The best voice in the world, not only because of the tones it uses, it's how it uses, I've never seen anything like it. There are many wonderful singers, but they should play like this with their voice, never seen, or heard rather. And there you can see that high note that comes and that I only use in that song, because of his style of music he only went up to that note that time, but we see that he could even more than what almost all his songs showed. It was born to change music, it's clear. King of Music, Thank you for this video. Songs of album invencible?

The way he does the stack multi-vocal for the chorus is a clever wordplay as the song is called You are not alone but the verses is just the solo vocal. Plus according to R Kelly when he wrote it he couldn't believe how Michael made it so much better in reality and it taught him alot in songwriting and production.

My guess for the breathy-hiccupy track added separately is this: they cut it out first thinking they want a "clean cut" of the singing then MJ probably changed his mind and decided it belongs there to keep it raw and emotional so they edited it back. a lot of it comes from vocal warmup and being free, then having the know how to blend, bend, and all those things with texture. Oh but wow, how similar his doubling is, how precise. Bruce Swedien, most peace be upon him, said he could even double his vibrato perfectly, so impressive to hear it in isolation. These harmonies are more gold than Liberian Girl, well maybe.

I actually think that those two long notes towards the end of the songs are the demo version vs. the final one. You don't hear this ‘off mix‘ of these two in the official public version, even when you listen to it closely. However, the demo version available here on youtube has that softer line finishing with ‘‘don't you believe in me‘‘ instead of the passionate, rough one. I heard one of his producers telling a story in an interview about how MJ was dissatisfied with this big, expressive line, so he just went there and re-sang it as a last step, when the song was all done. I believe they gave you the vocals of both: the demo + this final vocal line. That's why it's doubled there.

omg, his voice unravels me in the most polite way possible.. but to the bone.. with no return. I think the reason for dividing the breathing rhythm track and the main track in some parts in this song is that he wanted the collision this time.. yes, as you said he usually does both of those things at the same time, but here the collision is created between the main voice being free in holding the notes.. and breathing track keeping punctuations and making the long notes to be more rhythmic..both exits in two channels at the same time, then colliding...the flow of the long notes swelling over the edges.. and the edges created with breathing track.. even though you almost can't tell the difference.. but it would be different if in this song he would do both at the same time.. the long flowy watery notes would not be able to spill over... as he would have to interupt them, if doing both in one track in one go.. now he can indulge in the long ones, drive them home gently and count on another layer holding the container for this water.. i do not know who's idea that was.... but.. who knows.. he was a master of details after all... more you disect him.. more you understand the intricacy of his musical brain.. i always remember how people working with him say he was always telling them to find new sounds.. i am sure he would treat his voice and how he could use it in the same manner.. him to himself: find me some new sounds Michael.. what can i twist and turn etc.. in my voice to get another type of sounding out if it..

Hi Chris, I have a question, and that question is could you do an in-depth video about Michael Jackson as a vocalist that covers his entire career and wherein you highlight and discuss just how amazing he is as a vocalist? I'm asking because I've been watching your MJ videos for a long time and you seem to be one of the few who truly understands Michael as a vocalist and who doesn't downplay or have bias against him for not being an Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston style singer/belter (in short, you smartly realize that there's more than one way to be a vocalist). Likewise, I'm also asking because I've seen people trying to downplay Michael's vocals quite a bit as of late and/or saying that he was only a good vocalist as a child. I love this video BTW!😄
@kyriebest15744 ай бұрын
That’s an old argument but I used to hear that too. I think people have been smartening up the last 5 or so years. Songs like Keep the Faith, Earth Song, We’ve had Enough and this one are really showing people he could SING.
