You could hear the collective sigh of relief from every other team when Jordan had to have knee surgery. They saw just how terrifying he was getting as the season progressed. He was starting to get back in game shape and as he did, he was lighting future hall of famers up.

People dont understand Jordans legacy... he had a 3peat and in the summer his father was murdered. He retired because he wanted his dad to have seen his last game which was winning his championship... He went to play baseball, so sad about his father... He then after a year and a half of mourning he came back and changed his number telling himself his dad saw him play last time with number 23... he played 17 games and lost in playoffs and next year he was motivated and had mourned enough and had put on his number 23 (in playoffs) and knew his dad would be proud... He then went on to win 72 times in the season, and completed another 3peat with a unique team... He then saw the Bulls were going to break the team up and rebuild, so he knew that he did what he wanted, another 3peat... Then 9/11 happened in 2001, trade center went down in fire, and Jordan being part of the Wizards investors saw that the NBA and especially the Nation was completely destroyed emotionally... he decided to give up his stocks in the Wizards, join a 19 win team take only a 1 million dollar contract, and donate it all to the families of the victims of 9/11... he played that year at 38-39 and brought happiness and lots of attention to basketball helping the Nation and the world heal from the tragedy... he then played one last year and also played great into playing at 40... He is a Hero and God keeps blessing him with his life despite the tragedies that also define his Legacy behind the scenes

Hits the game winner in the EXACT SAME SPOT vs Cleveland. 20 points/game playing for Wizards. AND he got better as season went on pre-injury??? Insane.Absolutely the greatest ever. Scary to think that Jordan and the wizards could have gone to the best record in the East had him and rip stayed healthy? This is without pippen, a Rodman and other big shot makers like Kerr and kucoc. Just scary of how good this dude was in Washington. Had he not taken the 3 years off, he would’ve been undoubtedly the best in the league still, by far, even over iverson and Kobe. Just scary.

MJs success even as a Wizard is a testament to fundamentals over athleticism. You cannot avg 22 and 20 pts at 38-40 years old without great fundamentals and technique. And check out irony - Vince Carter is playing today at 40. He's averaging 8 points.

Great job on this documentary !!!! the thing that was most impressive was that in the Wizards years MJ lacked the athletic ability that he once had, however because he was fundamentally sound he was playing on pure skill and mental toughness, he was 38 and 39, while they were 24, 23 and he still was playing at an extreme high level. Thanks for sharing again GREAT JOB

