People always praise Giancarlo for being accountable. But what does that mean? What sort of initiative is G taking to improve his game? Is he going to visit DriveLine in the offseason? Is he going to change up his training program so he is physically capable of running? Is he going to change up his stance? How about not batting .188 in the first place?

We have Cashman and Boone watching Stanton, try to run, play the outfield and try to hit. Still they bat him 4th. 3rd. or 5th. He belongs 8th as long as he is here. I am 77 years old, played HS baseball as a starter since freshman, played local semi pro ball, then played fast pitch softball since I was 44 years old and had to quit at 64 due to a heart condition. But I guarantee my swing at 77 is better than Stanton's and my reflexes and eyes to the pitched ball are enough to know to lay off the outside slider/curve from almost any ML pitcher that throws it to him and Judge. He's a Tuna fish out of water and like that fish he can't run, and he can't judge fly balls, or swing a bat better than that fish could. For Stanton along with Hicks, Pavano, Elsbury, and a fist full of others Cashman has cost Fans and Hal big $ and now they raised ticket prices again. Well, Hal you and the mice and crickets have fun watching games from Yankee Stadium next season! What a disgraceful display of Baseball knowledge and Fan appreciation this lackluster team of misfits and front office nerds we have been dealt since the disaster of 2017 when Cashman did what he did. End of rant.

I am 80 and a fan since around 1950 and I think Stanton should be out of lineup and only used to maybe pinch hit. No more in lineup each day. He may be suffering from aging. He deserves respect. Decision on his position at off season.

The problem isn’t just Stanton per se. It starts at the top. This organization desperately needs to strip the entire front office from Cashman to their scouts, player development staff, analytics team, medical staff (I’m sure they are to blame for Rizzo not being properly diagnosed and put on the shelf from that concussion), coaches and even the manager before they will ever be a contender. Just think for a moment, the number of free agents that they let slip through their hands over the last five years. Perfect case in point was the pitcher that shut them down last night (Gausman) - why didn’t we sign him????. The sad part is that Hal is only concerned about making money (and they are) so he does nothing! The only way for him to “get-it” is for the fans to boycott. Perhaps if the average attendance drops down to 15 to 20,000 per game and the YES network ratings plummet, maybe Hal will wake up!!!

This is exactly what happened to Hicks,Gallo, Donaldson and now Stanton. When you are struggling in New York the fans are gonna let you here it, the problem is when you become the main person struggling. There’s a difference in struggling and hearing it from the fans and struggling so much that you start to doubt yourself as a baseball player. Stanton just needs a fresh start whether that be with the Yankees or with another team a new season is the exact confidence boost this man needs right now

You're missing the point. It isn't that he's in a hitting slump and we aren't being patient with him. His body has fallen apart, he can't even run the bases any more. It's not an injury, just premature aging. Same for LeMahieu.

Stanton is in his mid thirties. The Yankees just have to deal with the mediocre tailend of Stanton's contract, which anybody with a little bit of baseballsense could see coming. Hicks was never a Bernie Williams and is the kind of player who will have 'off' years. With the high expectations in New York such an offyear can kill you, as it starts to mess with your mind.

It's hard to straighten out abilities you lost by getting older. With the game speeding up over the last 10 to 15 years it is more and more becoming a young men's game. Stanton is into his mid thirties and the odds of him having a good year without injuries are not in his favour.

@user-mn9wc5ru5w
@user-mn9wc5ru5w Жыл бұрын
NOT using steroids is what this indicates because he's still somewhat young. Guys that get as big and muscular as Stanton often beat their bodies into oblivion to get there and that's all fine and well for bodybuilding where you just stand in place and flex, or powerlifting where you literally just compete by doing sets of 1 rep. But for a professional athlete competing in this sort of sport, the joint damage, muscle tightness, stiffness, all that stuff that comes from being overly muscular and constant heavy weight training, it's gonna wreck your career.

This is the real reason Yankee fans are so disgusted with Brian. It isn't just one bad year. Many of his deals have led up to this moment, where the bubble has finally burst and the Yankees are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can't rebuild because of Judge, Cole and the fact that the franchise needs to make money. They also don't have enough young talent to supplant the guys they had to get rid of and they have such a tax hit, that adding FAs is going to cost them more than any other team at this point (sans the Mets, whose owner prints money). This is a culmination of many years of failed band aids.

