Fun fact: the "guests" were based on real people in MJ's life. Oprah (and other journalists), Macaulay Culkin, young Michael, Katherine Jackson, the "Mayor" is Tom Sneddon 🤬 the guy who spent over a decade tryna get Mike put in jail. And the face in the mirror when The Mayor looks into it is a major lookalike of Joe Jackson who also used to call him a "freak" as well as abuse him more emotionally and physically. Michael could always take the piss out of his situations though. Even smashing his body and especially his face up was him taking the piss out of himself and the whole "he changed his colour, then his face so much it was falling apart" BS. This is iconic, he IS a genius and I WORSHIP my boy, Michael Jackson! #ForeverMichael

Yes, very well said and accurate, but I have to disagree with the last statement of your comment. The whole "worshipping" thing is why people think MJ fans are crazy and I don't see him as a God or bigger than christ because nobody is bigger than Jesus himself. Just saying MJJ is still the goat, though!! 😉🙌🏽✨️💖💯🐐👑

As a 90s kid who grew up on the Goosebumps books by RL Stine, Ghosts always reminds of the tone of those books, a mix between horror and comedy, and its a shame that the original plan of releasing the short film alongside The Addams Family movie in 93 didnt get to happen (cos of the false allegations). So, yeah there is a lot in the film that is based on Michaels life and what happened to him and how he was treated. The mayor (who is played by Michael btw!! Thats him under a tonne of prosthetics!) calls him a freak, the parents think Michael is having a sinister influence on their kids, but the kids all have fun being around him, is more or less what happened to him in real life. I gotta say, as much as I adore Thriller, the dance sequence/choreography in Ghosts is just beyond amazing! Even Michael as the skeleton is phenomenal! The song in the video was '2 bad' from the HIStory album (Michaels defiance against people trying to bring him down) - the other songs were Ghost and Is it scary? which ended up on the Blood on the dancefloor album in 97

You got it, many of his songs have a much deeper meaning than what you hear on the surface. Mj was really good at telling a narrative through a love song for example but there are usually much deeper meanings.

Songs in this video, the order they were played, and the albums they're on: 2Bad (HIStory: Past Present & Future, Book 1; 1995) It features a rap verse from Shaquille O'Neal since he used to rap back then. Is It Scary (Blood On The Dance Floor, HIStory In The Mix; 1997). This is actually an early version of Ghost, the verses are the same, and both were recorded around the Dangerous Era (1990/1991) Ghost (Blood On The Dance Floor, HIStory In The Mix; 1997)

I actually got to spend 5 days at Neverland in 2002, and seeing MJ just be a regular dad was the most surreal part of the whole adventure (and believe me, the WHOLE adventure was surreal lol). I'll provide the details if someone asks for them, but FAR too much happened in those 5 days to put it into just a few sentences in this one comment. Edit: And just so you know, there was a movie star (my friend Chris Tucker - why I was there; we were friends before he was famous and we were supposed to be working - didn't get much done lol), an R&B star with a newborn baby (Brandy), and the kids who put MJ on trial in 2005 (the sister was my roommate at Neverland) while I was there. So yeah... My story is A LOT. Edit 2: It's ALL in the replies now.

@@averenti1483 OK... Here we go... I'll take you through the whole MJ experience, and I'll keep sharing if you keep asking for more lol. PART ONE: It all actually started a few months before Neverland (in March 2002). By that point, I'd known Chris for about a decade and we'd been working together to get some of his ideas down on paper for about a year. To say that Chris (CT) is spontaneous would be an understatement for the ages, so I was already accustomed to just bouncing with him at a moment's notice. One morning, I get a call to go to an airport in Van Nuys. Two hours later, I'm on a private jet (CT and I being the only two passengers) to NY. It's kinda weird to think about it now, but I didn't ask any questions. CT's life was so much different by that point in comparison to what it was when we first became friends (almost getting kicked out of movie theatres for having popcorn fights and him coming to my parents' house to go jogging with me) that I was just focused on what we were working on and whatever we were doing when we were together. If he had a reason to be in NY and he wanted to work on ideas in and around that, so be it. So we get to NY and we check into suites on different floors in the Palace Hotel (the "rooms" have one elevator, the "suites" have a different one.) When we go down for dinner in the lobby restaurant, I have to admit that it was more than a bit strange that the only people in there (outside of the staff) were us... and former president Bill Clinton (with his secret service detail). I knew that he and CT were friends, so I didn't think that it was a coincidence, but... still kinda weird to meet a former president and shake his hand as he says, "Hi. I'm Bill" lol. CT even joked that I would have to be his security if anything crazy jumped off because I was all he had... So I assured him that if that happened, his goose was cooked - because I'd be running in the opposite direction of whichever way he went lol. So Clinton finishes eating first and leaves, and then we do. As we head towards the elevators, I assume that we're just going back to our own suites for the night, but CT stops me from getting off on my floor, and then we don't get off on his either. Next thing I know, we're getting off on the top floor and then we're in Michael Jackson's suite and CT HAD NOT WARNED ME AT ALL! Bill Clinton is also in there and I'M SHOOK. TOTALLY SHOOK! I'm the only person with no business being in that room and just getting air into my lungs was becoming a problem. I'm introduced, and I'm sure I mumbled something, but I just wanted to escape. When the three of them started doing impersonations of each other, I made up some reason to leave (that I don't even remember) and BOLTED! So... This story is important because I had my wits about me by the time we got to Neverland, and I don't want anyone to think that I was calm, cool, and collected (despite having met tons of famous folks growing up in and around the industry in L.A. by that point) in my first MJ encounter lol. PART TWO: "Let's get away from everything and go to Mike's for the weekend." Ummmmm.... What?!?

