Michael Kelly has come to be one of my favorite actors. It's wierd to say that about a TV actor (Netflix, same thing), but there are very few actors who I think can play a role like Doug in House of Cards well. There's a huge range of emotions for the character to display, and it's hard to get all of the subtleties of such a complex character without essentially over acting, I would imagine. I don't want to get into reviewing the character, suffice it to say I think he's played the 'dark and mysterious yet loyal and passionate' character better than I've ever seen it played in another series/film. The mystery to a character like this is often spoiled very quickly, and House of Cards has done a great job of keeping that reclusive character's psychology somewhat of a mystery. Many actors just couldn't do that, because they can't help but over accentuate. Often times I see the actor spoils a character more than the direction or the writing.

I completely agree. To play svch a complex character takes a lot of tlent, and a big amount of work. He shovdl get more recognition for it I think -Same as Nikolaj Coster-Walsau, playing Jaime Lannister in GoT. Maybe the most complext character of the show :o
