So MJ gets 4.5 out of 5 in scoring? Are u serious? MJ is the best scorer in the NBA history by far. On the other hand you give LEbron 5 out of 5 in passing. Yes he is a very good passer, but what would u give to players like Magic, Stockton and Nash then?

@@idontdeserveaname1152 Eventually the years catch up, X amount of years to get Y rings and a Z amount of team ups.... when we talk about the number 1 spot, how you get there matters. He will NEVER get the MJ treatment, which pretty much was 98% of people from 1998 to maybe 2015 had him down as GOAT. There is a bigger chunk now that has LeBron in there but MJ will never disappear. MJ came into the NBA as a Robin, worked his ass off and left as Superman. LBJ came in like Superman and will leave like Batman/Robin. Both great, but there is a difference. Its been fun for me regardless, I been watching since 1990 and have been blessed to see some of the best basketball and basketball players of the sport.

difference between the two is that MJ was undisputed the best player when he was playing (barring his wizards days) whereas lebron has let an undersized guard come around the shop, shoot three's all day and dethrone him in the eye's of many. not only curry but durant was talked about being better than lebron in his MVP year, kobe was accepted as the next best thing over lebron for a few years. michael was dominant... he was bested by the pistons when he was younger and he got up and did his all to CRUSH the best defensive team in the history of the game. after that NOBODY could compete with him... name 1 player in his era that was ever talked about being better, please. lebron has been bested at some point in his career by not only curry but by durant and kobe.

lebrons only up side to MJ is that he can play 4 of 5 positions, MJ was just not tall enough and that's not skill, that's luck and i guarantee that if MJ had 2 or 3 more inches he'd be as bulky, as quick and as athletic as lebron if not more so. giving someone the nod over something out of either of their control is ridiculous.

Jordan's in another category. LeBron's 'chasing the ghost' because he knows this. Jordan, 6-0 in finals. 6 finals mvp. Lebron 3-5 in finals. Chocked a finals against Dallas. Has choked numerous games. Jordan is more clutch, stronger will and has a killer instinct LeBron wish to posses. LeBron won his first 2 champs with a super team. Then carried that mentality over to Cleveland. Jordan never jumped shipped. Don't give me he had a super team when a no-name Scottie Pippen, who came off the bench his first two years, was drafted to Chicago. Jordan and his squad developed together. Jordan kept legends from champs. Dominated a younger generation like Shaq and Penny. Came back at 38 and was still one of the best players in the league. Do you remember what he did to Vince Carter? Shut him down completely in a second half game. Scored 50 points at 39 years old. Jordan's defense is better. He has better instinct, better foot work, mental game, better hands, and better technique. He did all this in a tougher era. Stop this madness. We all remember hearing the Kobe comparison but nada since he's retired. Don't think this won't be the same when LeBron's done. #MJGOAT

