I love MJ as much as the next guy, but I'm also a big fan of giving proper credit to those who did it first. Charlie Chaplin actually composed this song (as an instrumental) in 1936 for his film "Modern Times"; John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons, in 1954, wrote lyrics based on lines and themes from the film. While MJ did wonderful things with this song, it is by no means _his_. That said, I dig the arrangement, but the effect on the vocals at each end of the song kills the harmonies. That sound...and the visual effect that go with it...are a nice tribute to Chaplin's era, but if he had the technology we have today, he would have used it.