I have no proof of this, but I think cashman didn’t want him. Jeter went to every team that Stanton would accept a trade with and nothing was done. Jeter probably went to Steinbrenner and begged him to take Stanton. Jeter probably told him I’ll do some old timers games and some other appearances. Again, I have no proof just a guess.

So glad they didn't get Machado. Dirty player. Hurt a few guys intentionally. Would've been a locker room problem and not worth the money. Now Harper... I was all for it. Huge lefty bat. Yanks have been way too right-handed in the House That Ruth Built (rather the clone of the House That Ruth Built). Another Cashen misstep.

Cashman needs to be fired immediately. He traded Montgomery to St. Louis for Bader because he said Gumby wouldn't make the post seMonason roster. So we got Bader in a "boot." So when Bader didn't pan out, he was released. Now, Montgomery is pitching for Texas who will probably win the AL west despite loosing Scherzer. And the Sanchez deal was incredibly bad. As Kay said at the time, "they should have just released Sanchez" and eat the $9,000,000. But Cashman continues to double down on used up, high priced stars. He has to go - TODAY!

Stanton's first 4 years with the Yankees were as expected... he basically put up the same numbers as he did his entire career with the Marlins, around an .870 OPS with a 40 HR/162 game average. It's the last 2 years that have really made the overall view of him really bad (that, plus all the missed games). The only thing that hasn't suffered in his game is his HR rate, but everything else has fallen off a cliff.

The fans haven't been accusing him of dogging it, either. Nobody is blaming him. How these guys like Stanton and LeMahieu have seemingly collapsed in their early to mid-30's is not something you can blame on the front office, in my opinion. LeMahieu turned it around and has put together a somewhat decent season, but Stanton hasn't at all. Granted Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols are two of the greatest hitters who ever lived, but those two were shells of their former-selves those last two years and yet still managed to scrape .250+ averages. Pujols hit .270 with 24 home runs his last season, although he was in a much, MUCH better situation in St. Louis last year. I believe my point remains though. Even when past M.V.P.'s were broken down, they were still able to do _something_ , whereas this guy Stanton, at a still relatively young age, seemingly cannot do _anything_ . Maybe just let the guy rest? Take an year off even? I don't know, I feel for the guy.

@@GeraldM_inNC You can blame Cashman and the front office for a lot, I'm not denying that, but Lehmahieu was a 29 year old career .298 hitter when he came here, and he hit .327 and .364 his first two seasons in New York before he signed. Giancarlo Stanton was a 27 year old reigning M.V.P., fresh off of a 59 home run season where he also lead the entire A.L./N.L. in R.B.I. So yeah, of all their mistakes, it's very tough to blame those two moves on them. Doing so is pure hindsight.

"You can look back and say that was a terrible deal. At the time it was made nobody thought that." Plenty of people thought that. I've got receipts on this one in the form of time stamped social media rants. lol We were in the minority, but there were people pointing out that this was an injury-plagued strikeout artist whose contract was going to become an albatross as he aged into his body, that essentially did exactly what the guy in front of him in the order does which is called redundancy. I don't think any of us thought it would go THIS bad. But it didn't even have to go this bad to have been a bad idea. Even if he had done reasonably well it still hamstrung our lineup and our payroll. You can't have as many strikeout artists in the lineup as we've had in the last 6 years. That's baseball malpractice. The majestic home runs are great. There's a lot more that goes into winning championships.

@@thomasvinelli I won't defend Hicks, but I'll say this as a Yankee fan. I find it incredibly embarrassing that Yankee fans feel it's their "right" to boo our own players in the short term. With other teams throughout the league, a player is traded or signs elsewhere and returns home and gets a standing ovation. To me, incessantly booing your own players is classless, not to mention if you want someone to get out of a slump, putting more pressure on said player perhaps only contributes to their struggles, so it also defies logic.

Hal needs to read "Driving Mr. Yogi" by Ron Guidry. As great a book as it was about the friendship between Yogi and Guidry, it speaks to the aura of Yankee greats being instrumental in spring training and management. Gene Michaels used statistics to build his championship teams. But spin rates, exit velocity and launch angle were never a consideration (nor was it available at the time) OBS, batting average, especially with RISP were the focal point. Cashman is poison.