Buttttt Jordan also had a capable front office that could draft, sign very good free agents that complimented him, and had team mates that took extremely undervalued contracts. Lebron James took one of the most trash teams to the NBA finals in 2007 and took a very mediocre team in 2018 to the finals. He also faked everyone out for a hot second in 2015 that he could win the series. Let me remind you that this golden state team was a 67-15 team. And he was missing his two best players after overtime of game 1. He lead a team that started Mathew Delevadova to winning 2 games and taking a 2-1 lead. And then do I really need to mention 2016? Really? Was Lebron as well rounded a scorer? No, but that’s not his main focus. He doesn’t take control of games like Jordan does because many times he doesn’t need to. He makes his team mates so much better than they should be. Do you think that Jordan could take a team where his second best players are Mo Williams and Big Z to 66 wins? I just can’t believe that. While I do think Jordan is a underrated passer, he is NOT Lebron James. Lebron is a top five playmaker all time. His vision, accuracy, speed of delivery, and versatility of passes... he’s the second best passer all time only behind Magic. Defensively, Jordan is better. Just flat out better. Sorry to Lebron Stans, but Jordan is the much better defender. However, Lebron is more versatile so take that how you want. Rebounding? Meh. They’re about equal in my opinion. Athleticism? Lebron. Yes Jordan was a freak of nature, but Lebron is so much more athletic it’s not even funny 😂😂 Jordan was around 195-215 and had a 46 inch vertical with great body control and was very quick. Lebron? Add around 35-40 pounds of muscle on top of that, lower his vert by 2 inches, make him faster and have around the same quickness, give him longer arms, and make him 2-3 inches taller and tell me what you got. A freakin demigod. Just to show how stupidly athletic he was, Lebron almost signed with the cowboys in 2011, was the star receiver for his high school and was getting D1 college offers as a sophomore. I think he still holds the record for most yards and TDs ever in that schools history. So, I think Lebron is the better player, buttttt I think Jordan is the greater player. I mean, Lebron shits all time great performances. Off the top of my head here’s some. Game 1 of the 2018 finals, game 6 of the 2012 ECF, game 5 and 7 of the 2016 finals, game 6 of the 2007 ECF, the entire 2009 ECF, all of Lebronto, game 6 and 7 of the 2013 NBA finals, game 6 of the 2018 ECF, should I keep going? That was just off the top of my head. Lebron is the best player in NBA history off of just pure talent, but Jordan is the greatest. Thank you for your time
@KyleMPrep
@KyleMPrep 4 жыл бұрын
Oh and rq, that second three peat was kind of a super team. Jordan and Scottie are both top 50 all time and we’re top 10 to even top 5 depending on who you ask player in the league at the time. Now add another all time great defender and the second greatest rebounder as your third best player along with shooters, defenders, rebounders, etc. yeah you got a super team dude
@jayburton9805
@jayburton9805 4 жыл бұрын
@@KyleMPrep We can go tick for tact all day but all those LeBron credentials doesn't erase his meltdowns. You throw up all-time great performances, right? What about game 6 against Boston in the ECF in 2010? I clearly remember the announcer, Mark Jackson, saying he smelled 'quit.' How bout the, I don't know, 2011 Finals against the Mavs, who were the inferior team? Worst superstar choke I've ever witnessed, and that was with his superteam. You know, Wade, Bosh, and some other descent role players. Jordan has never choked in a finals. Doesn't have that mark on his legacy. That's a significant difference... killer instinct. Jordan went through hell for nearly a decade (with those drafts and free agents you oh so made clear) before capturing a ring. I also remember him making the playoffs his first three years without a Scottie Pippen, who was still in college. Do you remember what the Bulls organization looked like before Jordan got there??? LeBron didn't make the playoffs his first two years. LeBron did all this magic with no-names, huh? I'll give you that. But how competitive was the eastern conference the entirety of LeBron's career? The west was clearly superior for most of that. Ask Kobe. Won't take away from LeBron's greatness or his accomplishments, but not including his evident flaws that keeps him far from a complete competitor as Jordan is silly. But keep reaching.
@KyleMPrep
@KyleMPrep 4 жыл бұрын
Jay Burton I am not defending 2011. I agree that was a choke job. But you bring up game 6 2010 ECF. Name a player on his team that was as good as Paul Pierce that wasn’t Lebron. How about someone as good as Garnett? Rondo? Ray Allen? Yeah I’m sorry but no. You expect Lebron James to take a roster or Daniel Gibson, old Big Z, Mo Williams, a washed up Shaq, Jamario Moon, etc. to the finals, and then compete with the 2010 Lakers? Let’s just look at the ECF. The 2010 Celtics had KG, The Truth, Ray Allen who at the time was considered the greatest shooter ever, a prime Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins who MVP caliber player Dwight Howard said was his toughest defender, Nate Robinson, Glen Davis, Rasheed Wallace, Eddie house, I mean, do I really have to keep going? Do you really expect Lebron to carry that team? Do you expect Jordan to carry that team? Now, let’s say they won, and they went up against the 2010 Lakers. Here’s who they play, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher, and Sasha Vujačić. That’s a pretty good team. Not to mention they were coached by the greatest couch of all time in Phil Jackson. Not to mention his absolutely incapable front office that wouldn’t trade a no name player for a prime Amare Stoudumire. The deal was done until Cleveland got cold feat. You know what Chicago did for Jordan? I’m ‘91 Jordan had a very good team. Now Jordan was clearly the best player, but it was a very good team none the less. You had Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen who was a very good defender and a budding offensive player, Horace Grant, B. J. Armstrong who was a solid PG, John Paxton another good PG, Bill Cartwright who had the ugliest J but it went in, was a good defender and rebounder, and just did the dirty work. He also had the greatest couch of all time in Phil Jackson. Yeah it’s not a bad team what so ever like many people think. So excuse Lebron for going to Miami because he wanted a situation that could actually be successful. I see Lebron getting hate for it, I see Wade getting hate, but what about the original modern super team. I see no one calling out the Celtics for it. Like I said, 2011 doesn’t get enough flack for it, but Lebron was in a lose lose situation. He got everything he could out of his Cleveland rosters.

