This is why us 40 year olds and older respected the old school because they taught if you listened and here MJ was a young man and was like Kobe just soaking up information like a sponge.

I agree with you 💯%. I'm 49, and I still seek the approval and guidance of those who inspired me who are older and more wise. You can't go wrong. They were kickin' it big time before I ever was. Respect 🙏 🫡. Sadly, though, you do get young, know it all's who think they know everything and don't want to listen to sound advice then fall flat on their face when the pressures on. I've seen it time and time again, but I still help them get up. I guess you learn one way or the other. I, myself prefer to take wise advice everytime it's available. My ego doesn't ride that high to pass up on golden opportunities for wisdom.

MJ was always up for learning as much as he could to improve his game. MJ had the most talent in combination with being the hardest worker ever. Those two together and you get MJ. MJ was a very respectful guy, especially when young.

Basketball aficionados, like myself, have an affinity for NBA greats who played prior to the 1980s era-present. There are many great big men, like Nate, Wilt went up against on a nightly basis, but you have so many misinformed modern-day fanboys constantly regurgitating that nonsense about 6'6" white dudes, which is far from the truth. They're absolutely brainwashed from the sports engine in ESPN, for example, which came into play in 1979, and is no coincidence lol

We all know MJ is vicious on the court against his opponents, but at the same time he constantly never says he was the GOAT because he had tremendous respect for all his predecessors as he never had the chance to play against them. This old clip validates that he has been consistent on his views from the early days.

Ali called himself the Greatest even though there were great boxers before him ! He was 22 ys old!!! Ali didn't care if people didn't like his confidence and the things he said in beating older great champs. He talked junk ! He didn't need any of them to teach him pointers how to box or give him advice !! Yet, he was loved by all.

Yhanks for putting this video up & putting Nate Thurmond's name out there. He was a bad dude, strong, built similar to Dwight Howard, good shot blocker, could hit the 15foot jumper, good rebounder, played Wilt & Kareem and other centers very tough, he did most of his damage during his time with the Cavaliers...

People don't remember this because of how he was later in his career, but MJ was a very humble and respectful young player to the veteran stars of his time. Only when it was undeniable (through wins, multiple individual stat records and NBA awards) that he had earned his clout did he start mouthing off and trash talking.

You had to be there to know how great a player really was. Sometimes videos don't tell the whole truth. That's why i dont listen to youngsters or anybody for that matter who say 60s and 70s era basketball was weak. You had to have played against these guys to truly know that. Everything you see on tv aint as easy as it is if you have to play against these guys but you can't tell everybody that. 💯