actually what Jordan did before his knee injury greatly enhanced his legacy. Jordan as a 38-year old Wizard was still a top 5 player in the league before his injury happened in 01/02. and in a tougher defensive environment than today because it was lower-paced, and legalized both zone and some handchecking (pre-04/05 rule changes) Before the season started, Jordan was already dealing with - having to skip 3 days of practice before the season opener in MSG because of fluid buildup in his knee - recovering from 2 broken ribs (against Artest) and back spasms - tendinitis in his knee and wrist - and during the season Jordan had fluid drained from his knee multiple times which explains a lot about his inefficiency In the 46 games that Jordan played in 2001/02 before the knee injury, he averaged 25.1 - 6.2 - 5.3 - 1.5 - 0.5 on 42% points - rebounds - assists - steals - blocks Tracy McGrady was the only player who averaged 25-6-5 by the end of the 01/02 season, but that's what 38 year old Jordan on no knees and broken ribs was putting up before his injury KZbin *"Michael Jordan Wizards Knee Injury"* Jordan's numbers were also improving as the season went on. *In his last 20 games up to the injury he averaged* 27.5 - 6.4 - 5.2 - 1.3 - 0.5 on 44% *In his last 10 games up to the injury he averaged* 29.7 - 6.6 - 6.1 - 1.2 - 0.3 on 47% Jordan wasn't as efficient, which is obviously going to happen if you play on tendinitis knees, cracked ribs, and at 38 coming off a 3-year layoff. but that still didn't stop him from winning games pre-injury, and his efficiency was improving up to his injury Up to the game that Jordan was injured, the Wizards were 26-21 with Jordan missing 1 game (26-20 when Jordan played). after the knee injury, the Wizards lost 9/10 games and fell out the playoff picture. the Wizards were 19-63 the year before Jordan came, and no sub-20 team had ever got a winning record in one season to that point. Since then, there are only two instances that a team got a winning record one year after getting less than 20 wins *2004 Nuggets* - who drafted Carmelo - and added Andre Miller *2009 Heat* - with Wade coming back from injury - along with adding Jermaine O'Neal both those teams benefited from the return or acquisition of 2 starters, whereas Jordan was the only new player on the team who played significant minutes Outside of Jordan, the 2002 Wizards' only new additions were 5 bench players, 4 of whom where rookies that played very little minutes - Tyronn Lue (20 mpg) - Rookie Kwame Brown (14 mpg) - Rookie Brendan Haywood (14 mpg) - Rookie Etan Thomas (13 mpg) - Rookie Bobby Simmons (11 mpg) Jordan also got that 26-20 record when he played, pre-injury, with Rip Hamilton missing 5 weeks. The Wizards were 15-1 in the last 16 games that MJ and Rip played together before the injury happened. Considering that the Nets were number 1 at 52-wins, and the Wizards were on a 46/47 win pace when MJ played pre-injuy (26-20) with Rip missing 5 weeks, it's pretty safe to say an injury free 2002 Wizards team would easily get the 1 seed. and this is not factoring in Jordan's defensive impact *2001 Wizards* - 2nd worst in ppg allowed the year before. *Up to the injury game* 2002 Wizards = allowed 92.2 ppg through 47 games (Jordan missed 1 game) - would be tied for 6th-best in the league with the Pistons. 2002 Wizards = allowed 92.0 ppg in the 46 games Jordan played - would be tied for 5th best in the league with the Nets *After Jordan's injury* 2002 Wizards = allowed 96.8 ppg in the remaining 35 games - would be ranked 19th in the league - and fell to 11th in ppg allowed for the overall season. and again, Rip was missing 5 weeks in the first half of the season, so Jordan's defensive impact is actually greater than what those numbers show *The Wizards started the season off slow with a 2-9 start* - and allowed 98.4 ppg during the 2-9 start - on pace for 5th worst in the league *In Jordan's last 35 games pre-injury after the 2-9 start* - the Wizards allowed 90.0 ppg - on pace for 3rd best in the league *When Jordan and Rip Hamilton played together, they were 15-1 in their last 16 games together up to the injury* - The Wizards allowed 86.3 ppg in that 15-1 stretch - Easily on pace for the best in the league - The 2002 Heat were number 1 at 88.7 ppg allowed The 2001 Wizards were 2nd worst in ppg allowed with Rip Hamilton playing 78 games. The 2002 Wizards were by far the best in the league in ppg allowed when MJ and Rip played together. adding a 38-year old Jordan with tendinitis and getting his ribs broken in the offseason singlehandedly turned the 2nd worst defense to the best defense in ppg allowed The 2001 Wizards' opponents shot 47.0%, 3rd worst in the league *Through their first 47 games pre-Jordan's injury (Jordan missed 1 game)* - The 2002 Wizards' opponents shot 44.3% - on pace for 11th best in the league *In the 35 games post-Jordan's injury* - The 2002 Wizards' opponents shot 46.4% - on pace for 2nd worst in the league And under Jordan, the Wizards improved on holding opponents to low FG% as the season went on *Wizards got off to a slow 2-9 start to begin the season* - The Wizards' opponents shot 46.8% - on pace for worst in the league *In the Wizards last 36 games pre-Jordan injury (Jordan missed 1 game)* - The Wizards' opponents shot 43.6% - on pace for 8th best in the league *The Wizards were 15-1 in the last 16 games that Jordan and Rip Hamilton played together prior to Jordan's knee injury* - The Wizards' opponents shot 41.7% in that 15-1 stretch - Easily on pace for best in the league - The 2002 Lakers held opponents to a league best 42.4% The 2001 Wizards were 3rd worst in the league in opponent FG% with Rip playing 78 games. The 2002 Wizards were best in the league in opponent FG% when MJ and Rip played together pre-injury. and Jordan shut down many great players in the 01/02 season as a Wizard *Paul Pierce* - 14 points on 6/16 with 4 TOs in their first meeting - 2 points on 1/6 FG in the 4th quarter - Pierce averaged 26.1 ppg on 44% that season - top 20 all-time on the scoring list *Vince Carter* - 0 pts in the 2nd half in his first RS meeting with Jordan - only attempted 4 total shots in the 2nd half because of Jordan's D - averaged 25.8 ppg on 43% before an injury against the Spurs on Feb 7 - top 25 all-time on the scoring list *Latrell Sprewell* x2 - averaged 19.4 ppg on 40%, but his scoring tailed off at the end of the season - at the time of the 12-14-01 and 12-22-01 games against Jordan, he was averaging 20.7 ppg on 44% at the time of both games *Peja Stojakovic* in the Feb 7, 2002 game that MJ was injured - he didn't score on Jordan until his knee injury happened, and even after that injury, MJ still locked him down - Peja averaged 21 ppg on 48% in 01/02, and would be a top 4 MVP candidate in 03/04 - top 10 all-time in 3pters made (will be top 15 at the end of this 15/16 season) *Shawn Marion* - scored 4 points with Jordan guarding him a few games after Jordan was injured, finished with 9 points on 4/10 (40%), and Jordan hit the game winner in his face so no, Jordan's pre-injury accomplishments definitely added more to his career. despite playing with tendinitis in both knees and having his ribs broken in the offseason, he dominated at age 38 in all aspects of the game outside of efficiency, (which was improving as the season went on pre-injury, and didn't stop him from winning games anyway). you need to educate yourself before making foolish comments next time