Look, LeBron is a spectacular player. One of the best we've ever seen. TOP 10 without question, but when people try to make the argument that he is top 5 or even say he's better than MJ is were the convo goes into a realm of idealism vs reality. The reality is Jordan is just as well rounded IF NOT a better all-around player as LeBron. Just as athletic. Has far more career accomplishments and has done so in less time than LeBron (so far). There is no argument. Especially not career wise...

What also his hard to compare is the era they played in, back then the tougher you were the more you succeeded. Flopping wasn't a thing back then because they let you play through a lot more. Someone like Lebron as big as he was, wouldn't be as effective as he is today because the players would elbow you in the back and talk mad shit which could for sure intimidate someone like Lebron who was never mentally as tough compared to someone like Kobe or MJ.

17ppg in the Finals getting shut down single coverage and averaging 2ppg in the fourth quarter and losing in a series when his team had home court advantage. Jordan never lost a series when his team had home court advantage. 6-0 in the NBA finals. NBA Record 6 Finals MVP (doubling the number of the person in 2nd place). Never losing a series when having Home Court Advantage. (meaning he Never lost a series when expected to win) (No other All time Great can say that; not Russell, Not Shaq, Not Bird, Magic, Jabbar, Wilt, Oscar. No one.) Now look at this: i174.photobucket.com/albums/w119/massdagod/mj/ohhh_zps9da0bf9c.png The 1st image was taken in the middle of the 1990 Eastern Conference Finals... SMH @ those numbers. The 2nd image illustrates his legendary record breaking performance from the 1993 NBA Finals.. SMH @ those numbers; In the NBA Finals mind you. The 3rd image was taken a few weeks after the 1993 NBA Finals from SportsCenter stating that "Not Only is Michael Jordan the Best Ever, but it's not even close"; The image itself illustrates Michael Jordan and the help he had compared to the rest of the All Time Greats and the help they had while winning. His father went missing a week after this was broadcast. He retired before the next season started. SMH. The image that I posted above is to show not only what he did, but HOW he did it. Far and away better than everyone else. Now look at his Playoff Records: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_post-season_records Jordan holds a whopping 42 NBA Playoff Records. To put that in prospective, this is how he measures up to other All Time Players: Number of Playoff Records: Michael Jordan - 42 Bill Russell - 15 Wilt Chamberlain - 13 Kareem Abdul Jabbar - 5 Kobe Bryant - 5 Lebron James - 0 Michael Jordan has more Post-Season Records than Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Kobe and Lebron Combined. Men Lie, Women Lie, Numbers Don't. Now read this: Jordan holds the Highest career PER average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest career Efficiency rating average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest career Gamescore average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest career Winshares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest MVP shares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan is the only player to lead the league in Scoring and Win Defensive player of the Year a season. Jordan is the only player to Win a championship, scoring title and steals title in the same season. Jordan is one of 3 players in NBA History to win a NBA scoring championship and NBA Championship in 1 season. George Mikan and Lew Alcindor did it once Each. Jordan did it six times. All six times also leading the playoffs in scoring. Mikan did that once and Alcindor didn't do it at all. Playoff Records: Most points 5,987 by Michael Jordan Highest points per game average (min. 25 games) 33.5 by Michael Jordan (179 games) Most 50-point games 8 by Michael Jordan Most 40-point games 38 by Michael Jordan Most 30-point games 109 by Michael Jordan Only player to score 15+ points in every game (min. 25 games) Michael Jordan (179 games) Only player to record consecutive 50-point games Michael Jordan scored 50 and 55 points in Games 1 and 2 of the 1988 Eastern Conference First Round (Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers). Most consecutive 45-point games 3 by Michael Jordan (May 9-13, 1990) Most consecutive 20-point games 60 by Michael Jordan (June 2, 1989-May 11, 1993) Most consecutive 15-point games 179 by Michael Jordan. This streak entails every playoff game in Jordan's career. Most consecutive 10-point games 179 by Michael Jordan. This streak entails every playoff game in Jordan's career. Overall Records: Jordan holds the Highest career PPG average in Regular season history. Jordan holds the Highest career PPG average in Post season history. (compared to Wilt Chamberlain who is 29th in PPG in Post season history at 22ppg) Jordan holds the Highest career PPG average in NBA Finals history. Statically speaking, Jordan has the Highest and most impressive Career Statistical Average in regular season, post season and Finals NBA history. Jordan wasn't a "poor" 3 point shooter. He was a regular one, he wasn't curry but in the finals with the normally 3point line he has 40% and his worst 3p% he tried 0.7 per game. There is no context, there isn't clear which ones where half court shorts or one that you try when the games is over with 2 seconds. When he tried a nice volumen of 3 point attempts he was with 36%-39% that is a good 3 point shoot. He wasn't the best and wasnt Good, he was acceptable, wasn't one of his greatness but also wasn't a flaw.

I'm no Lebron hater, I think he's great. But there's certain things that will ALWAYS make MJ the GOAT. Lebron has never shown the same heart that MJ had in spades. Lebron literally has a top 10 and top 20 flop list, there's a list! That's something MJ just wouldn't do and that says it all for me. Then on top of that MJ has Lebron in most (not all) other aspects.

@weewee203ohSpecz

Russell is great but in this time I think he wouldn't put up many points cos if he was putting up like 25 PPG then then now he'd put up like no more than 15 maybe like 10 doe. And 25 rebounds will prolly drop to like 15. And I think he average like 8 blocks lol which will prolly drop to like 3 in this gen. He'll still be great but not like back then. He'd prolly average like 15 REB, 15 PPG and 3 BLK. Maybe. Definitely not 11 chips. If he's on warriors then he'd get like 40 peat. Lebron still the GOAT doe.
@LegendOfWinningNBA
@LegendOfWinningNBA 8 жыл бұрын
...25pts??? yea just to let you know Russell never averaged over 20pts his entire career and the amount of blks he avg is completely unknown since the NBA never recorded blocks. Also, atleast in my eyes, Russell isn't GOAT because of the rings, he is GOAT because he defined the Center position

Rings don't mean fucking shit just stop with that. Ask me if Russell can guard Lebron or Jordan? Umm? Nope! He can't. Lebron can guard anyone also Jordan cos he's just as athletic and bigger and stronger. Which means Jordan can't guard Lebron. Lebron is a 6'8 Point God or Point forward... umm? FAX? Umm? L?