@@averenti1483 PART TWO: Nothing MJ-related happened between that trip to NY and some day in June when, out of the blue, CT said the quote in the last comment: "Let's get away from everything and go to Mike's for the weekend." (Now, I obviously knew that CT and MJ were friends by this point, but I'd also been around from the days when CT and I were both just huge fans. For a stretch in the 90's, I was his go-to "date" for some "Hollywood" stuff because he knew that I wouldn't embarrass him by fangirling on anybody - and also because we were so firmly in the friend zone that I wouldn't read anything into it. When Magic Johnson opened his theatre, there was a huge party - not that either one of us expected it to be all of that because we regretted stuffing our faces with Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles earlier that day (the food at the party was insane and we just weren't hungry) before changing clothes and meeting back up - and the security was ridonkulous. We joked that they must be expecting the president, which is kinda ironic since Clinton was the president lol. Anywho, we eventually figured out that the security was because MJ was stashed in one of the theatres - and CT was determined to find him. So we started poking our heads here and there, but we never found him. When MJ finally emerged at some point to join Magic and say a few words, CT grabbed my wrist and dragged me through the crowd saying, "I've got to see this MF up close" lol. So it was still kinda odd to go from that to the quote about where to spend the weekend.) I took it in stride when CT made the suggestion because, as I said, his plans could change with no warning at all - and he also told me that I couldn't tell anybody - so I tried not to think about it too much. When the day finally came, he just told me to meet him at his house and that we'd go from there. I still wasn't believing it 100%, but off I went. When I got to CT's house, there was a huge bus parked in front of it (like a band tour bus), so it was starting to get more real; I knew we were going SOMEWHERE within driving distance. Inside CT's house, I was surprised to find three kids: Davelyn, 16, Gavin, 13, and Star, 12. I had no idea who these kids were to CT or why he was taking them with us to Neverland, but I'd find out soon enough. CT's assistant and his assistant's little brother were going too. I was kinda in my own world for the almost 3 hour drive to the Santa Ynez Valley, and kinda dumbstruck when we finally pulled through the gates of Neverland. I was actually there. I saw my first J-5 concert when I was 4 years old, saw the Jacksons and MJ multiple times after that (even flew home from college in TN TWICE for the Bad tour because MJ got sick in November and the last two dates were rescheduled for January) - and I was about to be the man's houseguest. Holy F***! PART THREE: Anything goes at Neverland 😁
@KB-xp6dq
@KB-xp6dq Жыл бұрын
@@averenti1483 PART THREE: Well… ALMOST anything goes at Neverland. Once inside the gates, there was some business to attend to before we got anywhere near the house (or the amusement park, theatre, zoo, or anything else that’s been on the news). Someone from the guard station boarded the bus. Anyone (including CT) over 18 needed to sign an NDA before being allowed any further onto the property. Of course I didn’t actually read it (who would under the circumstances? lol) so I’m just left to believe that I wasn’t supposed to talk to anyone (especially the press) about my time there (especially if anything would paint MJ in a bad light). After that, the bus went up the looooooong driveway (if you can call it that because it was more like a road) until it made a right. MJ’s house was on the left, the guest cottages were on the right (with the lake on the other side of them), and a fountain was right in front of us. Davelyn was my roommate (we were the only two females in our party) and everybody else bunked-in (nobody had their own room) to the rest of the cottages (with Brandy, her 4-day old infant, and her baby daddy having the one that wasn’t connected to our posse). Nobody (even CT) was a guest in the main house. In our room, Davelyn (Davie) told me how she and her brothers came to be on that trip with us (and I’ll try to condense it as much as possible). They met CT when they participated in a comedy workshop for kids at the Laugh Factory. Not long after, Gavin was diagnosed with a particularly nasty form of kidney cancer and the doctors thought it would kill him. His “Make a Wish” was to meet MJ, so he did. While I personally believe that CT and MJ would have met each other eventually on their own, Gavin was the one who orchestrated their introduction, so MJ and CT’s relationship was mixed up with that family from the start, so that's why CT brought them with us. When Gavin MIRACULOUSLY recovered (and I’m not being facetious in saying that; the kid really was at death’s door), he credited his friendships with MJ and CT for giving him the strength to keep fighting. So that’s that. It turned out that MJ wasn’t in town when we arrived, and since we were only supposed to be staying for a couple days, he wouldn’t be there by the time we left either. But Prince and Paris were there, and Bigi (Blanket) too - but the world didn’t know about him yet. PART FOUR: The sweetest kids ever!