+Young Rain Thats the thing, he is by far the greatest 40 year old to ever play, I can't see Kobe hobbling up the court at that age, aside from Stockton there haven't been any effective players at that age, Nash, abdul Jabbar, Moses Malone, actually Karl Malone was ok just on a greedy me first team, Parish, Rodman, who else ? +Young Rain I think some people only want him winning a championship and be the top scorer of the league which means their expectations towards him were immense or even inhuman. Too bad he collided his knee that way. But in 2003 I think he actually did not perform that bad as his FG% was at 45%. The main reason he averaged less ppg than in 2002 was that he played much fewer minutes in the start of the season as he came from the bench, plus he also took less shots,

People forget that in 2001-2002 season, Jordan was one of the most talked about players for getting the MVP that season before the injury. He was still a top 10 player in the league despite being a shadow of himself. You should have shown the game where he kicked Kobe's ass in Washington where he scored 25 points on 9/14 in only 30 minutes. But that was in the 2002-2003 season. Great documentary my man !

Mike was top 5 before the injury. And if he and rip stayed healthy MJ probably would have a legit shot at MVP. Jason Kidd was 2nd place in 2002 MVP and took the Nets from 26 to 52 wins. The Wizards had 19 wins and would probably be number 1 in the east if MJ and Rip stayed healthy. MJ was 26-20 when he played before the injury (missed 1 game - 26-21 overall) which is 46/47 wins for 82 games. And that 26-20 was with Rip out for 5 weeks. Wizards were 15-1 when MJ and rip played in their last 16 games together before the injury. This would have been the first sub-20 team to get a winning record. But post injury they lost 9 of 10 games and fell out the playoff race. And I have a video on my channel of Wizards Jordan schooling Kobe if you want to check it out

I think MJ would be even better today than he was back in the day. Illegal defense rules allowed him to isolate yes, but the modern rules of no hand checking and the shooting capability of players would allow him to drive more easily and get even more points.