I am curious as to the age of some of the commenters on this video. I have watched magic, mj and Lebron. Not from historical numbers but as it was happening. There is NO question that MJ is the goat. Let on will eclipse Jordan's numbers. But that isn't telling you the story. Jordan's numbers came when they mattered most. Clutch in the fourth if needed. Put most teams away by the middle of the third, played in the era of hand checking which makes a HUGE difference. And there is no one I would rather have the ball with at the end of the game. You fans are young. Too young to really remember Jordan. Trust me. Jordan was leagues ahead of Lebron

I thought this was a fair analysis of a daunting and controversial topic - very hard to compare players of different eras - that being said, a few things I want to highlight. When LBJ went to Miami and they lost to Dallas, LBJ didn't feel like the leader. Dwayne Wade had a ring, it was Wade's team, it would have been hard for LBJ to not defer to someone that had proven playoff experience and accolades. Also, let's look at teammates - Jordan said that Pippen was the best player in the league and had few weaknesses and when Jordan left to play baseball the year his Dad was murdered, Pippen and the Bulls won only a few games less that following season. After years with the Cavs, the team built so little around him, that when he left they were last...dead last. One player can't win championships...and LBJ almost did. You put just ONE player on LBJ's early Cleveland teams and we see a different history. Great video.
@LegendOfWinningNBA
@LegendOfWinningNBA 8 жыл бұрын
thanks for the input. I completely agree with what you said about LBJ teammates. LeBron carrying that Cavs team to the Finals is one of the greatest thing I jave ever seen, but that Dallas series was so disappointing that I can't excuse it. Also I do think if LeBron had a player like Pippen his first few years with the Cavs would've been more successful