Music and choreo by Michael Jackson, makeup effects by Stan Winston, and story co-written by Stephen King: a winning trinity. And for future reference, "Ghosts" along with the 2nd song "Is It Scary" (the skeleton's dance number) are from Michael's 1997 album "Blood on the Dance Floor", while the first song "2 Bad" was on his '95 album "HIStory: Past Present and Future". This video was meant to promote Michael's upcoming album, and he just decided to go all in and make a big show of it--which was very on brand for Michael. The eternal showman. 🙂

What a great reaction video! I just found your channel and it's nice to see such a positive reaction to MJ from the UK! Thank you so much for doing the full short film. The song "2 Bad" is one of my favourites from the HIStory album, and "Is it Scary?" and "Ghosts" are from the Blood on the Dancefloor: HIStory in the Mix EP. I know you've said you didn't much like his last two albums because they're more RnB but there are some absolute bangers on those albums. You really ought to listen to "Threatened" from Invincible, as it completes the trilogy of spooky songs by MJ with Thriller and Ghosts. Much love from another UK fan.

I'm turning 20 in April this year and have been an MJ fan since before I could walk. I've always felt connected to him on a special level, as my childhood was also taken away from me due to cancer at a very young age. I was never like other kids my age, and could never do what they did. I didn't have any friends back then but Micheal was always there. Much how he had things about him he disliked, I did and still do due to side effects of my treatment back then. I used to get weird looks and have people staring. He is one of my main inspirations for creating the music I create. I don't think there has been ever a day in my life where I haven't played a song of his and I don't think there ever will be. RIP to the King Of Pop🙏❤

I'm a 70s baby so i still prefer Thriller, but man, that choreography in this. He also plays 5 parts (never gets any credit for his acting) At one point it was the longest ever music short film (17 years I believe) then Pharrell Williams overtook it with happy. Why he chose to try and outdo MJ no one knows. But excellent reaction.

He always had the best videos especially the extended ones. They did a Halloween special around 2018 that’s hard to find called Michael Jackson’s Halloween. It was an animated thing with Bubbles his monkey and a party to help these two teens that want to sing and dance but aren’t able to. 8:23 most of his songs and videos are tied to real life stuff whether it’s him personally or the world. The interesting thing is this was originally titled “Is It Scary” that was supposed to be released in conjunction with Addams Family Values but after a contract dispute they dropped the connection and made this. It cost around $15 million all paid for by Michael Jackson according to the first director who had to leave to do the Shining miniseries. They do have the making of this film on KZbin. It’s definitely worth checking out to see what Michael did. I like seeing the behind the scenes of his projects to be able to see how his mind works. Watching his video “This is it” about the final tour he was working on. Everything had to be a certain way. Music and sound effects were supposed to go off at his mark and not before or after. 44:50 his song “Childhood” really touches on what you’re talking about. It talks about judging in the song. Songs in this video are: 2 Bad (film version taken from HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1) Is it Scary (film version taken from Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix) & Ghosts (film version taken from Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix)

I'd like to go deeper in this. I finished 6 years of catholic school, it was extremely hard for me as a gay person. Not only students but also teachers used to call me freak and made sure I'll never forget it. I remember one day, when I was changing clothes for my PE lesson, girls attacked my and told me they're not gonna change in front of lesbian so they made me go to the toilet and I was the only kid that needed to go to the toilet to change my clothes, because everyone wanted me to stay away. Sexuality wasn't the only thing that made me look like I'm weird there. I was the only one at school that loved MJ and Lady GaGa, the only people on this planet that ever told me that it's ok to be different and that I should love myself and forgive others for not understanding. People used to bully me for my sexuality, style, beliefs but also for being eccentric and loving two biggest pop stars. I know what it's like to be different and listen to these comments and the older I am, the more I understand how my idol felt when they called him freak his whole life. I believe every LGBT person can relate to this video. I also think MJ wanted to contain in this video his feeling about being black man living in place, where majority discriminates them . This isn't only about being weird and being eccentric but it refers to any form of discrimination and a will to make people understand we're no different and we can coexist because inside we're all the same

despite what he looked like, acted like, and people were very mean to him in life where he just wanted to make people entertained by music. There are a lot of people in the world that should of not judged him as he was different but arent we all at some point, no matter how strange, different, unique we are individual, we are still all the same deep down no matter if rich or poor, good looking or not. None of us should judge without knowing someone as we should look in a mirror ourselves to see how we treat others, if we want the world better we need to treat each other better and ourselves. Michael was the King of pop and a great singer, dancer, and artist who was just different and nothing wrong with that. If he did do some bad things, havent we all? RIP in peace Michael, 14 years later after his death now 2022 of December and he is still one of the greatest entertainers. Thank you Michael from the beginning Jackson 5 to the end of his life.

Interesting about this video. The old man with glasses who Michael is playing is based on one of Michael's biggest critic/hater and a prosecutor against him. Ghost to me I honestly prefer it over Thriller. Remember watching this when it first premiered I believe on MTV or VH1. And I truly loved it and still do. Ghost is super underrated on his catalog of music.