Well..you have to remember they werenæt allowed to play zone-defence back then. Had he played in today's era he woudl ahve to deal with being guarded by 2 players at the same time. Before you were only allowed to play with man-marking and for all great 1-on-1 players this was a good thing. Imagine Allen Iverson playing while only being guarded by one player. Who'd be able to stop him offensively? He'd blow past every defender. So Jordan would face some challenges too. But as the great player that he was Iæ'm sure he would adjust just fine and dominate the league, but I do not believe he would "easily get 100 points" as some people say. That's bogus.

The isolation was often against players like Danny ainge, Craig Ehlo, Jeff Horacek, Scott Skiles, Majerle, etc. The pistons had a tough defense, but he lost to the pistons most of the time. These creampuffs would not guard a player 1v1 for an entire playoff series today.

Aw common without outside shooting your nothing today as they describe Simmons, and Westbrook as the player that would be great during 80's era, player's today are more faster thanks to the more scientific training, if you don't have an outside you cannot even score inside more, since you're probably subjected to a double team and your team will be in a losing end because you cannot stretch the defense, there are no longer illegal defence, and zone is now legal defense....

And the East was WIDE OPEN in 2002. I mean, Jersey barely survived 8th seed Indy in round one, Boston got to the East finals winning one of their games over Detroit 66-64. MJ’s Wizards could’ve absolutely been a fly in the ointment had he stayed healthy. David Stern would’ve corpsed over a Wizards/Lakers Finals.

It just shows how truly great Jordan was (not that we needed more proof) that at the ages of 39-40 years old, he was still able to put up the numbers he did. He averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 reb, 4.4 ast and 1.5 steals with the Wizards. Shot a respectable .431 from the field. Look at Kobe shooting .350 at age 37. I'm not dissing Kobe, so don't get me wrong. Just saying what MJ was able to do at that age was pretty amazing. He even dropped 50 once.

Great video, thanks for this. People seem to have a negative memory of Jordan's comeback with the Wizards. The greatest player of all time, pushing 40 years old, coming back the league after being gone for two years+. He was still great. Especially his defense. But it's like people expected him to be scoring 33 PPG, sticking his tongue out while dunking over every team's center. That's just not how life works. Even if his team didn't dominate, he was still clearly the best player on his squad. And I couldn't imagine any other player being able to have a comeback anywhere close to the same level. it's a shame how many young people don't understand how great Jordan was during his peak. I've even heard teenagers say Jordan played during a WEAK ERA. I see these comments on ESPN/Bleacher Report "Lebron>>>MJ," and no disrespect, but you can't help but laugh.

Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete EVER! No wonder his life seems to operate based on the patterns of 3s. Good things come in 3s and the 3rd times the charm are known phrases. The offense he ran which brought him 2 3peats is called the triangle, which has 3 points and has been said to be the most strongest shape, because any added force is evenly spread through all 3 sides. something the ancients new very well. 3 6 and 9 are the numbers that are coded in Michael Jordans Greatness. He is 6 foot 6 with 6 championships. His partner in crime, Scottie Pippen is #33. Jordan entered the league 3 times and exited the league 3 times. His numbers are 23 and 45 2/3=.666666.... 2*3=6, 4+5=9 He wore 12 for one game 1+2=3 His olympic number is 9. At age 30 he won 3 in a row and retired At age 33 starts his 2nd 3peat Retires from bulls at age 36 with 6 championships Theres much much more.... Nikola Tesla said "If you only knew the magnificence of the numbers 3 6 and 9, you would have a key to the universe." I believe Michael Jordan discovered that key, or somebody or something else discovered it for him. Mathematics of Michael Jordan kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZrVaGeEmrVmh8U

Have to admit I actually fully enjoyed seeing Jordan play in Washington. Yeah it was sad to see him older and lose a step and on a terrible team, but you could still see that killer instinct and that drive and will to win and compete which is why I loved MJ throughout his whole career. Was just glad to see him play another year even if it was an older Jordan with less endurance. Was just a joy to watch and see that jump shot and fade away everytime.

