I'm 64 years old. The first time I saw Michael was on the Ed Sullivan show in 1969 and they sang, "I Want You Back." I lost my 8 year old mind. It had only been a few short years since the passage of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act of 1964 and 1965 and the Black struggle was real (still is). And to be a little Black girl seeing him and his beautiful brothers on TV was def Black pride. Godfrey is speaking truth.

You had to go out and search for that thing then purchase it before it was gone from your area. My sentiments EXACTLY Godfrey. I remember being a young girl falling in love with Michael and the Jacksons, primarily Michael. These constant comparisons are quite insulting. There's NO ONE that can enter in the same space as him. MTV at the time, didn't want to air his videos. Epic's president or owner threatened to pull all of the label's artists if they didn't and the rest is iconic history.