If a raw unsuspecting Piippen began alongside James, he most likely would have been a scrub or another raw 'potential' player that didn't make it (and we've seen hundreds of those in the past 50 years). So its' not fair to say 'Jordan had Pippen'.... really? he 'had' him, or did the coaching and Jordan 'make' him. Same with McHale and Bird. Would McHale have ever been something without Bird? Winning basketball is about only four things: (1) Star player leadership and the ability to help others around you grow, or at the least the star must give others a sense of confidence and strong family unit team spirit (2) Team chemistry and how players complement each other at both ends of the floor, (3) Coaching staff with high level skills alongside the equally important qualities needed from the previous (1), and (4) Great floor IQ throughout the team (usually with little imbalance) with the full understanding of defensive switches and where to stand/move without the ball on both offense and defense. It's not James fault, or Garnett (didn't know how to be a leader, only knew to pump up his teammates with chestbanging and swearing) or Kobe (didn't understand leadership until after 10 years in the league) for not having the leadership skills required - it's the NBA for allowing young pups with no college to come into the league. I guarantee you had those three gone to college training and survived healthy bodies, they would have been better leaders. When 'proven' all-stars with experience (big time franchise players) are traded to be alongside other big time all-stars, then that is silly and is why the NBA is the most predictable sport by far. Yes Jabbar got lucky that Magic turned out to be great, but he wasn't proven as an the NBA when he joined the first year, he just happened to have sprouted perfectly and quickly... same with Duncan. And Pippen took a few years longer to grow. None of those examples parallel stupid trades of 'proven' players like what Miami did in 06 or Boston in 08 or Miami in '11 (which was laughable, considering they actually took huge pay cuts to stack the team with the best 3 players in the conference in their respective positions LOLOLOL) ..... the NBA is stupid. After Jordan retired, the league has become more of a joke than ever... I only watch it for the sake of watching an old school team Spurs which kept its core players without incredible all-star status and never complain and quit the team or retired after all those heartbreaking playoff losses where they were favored.. instead, they stuck it out for many years well far past winning the first 4 titles, and got rewarded by going to the finals TWO MORE TIMES and winning one of them in the GREATEST THRASHING OF AN INCREDIBLE STAR CALIBRE TEAM (MIAMI) LIKE NO OTHER STAR CALIBRE TEAM OF SIMILAR TO MIAMI'S CALIBRE HAD EVER BEEN DESTROYED BEFORE IN THE FINALS LOSING Y 20+ POOINTS ON THEIR OWN COURT TWICE IN A ROW AND BEING DEMORALIZED TO THE POINT OF CRYING AND BREAKING UP THE TEAM AND QUITTING!! DID SAN ANTONIO QUIT WHEN THEY LOST TO MEMPHIS IN THE FIRST ROUND A FEW YEARS AGO EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE FAVORED TO MAKE THE FINALS? DID THEY