+Ladainian Tomlinson I personally really wish that could happen. That would mean I get to witness the GOAT in this era,but it sadly just wasn't meant to be. The moment he went 4-7(game winner/tying) and got to the finals in 2007 I believe he could do it. The moment he has a legendary 2009 run similar to Jordan 1989 run before the later stats went down from playing the Bad Boys I really thought it could happen. He then choke horribly in 2011,but I still pretend it was his version of the 1996 series for Jordan even though I know Jordan only played poorly 2 games compare to Lebron 4. In 2012 he went on and win and I thought maybe he turned a new leaf, but then he went and shove all of that away in 2013. Playing poorly for 4 whole games,2 decent game, and 1 legendary game after getting saved. Not an old Lebron, not a double team/triple team Lebron Bad Boy style, but simple dare to shoot and fail Lebron. At that time I lost faith in him and it has never recovered. He's currently 8-23 in game winner/tying shot (35%),0-5 in the finals, and slightly below 30% in clutch situation in the finals compare to 42%+ in the playoff as a whole. He's just not Jordan. He's so close but so far at the same time.

FINALLY someone who agrees with me on the fact that MJ probably would've still dominated both ends of the court, during his tenure with the Wizards had he not gotten injured, in spite of all the other obstacles he had to overcome (which you addressed). If you compare the end (or nearing the end) of the careers of Kobe, Shaq, KG, Dwyane Wade, TMac, Vince Carter, and the list goes on and on of these superstar NBA players with Jordan and it's not even close!!! Jordan is the BEST through and through...LOVED watching this man play!!! Thanks for bringing back the memories +Nobody Touches Jordan.

Really enjoyed the recap at the end. (Although more could have been said about the final season. Unlike in 2001-2002, the Wizards endured many injuries to key players other than MJ. And yet they still almost made the playoffs. MJ's scoring % was higher in his final season.) Few people appreciate how good he was in his return to the NBA. Most think it was a failure, which is not at all the case.

Great video! More people should see this. Prior to that knee thing really finishing him off, he was on pace to make a serious run at the playoffs with the wizards and his defense to me was more impressive than his multiple 40+ point games. He would have ended the season averaging 30 ppg if he stayed healthy. It's amazing that even after having sub par performances through the rest of his wizards career, (sub par for Jordan that is... He was over 40 when he finally hung it up too), he was still able to close his career with a 30+ ppg career average. Amazing. Old Kobe was not as good as old Michael. Lol. Wish he never took those 3 years off. Would have loved to see one more playoff run.

