If you were a musician, you were a musician, if you were a businessman/ manager, you handled that lane. So the idea of an Artist owning a catalog, was beyond anyone's imagination. MJ owned half of Sony ATV. Sony tried to get back his half since he aquired it. He was in dealings in the late 90s to buy rights to Universal, which would include Marvel. And had plans to open theme parks, restaurants and other ventures themed on these. This would've made him one of the richest, most influential individuals in the world. When Sony realized he didn't want to sell it back and other powers that be saw he wanted to expand his empire they sabotaged his his Invincible album, the second round of child abuse cases followed. They attempted a character assassination of him and tried to run his money dry. He was found not guilty in court and the rumours didn't stick. The only thing left was to off him. They bought back the catalogue after his death for 750 million when it was valued at over 40 billion. Diddy's current head of security was assigned to MJ shortly before his death, same with Dr Conrad Murray.

The amount of families who settled with him after accusing him of something so terrible and willingly taking money over putting someone in jail is what made me see. Aaron Carter admitted his parents tried to get him to make up something about Michael Jackson and he refused because he knew firsthand Michael wasn’t bad and what his parents were doing was wrong, seems like he even knew his parents were trying to get some big money out of Michael.
@mirab9482 ай бұрын
There was only one family (the Chandler family) that settled. The Chandlers negotiated with Michael's insurance company for the settlement. The second false allegation was 10 years later in 2003 by the Arviso family and that was completely initiated by the media after the suggestive Martin Bashir interview aired on television. The Arviso family was hunted down by the media and harassed by the public until they took the opportunity and tried to pursue a lawsuit against Michael. It was what the DA Sneddon needed to get an indictment. The problem is the Arviso's were found to be scammers in court. The false stories and payouts made by the media to people and ex-employees did not work before a jury. Michael was found innocent. The FBI report also proved his innocence.
@mirab9482 ай бұрын
Also, there was a very real effort to get Michael's friends to accuse him of abuse. Anyone that tried to publicly defend him or say that the press stories were lies was immediately attacked by the media. The DA Gil Garcetti said in a press conference in the 90s that the investigation found no accusers and no evidence. When Michael invited the Arviso's in 2003 to stay at Neverland after the Bashir interview aired, it gave them the timeline they needed to accuse him.

Guys Michael Jackson was one of the most powerful black man ever lived... not only in music who is a legend.. America and UK will never forgive him for surpassing its stars, his idols and for the power he had.. when he started breaking records and overshadowing anything that existed, the war started. he became freak, wirdo, jacko. He was a very skillful businessman who, in his black skin, maneuvered the best deal ever in the history of American music when he bought into the Sony/ ATV catalogs. He knew this was the reason they came after him. He knew it and he said it.. very important.. his greatest strength was the influence he had on a global level.. when Michael sent a message the world listened... Mike threatened the establishment more than any man in US history... The fact that he was a very strong and passionate activist who used his platform to send strong social and political messages you understand how threatening he can be.. As his skin became whiter the foundation of his art became blacker.. Michael was the first and so far the only black person in history who made millions of whites, black, asians go NUTS for him. Not just claps or scream but lose their mind, pass out No one had the kind of reaction like MJ certainly not on a global scale. Not even religious figures, period. The press hated it.. The white Anglo-American press couldn't deal with the fact that they did their best to ruin that man and here he was still making people all over the world cry... lose their mind over him, support him with passion. Michael had contacts with top personalities all over the world.. he was welcomed everywhere by Royals Ministers, Businessman and other powerful people.. he had contacts with Russia, Korea, Japan and thi is something that America never liked of it.. They were out to get him since always....4 decades.. they could no longer sustain such awesomeness by the black artist! It was a tough war because they had to surrender to his wisdom, talent,his art and his mammoth army of fans. The mission to hunt him down had started. MJ had power like no one else... His enemies knew that which is why they were so hel bent to humiliate him to put him back to his place..