GIVE UP WHEN THEY LOST TO THE CLIPPERS (BARELY) IN 2015 BECAUSE SPLITTER WAS PLAYING AT 60% AND PARKER AT 70%, BOTH DUE TO INJURIES (IT'S A WONDER COACH POPS EVEN RISKED PLAYING THEM). DID THEY SAY TO THEMSELVES "WELL, MAYBE PARKERS DAYS ARE DONE, MAYBE THE TEAM OVERALL IS GETTING OLD, MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST PACK IT IN" NO NO NO DID YOU SEE MANU AND TIM RETIRE? NO NO NO.... AND HOW ABOUT SOME OF THE OTHER QUESTIONABLE PLAYOFF SERIES THEY LOST FROM 2008 TO NOW? HOW ABOUT LOSING TO OKC AFTER DESTROYING THEM BY OVER 40 POINTS? HOW ABOUT THE LOSS TO MIAMI WHERE THEY HAD MIAMI IN GAME 6 AND IT WAS OVER AND TOOK THE COMBINATION OF SEVERAL FACTORS SUCH AS A MISSED EASY LAYUP BY DUNCAN, A MISSED FREE THROW BY LEONARD AND ONE GREAT SHOT FROM BOTH LEBRON AND ALLEN, ESPECIALLY ALLEN!!! WHERE THAT SHOT WAS THERE CLINCHER TO EVEN SURVIVE THE GAME.... SO JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT THE BIG THREE 'WEREN'T EVEN ENOUGH', THEY NEEDED A SAN ANTONIO FINAL MINUTE MENTAL BREAKDOWN COMBINED WITH A 'FOURTH' ALL-STAR CALIBRE PLAYER ON MIAMI TO HIT THAT SHOT! AS A FAN IT WAS A DEPRESSING MOMENT IN BASKETBALL, BUT THEY MORE THAN MADE UP FOR IT BY CRUSHING AND EMBARRASSING MIAMI IN 2015..... WHEN THOSE GUYS RETIRE THERE IS NO BASKETBALL TEAM WORTH WATCHING THAT IS BUILT LIKE THAT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY.... JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT GOLDEN STATE WAS POTENTIALLY THAT NEXT TEAM TO FLOURISH WITHOUT BS TRADES, THEY GO AND GET DURANT - FUCKING ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!! .

Were you even around in the 90's or late 80's? I was born in the late 90's so I got to watch the tail end of mj's career. Every kid who never watched mj, because all they know is that mj was amazing, cause the media puts it that way. Also, this generation has never watched mj's STRUGGLES. He could barely make it past the first round without pippen, but Lebron MADE THE FINALS when the second best player on his team was ANDERSON VAREJAO. Lebron does a lot of things better than mj. He's more versatile, he's a better passer, rebounder, blocker, paint presence, etc. MJ just had shooting, iq, and the clutch factor over him. Rings don't mean everything. With that logic bill russell is the greatest of all time. I'm pretty sure everyone saying MJ is better is just young, or a lebron hater

I totally agree with your conclusion. Michael Jordan is still #1, and it absolutely comes down to 2011 Finals. If the Heat won that one, then we're currently looking at a tie. The crazy thing is, that Lebron's performance against the Warriors, which was the greatest ever seen by any player ever, made 2011 a non-issue when comparing him to every other player besides Russell and Jordan. But Jordan especially is so great that 2011 still counts with him. Lebron will need to win one more ring against a stacked Warriors team to tie Russell, and 2-3 rings just to tie Jordan. The thing with Jordan is, that he basically won 6 rings in a row with a 1.5 year break in between. Lebron is probably never coming close to matching that feat, so he'll have to at least match Jordan in total rings.