Here is a full, complete, and updated note on Jordan's defensive impact with the 2002 Wizards, some of which was included near the end of the video starting at the 1:20:00 mark ______________________________________________________________________________________ Before the 2001/02 season started, Jordan was already dealing with - having to skip 3 days of practice before the season opener in MSG because of fluid buildup in his knee - recovering from 2 broken ribs (against Artest) and back spasms - tendinitis in his knee and wrist - and during the season Jordan had fluid drained from his knee multiple times Outside of Jordan, the 2002 Wizards' only new additions were 5 bench players, 4 of whom where rookies that played very little minutes - Tyronn Lue (20 mpg) - Rookie Kwame Brown (14 mpg) - Rookie Brendan Haywood (14 mpg) - Rookie Etan Thomas (13 mpg) - Rookie Bobby Simmons (11 mpg) Jordan was the only new player on the 2002 team that had a significant impact and played significant minutes. The Wizards did add a new coach in Doug Collins, but as you'll see, the Wizards completely fell apart on defense (and in the W-L column) following Jordan's injury, even with Collins as coach. Rip Hamilton played 78 games in 2000/01, but the Wizards were still - 2nd worst in ppg allowed - 3rd worst in opponent FG% - 8th worst in team rebounding Rip Hamilton also missed 5 weeks in the first half of the season (last week of December and almost all of January) when Jordan made the Wizards an elite defense in his 46 games pre-knee injury ______________________________________________________________________________________ *PART 1 - OPPONENT'S PPG* 2001 Wizards = 2nd worst in ppg allowed the year before Jordan came *Up to the injury game* 2002 Wizards = allowed 92.2 ppg through 47 games (Jordan missed 1 game) - would be tied for 6th-best in the league with the Pistons. 2002 Wizards = allowed 92.0 ppg in the 46 games Jordan played - would be tied for 5th best in the league with the Nets *After Jordan's injury* 2002 Wizards = allowed 96.8 ppg in the remaining 35 games - would be ranked 19th in the league - and fell to 11th in ppg allowed for the overall season. and Jordan's defensive impact was improving as the season went on before his injury *The Wizards started the season off slow with a 2-9 start* - and allowed 98.4 ppg during the 2-9 start - on pace for 5th worst in the league *In Jordan's last 35 games pre-injury after the 2-9 start* - the Wizards allowed 90.0 ppg - on pace for 3rd best in the league *When Jordan and Rip Hamilton played together, they were 15-1 in their last 16 games together up to the injury* - The Wizards allowed 86.3 ppg in that 15-1 stretch - Easily on pace for the best in the league - The 2002 Heat were number 1 at 88.7 ppg allowed With Jordan as the only major addition, the 2002 Wizards went from 2nd worst to easily the best in ppg allowed for the brief stretch that Jordan and Hamilton played together. After Jordan's knee injury, they were just outside the top 10 worst in the league, and Jordan still played 14 games after his knee injury. They would easily be top 10 worst in the league had he not played a few more games after his injury. ______________________________________________________________________________________ *PART 2 - Opponent's FG%* The 2001 Wizards' opponents shot 47.0%, 3rd worst in the league *Through their first 47 games pre-Jordan's injury (Jordan missed 1 game)* - The 2002 Wizards' opponents shot 44.3% - on pace for 11th best in the league *In the 35 games post-Jordan's injury* - The 2002 Wizards' opponents shot 46.4% - on pace for 2nd worst in the league And under Jordan, the Wizards improved on holding opponents to low FG% as the season went on *Wizards got off to a slow 2-9 start to begin the season* - The Wizards' opponents shot 46.8% - on pace for worst in the league *In the Wizards last 36 games pre-Jordan injury (Jordan missed 1 game)* - The Wizards' opponents shot 43.6% - on pace for 8th best in the league *The Wizards were 15-1 in the last 16 games that Jordan and Rip Hamilton played together prior to Jordan's knee injury* - The Wizards' opponents shot 41.7% in that 15-1 stretch - Easily on pace for best in the league - The 2002 Lakers held opponents to a league best 42.4% With Jordan as the only major addition, the 2002 Wizards went from 3rd worst to the best in opponent's FG% for the brief stretch that Jordan and Hamilton played together. After his injury, they were 2nd worst in the league for the rest of the season. ______________________________________________________________________________________ *PART 3 - IMPACT ON TEAM REBOUNDING* Jordan also had a huge impact on his team's rebounding, even though he was only third on the team in rpg 2002 Wizards = 43.27 rpg through 47 games pre-injury (MJ missed 1 game) - on pace for 9th best in the league 2002 Wizards = 43.39 rpg through 46 games that MJ played pre-injury - on pace for 8th best in the league 2002 Wizards = 40.40 rpg in 35 games post-injury - on pace for 4th worst in the league - fell to 18th in rebounding for the overall season and Jordan's impact on rebounding was also improving as the season went on *Wizards got off to a slow 2-9 start to begin the season* - averaged 40.36 rpg in that stretch - on pace for 4th worst in the league *In Jordan's last 35 games pre-injury* - the Wizards averaged 44.34 rpg - on pace for 3rd best in the league Jordan was only 3rd on the team in rpg, but for whatever reason, his presence alone still made the Wizards an elite rebounding team, and they were a poor rebounding team after his injury. This probably has to do with the Wizards forcing opponents into low FG% under Jordan before the injury, which would lead to more misses and more rebound opportunities. the Wizards went from one of the worst teams in ppg allowed, opponent FG%, and a poor rebounding team, to an elite team in all those categories with 38-year old Jordan as the only major addition, before his knee injury. and After his injury they immediately became a very poor team in all of those categories. And although it was only a 16 game stretch, the 2002 Wizards were easily the best in the league in ppg allowed and opponent FG% when MJ and Rip played together. And even in just over a half-season, Jordan shut down many notable star players as a 38-year old man with tendinitis in both knees, and after getting his ribs broken in the offseason. *Paul Pierce* - 14 points on 6/16 with 4 TOs in their first meeting - 2 points on 1/6 FG in the 4th quarter - Pierce averaged 26.1 ppg on 44% that season - top 20 all-time on the scoring list *Vince Carter* - 0 pts in the 2nd half in his first RS meeting with Jordan - only attempted 4 total shots in the 2nd half because of Jordan's D - averaged 25.8 ppg on 43% before an injury against the Spurs on Feb 7 - top 25 all-time on the scoring list *Latrell Sprewell x2* - averaged 19.4 ppg on 40%, but his scoring tailed off at the end of the season - at the time of the 12-14-01 and 12-22-01 games against Jordan, he was averaging 20.7 ppg on 44% at the time of both games *Peja Stojakovic in the Feb 7, 2002 game that MJ was injured* - he didn't score on Jordan until his knee injury happened, and even after that injury, MJ still locked him down - Peja averaged 21 ppg on 48% in 01/02, and would be a top 4 MVP candidate in 03/04 - top 10 all-time in 3pters made (will be top 15 at the end of this 15/16 season) *Shawn Marion* - scored 4 points with Jordan guarding him a few games after Jordan was injured, finished with 9 points on 4/10 (40%), and Jordan hit the game winner in his face