They’re getting the story wrong. Michael Jackson first bought the Beetle catalog in the early 80’s. Because that Beetle catalog was so valuable, Sony made a deal with Michael in the 90’s to merge their publishing company with his to create one big publishing company which was Sony/ATV in which Sony the corporation would own 50% of the publishing while Michael himself would own the other 50%. That merger literally gave Michael 50% ownership of all the publishing of the artist that Sony owned prior to the deal. So, instead of Michael just owning the Beetles catalog, he now owned 50% of Beyoncé, Eminem, Elvis Presley, Britney Spears, etc.

7:00 What happened was Paul McCartney had the opportunity to buy back the Beatles catalog, but they offered it to him for $20 million. Paul McCartney had the bread, but thought it was too pricey and decided to try to go in on the catalog with the other surviving Beatles. While in negotiations with the other Beatles, McCartney had that conversation with MJ, to which MJ went to the seller and doubled the initial offering to $40 million and bought it flat out and right under Paul McCartney’s nose. Mike needed money because after the allegations radio stopped playing him, either out of orders or his ruined reputation. MJ’s debts started stacking up and so that’s why he decided to do the “This Is It” tour. He’d make all that money from that last series of concerts played at a single venue in England (so he wouldn’t have to worry about traveling stressors and expenses) and would’ve been the first the artist to do a theatrical run of his final performance, and would’ve negotiated everything in his favor. The tour was supposed to be his bail out, but I believe his body was really hurting from age and “justified” him abusing medical grade stuff. I always figured that MJ always had a painkiller addiction and at the time he died was moving into harder stuff like propofol. MJ figured that he’d be smart and enlist the help of a doctor, so he’d be “smart” about it.

Charla has most of the story correct. First, I hate the narrative that Mike bought the Beatles catalog. He didn’t. Mike bought a catalog THAT JUST SO HAPPENED to have the Beatles publishing. The main reason Mike bought ATV was to gift most of the black artist who got rotten deals their publishing like Little Richard. As far as the joint ventures. Mike didn’t sell in ‘95. He kept ownership of ATV but shared profits with Sony, just like they shared profits with him. So if ATV publishing made money, Mike and Sony would get paid and if Sony Publishing made money, Mike and Sony would get paid. THAT’S how Mike got one over on the music industry. He was a Genius businessman. And people didn’t like that. Mike wasn’t broke. That what they wanted you to believe. People forget the first artist to actually go through this and pay with his life is Sam Cooke. He owned ALL OF HIS COPYRIGHTS under RCA. Even Elvis Presley said of how dangerous and cutthroat the music industry was regarding the demise of Sam Cooke. Watch the documentary of him, and you'll understand.

@@earnestchristian You know the cases front & back & choose to defend a guy who: a. Slept with/shared his sleeping quarters with underage boys b. Settled out of court with now 4 accusers to avoid trials [Jordan Chandler, Jason Francia, JANE Doe [a girl], The Cascio Family] c. Possessed books depicting boys in the NUD3 d. Has been accused 8 [EIGHT TIMES] now of improper conduct with Minors...that's who you're defending??? Shame on & wo3 to ANYONE of you doing this

@@FinalB055 And she conveniently OMMITTED the facts that: a. Jackson was INDEED sleeping with UNDERAGE boys [Wade Robson, Brett Barnes & their siblings are on tape saying this & said as much UNDER OATH as witnesses for the DEFENSE. b. Jackson settled out of COURT for $23 MILLION to avoid going to trial in 1994 because the accuser at the time could [among other things] describe Jackson's nether regions...This was CONFIRMED by Jackson's BLACK attorney [Carl Douglas ESQ who was co-counsel to Johnnie Cochran] Think about this, Cochran & Douglas etc got OJ acquitted for DOUBLE murder the same year, OJ who was LESS famous, no where near as rich, had MORE evidence showing OJ's guilt etc...they took that case to court, but chose to settle Jackson's ??? c. Jackson has been accused 8 TIMES now of m0l3sting Minors and NONE of them have recanted... d. The Santa Barbara & LAPD found books showing pictures of boys practically nak3d along with p0rn, etc. She IGNORED all these as do Jackson's delusional fanatics & the truth is had these nuggets applied to ANYONE else on the planet, they all will think said person was guilty...but when it's Jackson, people's brains just automatically shut off!!