One intangible that is not always considered is the ERA and the RULES in which these players played. The era and rules where MJ played was, in my opinion, the toughest and most challenging. As you can see where MJ was being man handled by the Bad Boy Pistons, it is apparent that today's rules are way, way softer. In MJ's era, there were dozens of Hall of famers that were playing the game. You can't discredit them or downplay them because they were Dr.J, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Stockton, Malone and a host of others. If THOSE guys played today with those soft rules, they would dominate the game like hell. Just imagine Hakeem, Jabar and Parish playing the court, it would be a nightmare. LBJ is great in his own respect and I believe he would surpass MJ's accolades if he would press himself for it but if LBJ would have played in MJ's era and rules, I don't think he would be that hot. I'm thinking he would be like a Shawn Kemp or a Penny Hardaway. These are just my opinion of course but it's worth thinking over when discussing MJ and LBJ.
@gofish0721
@gofish0721 8 жыл бұрын
Questionable analysis. He cites LBJ as deferring to Wade too much. Mavs double teamed up high continually and "deferred" to a more open future HoFer and that's a fault? Sounds like someone in the flow of the game and uses some common sense. Maybe that's why LBJ averaged more assists than MJ. Too many stupid other reasons he uses to come up with his ratings in each category. I think he had a final number/outcome in mind and then tries to seem systematic in getting to it. Never saw a young MJ take a totally mediocre team to the finals like LBJ in 3rd or 4th year with the woeful Cavs. Someone pointed out that the year following when he left the Cavs they won less than 20 games while after MJ stepped out twice, the Bulls made it into the top half of the east twice and had a good playoff run. LBJ's last finals of leading all players in 5 major categories (ppg, apg, rpg, stls, and blks) is a performance beyond any that MJ had. Could MJ make that block in game 7? Freakishly great. Where was MJ at 18 when LBJ was beginning to dominate the NBA? That speaks volumes to his athleticism that is probably beyond anything ever in the NBA. I guess that bottom line each person would have to answer to decide who is greater is if you were a GM and could draft either player, who would you take? That is personal choice and non-scientific in it's answer. This guy tries unsuccessfully to answer it that way tho...

I don't know anyone who acts like Jordan was perfect but I'll let you go along with that narrative. The fact is this is not as close as you made it seem. Just like James, Jordan had seasons where he'd hit the three consistently and he did set a finals record before. Also, just because people say James can guard those positions, doesn't mean he does it effectively or consistently because he doesn't. Jordan guarded 1through 3 consistently and effectively his whole career. He got crossed by Iverson who is the quickest player in league history when he was considered old. The point is that at that age he was guarding the quickest player the league has ever seen which proves his defensive versatility. Jordan wins by a much greater gap than you gave him.

Great vid and agreed on all points (except on the Mavs Finals deferment, LJ was outside shooting like crap while Mavs shut down the driving lanes and he let it get into his head). However I approach this question a bit differently; if you had to choose between MJ and LJ for your "perfect team with players from any era" hypothetical, which would you choose? For me it's LJ 100%. Being great is great. Making everyone around you better than they are is really special, and that's a really rare quality that MJ had to some extent but it just wasn't even close to LJ's level.

Legend Of Winning I disagree with a lot of the things you said in the video, but I'm going to click 'like' on it anyway because I can't help but respect the work you obviously put into it. But to give an example of something I disagree with is Jordan's weakness as a long range jump shooter. It's true that for the first half his time with the bulls he was below average from behind the line at best. But he started to practice it in the later part of his time with the bulls because his athleticism began to decline and he became a solid long range shooter. LeBron on the other hand has practiced his long range game for practically his whole career and he's maintained a consistently inconsistent shot from outside. James just doesn't have an ideal shooting form. But aside that, as of right now it's the only weakness he has left to work on in my opinion.