+Nobody Touches Jordan You know what gets me is how people just disregard MJ's Wizard years. Sure, he wasn't the player he once was, but that makes what he did do even more impressive. Getting a team that won only 19 games the year before to barely almost making the playoffs two years in a row is no easy task. Not to mention, when you consider the wear and tear on MJ's body at this point.

Problem is Jordan came back and played with a team that was AWFUL, had he joined a decent or better team he possibly could've won a seventh title.

+8krpm what is the reason for Jordan not playing for a better team? I don't think any team would say no?

+Norbert Haponik I wish I knew the answer. Someone did say Hamilton was easy going and the coach for Washington was a "yes" man, and that's what Jordan wanted. Maybe Jordan didn't want to deal with an NBA superstar diva, or maybe he didn't have anything to prove and wanted to have fun. It still would have been nice to see him on a competitive team especially in the eastern conference.

being the GOAT, He wont get much respect if he decided to join let say LAkers during phil jackson's reign. And team like LAKERS don't need Jordan to win Championships. And after he said 99.9% he wont be back definitely he wont back for a mere Join a strong team and make it stronger. thats no Cinderella story. Jordan with Wizards was a challenge strong enough for the GOAT. imagine how many Wizard fans were so happy when MJ decided to join. I bet lakers fans won't be happy if MJ took some spotlight off from Kobe. just my thought

What MJ did at age 38 to come back and play against a era of young talent NBA players and give them a hard time by himself with a wizard team that didn't have that much talent that adds to his legacy for ever.

Oh wow. At 1:05:50, he makes a buzzer beater against Cleveland at the free throw line. Exactly the same thing that happened in 1989 against Cleveland. Pretty incredible.
