I have a question that I feel like no one has ever asked. Michael Jackson made it seem as if these kids are his biological kids. However, they don’t seem to be mixed and seem more white. I always wonder if people didn’t question this because of MJs skin tone later in life, but you would think his kids would be mixed. Not that it matters, they’re his kids. Hopefully, what will happen is that people will get more education from the school systems in the U.S. I’m a “white” mixed race person. I had to take graduate genetics to know exactly why this is normal, and not very uncommon. People don’t get 50 percent of their DNA from each of their parents, and can get all of the racial traits of one or the other, or a mix of both. The latter is not the only common outcome. It’s somewhat more common, but there’s a 1 in 4 probability that a child of two people with brown hair and a recessive gene for blonde hair will be blonde. That doesn’t mean that if they have 4 children, 3 of their children will have brown hair. It means that each child has a 1 in 4 chance of being blonde. All 4 children could be blonde. I’ve seen this happen to other families, where 3 of 4 children or all of the children get the less likely trait. We are not even dealing with odds that low, with MJ’s kids. If both parents were of African genetic descent with a recessive gene for European features, it might be interesting that some look European, but that’s not the case. Debbie is white, likely 100 percent. Michael has white and Native American in him, as well as black. It’s perfectly normal for 2 or 3 of the children to look, primarily, white (depending on one’s subjective opinion). I, personally, think Prince looks more like my Native American family, and Bigi looks mixed race, or a different race than all 3 they have in them…which is also common. It’s just how brains that are used to putting people’s features in a box interpret ambiguous features. A friend who is Native American and German is often asked if she’s Italian. Mediterranean is a common guess, when people have olive skin and dark hair. So is Mexican. My somewhat darker (but still light, for someone with African ancestry) black/white cousin is usually asked if he’s Mexican, Native, or Asian. I think a lot of people don’t know very many people with mixed ancestry, because all shades, white to black, are possible every time! It’s even possible for a family to be all white for several generations back, and have a whole black baby, or for a black family to have a white baby who is not albino. This is due to spontaneous replication of a genotype that’s so far back, it’s in danger of dying out. There are instances of both in two families in Africa, recently. The black man with white parents has been accused of fraud, by members of the public, for accepting work with a black theater company. I disagree. The man is black, and faces discrimination and prejudice, whether his parents do or not. In the U.S., the police don’t ask, “What color are your parents, sir?,” before they shoot or arrest someone.