LeBron made it with lack luster players as then play great against great teams In the West. so of course he lost in the finals. those teams were not yet development as championship teams. even Miami was not a championship team

I have and always will say Jordan is one of the best athletes I have watched and that guy played every single minute, every single quarter and every single game to win. He was also such a cultural icon, a dick? probably but he was huge....damn look how long his shoe legacy has lasted.

I think if Jordan had wade and bosh he would’ve won 10 rings. The things that people are not looking at is u can ask Jordan to play like Lebron with all those shooters surrounding him, but u cant ask Lebron to do the same in a triangular system as Jordan. Jordan was a more polished player than Lebron and he’ll be able to do more in a Lebron system and probably be even more dominant because of his postup abilities.

The only way Lebron can redeem his finals record and erase that 2011 performance is if he goes to the finals against the warriors this up coming season win again. This is what he needs to be considered the G.O.A.T. to me and im sure many others. Even then it would be a very close comparison though.

As a huge LeBron fan, I 100% agree with this video. I do think MJ is still the GOAT, however LeBron is in that same class with him, top 2. And I get irritated with ppl who refuse to give LeBron that, LeBron is up there with MJ, he isn't better, but dammit he's in that stratosphere.

Looking at this rationally we have to understand the way the NBA has changed. I have to look at the toughness of the league during Jordan's prime compared to the toughness now. With that being said, the league is soft now compared to the days that Dennis Rodman and the Pistons showed up on the court for an all out BRAWL. Back in those days Jordan competed against guys that would rather DIE than loose. Lebron is tough, and has had no major injuries but had he came up in Jordans era I highly doubt he could have walked away without a CONCUSSION.

My thing about sports is you can't comapre players from different eras. You can't compare, Messi and Pele, Crosby and Gretzky, Montana and Brady. Sure you can but you can never come to a conclusion. LeBron plays in an era without hand checks. MJ played in an era of man only defence. MJ and LeBron are the goats of their own era.

We all know that Lebron James is a greater talent than even Michael Jordan. We just don't want to let him think he is better because he is a greater talent, so we reduce the argument to statistics, clutch gene, and all that garbage. Lebron is a better overall player than Michael Jordan, period. I compare them by age rather than years in the league...And at a comparable age up to 31, Lebron is better than Jordan was in every comparable way every for every year of age up to this point in terms of total statistics. I don't buy the 6 for 6 argument. Not making championships certain years so that it preserves your undefeated record in championship series is not better for your legacy than getting to more champions and losing more because you increase the likelihood of losing the more you go to. If Lebron plays is 10 Championships and wins six with six MVPs which is highly possible if he plays until he is 38 or so, then he is a greater than Jordan because he got to more championships. Getting to championships counts for something over not getting to championships even if you are undefeated in the championships you get to. The more championships you get to and how fast your got to them given your relative age means more in my eyes. At 31 lebron has been to 4 more championships than Michael did at 31, and that means his career trajectory has the chance to be greater than Michael's when it is all said and done. Lebron has hit tons of clutch shots, and statistically has been shown to be very clutch in the last 3 minutes of a game or so. People act like Michael never missed clutch shots. And Michael gets too much credit as if he did it by himself. Scottie Pippen deserves equal credit for ALL of the championships the Bulls won. Michael knows it and all of the Bulls teammates on those teams know it and would say it behind close doors. And the overall talent level in the league is better than when Jordan played. We all know it. The leauge was more physical because of rules not because guys now a days are soft. But guys now are bigger, faster, and stronger and better athletes from top to bottom. That is proven. And I don't feel bad in saying it because everyone now adays works harder and longer than guys did back then. Everyone works out all year long, everyone lifts, and everyone follows a diet. When Jordan played, that simply wasn't the case and the eyeball test shows it. The best players now adays aren't better than the best players from the past, but the average player is. This is simply a more competitive era in terms of talent level of guys playing where everyone who plays is an elite athlete. In Jordan's time not everyone was an elite athlete. Jordan would not go 6 fo 6 in this era. He knows it, and everyone who plays now adays knows it.