Also, if Charlamagne paid me, I would do THOROUGH research for that Michael Jackson Documentary. My boy, owned Michael Jackson's official Website when he was 17 and believe it or not, was one of the MAIN REASONS Michael Jackson chose the UK as the place to do his "This Is It" concerts. This documentary would be insanely eye opening, just from what I know.

@Itsmy2cent3 ай бұрын
99% of things Charlemagne says but hes 💯 on this. I don’t agree with but I’ve followed so much information and research on MJ his publishing, etc. Michael owned the Beetles AND half of Sony publishing, not including his own publishing and masters, and more. When you heard people’s music or they performed….MJ got paid. You heard Happy Birthday song…MJ owner that. He got paid. His kids net worth is about 3 billion right now. But MJ left Sony owning half of Sony, hated Sony never wanted to sell the catalog….everything they did to try and cancel him and wouldn’t work but ultimately he passed and John Branca who is head of the estate, MJ fired before he died because Branca stole millions and put off shore. But the will that family days isn’t legit as when the date was signed he wasn’t in New York, Branca sold catalogs for 850mill, a MJ 7 year contract for 250mill, now selling half of MJs catalog to Sony for 600million his mom tried to stop. The lawyers want there cut. They don’t care about MJs legacy. Still only 2 videos restored to 4k. No Blu-ray’s nothing. Got sued for putting 3 fake Michael Jackson songs on the 2010 Michael album. Forced to take ‘em off. If not for fans they woulda lied and had fake MJ songs out. MJ was offd. Plain and simple. He was a great man, loved people, helped kids, and because he had power and pull with all races, countries, music decisions, they wanted it back. FBI did a 10 year under cover op on MJ….found nothing.

They did smear his name. In all honesty, the father in the 2005 trial was money hungry, and so was the family. If they got offered a big amount of money to do so, they would have. If Sony offered that money, and Michael went to jail, who do you think would have access to his catalogue because Michael wouldn’t still own it behind bars?

They conspired against Bob Marley also. In fact, Michael Jackson solo career hit internationally after Bob's passing when he drop the "Thriller Album" in late 1982. Before then Marley made the night’s news and was the front-page story wherever he went around the world. Voted the “hottest band in music” by Rolling Stone magazine in 1979, the Wailers broke all attendance records set by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in Europe in 1980. Bob also brought together Italy's largest ever concert audience of over 120k people - outdrawing the Pope, who was also in town a week earlier, by about 40k people - to the San Siro Stadium in Milan during the Uprising tour. Marley was simply MJ before MJ (in a short period of time). Bob represented a shift in consciousness which was the cause of his demised. After that hip hop/Rap, Dancehall and even Michael's solo career took over.

He bought the beetles catalog sneakily… and when they found out they where pissed. The Beatles catalog was worth so much. And they didn’t know he owned the company. Him and Paul McCartney fell out over this.
@aljoharas85813 ай бұрын
Yes, I understand why Paul would feel some kind of way about his friend buying it without informing him, however I would imagine since it was sold in auction that you wouldn’t want to make your interest publicly known to avoid driving up the price or bringing in more interested people that you would have to bid against. He was probably advised to keep quiet until he owned it. What I don’t like is that Paul McCartney, along with the other Beatles (and their families) were given the opportunity to buy it before anyone and they refused, it went to auction after that.
@BMBRecordings2 ай бұрын
They couldn’t buy it, it cost too much

And Paul McCarney is the one who told Michael to buy Masters if he wanted to be successful in the music business. Michael was stressed he was a slave to his deal. So he wanted to make his own money in the industry. That’s why his company is a different name unrelated to him. When they found out he owned that company he was marked for death. He beat them at their own game.
