What the fuck is wrong with me? I don't tell them how they should be! Fuck them! They think I am a monster! Though, I am a monster. I am a monster!" It felt like I was reading something from a book or fanfiction (reminds me of Brightheart in Warrior Cats now, actually, because half of her face was mauled off by dogs and felt like a monster "Look at me, Cloudtail! I'm a monster!"), but looking back makes me feel so much pain for him because I tend to think from time to time that I was a monster due to how people treated me, my pudgy and weird appearance, and my emotional and mental problems. I wanted to hug him and reassure that he was NO monster at all, but seeing that I was little baby at that time period, it wouldn't have happened for me to do that. I would have tried to hug him if I was there as an adult then. I'm kinda feeling like I'm crying in the inside atm -comes back with paper towel just in case because screw tissues and their soft, fragile texture-
