The most underrated player in history, its a crime so few people rave about him, he really was special

His maturity is also sky high. Lots of people could learn from him.

Well. His peers knows about him. As did every player form the Barcelona youth academy, Messi included. They taught him, Messi, the Laudrup 'vision'. As you can hear.

Such a silky player. His drop of the shoulder and leaving an opponent for dead, was amazing; it’s like you knew he was gonna do it, but the defender would fall for it every time

Laudrup is my favourite player. Loved watching him play for Barca when I was growing up. I would have liked if Graham had asked him about all the quotes from legends of the game who say that Laudrup rarely played at 100%. That he was a bit sensitive and withdrawn. That, even tho he was one of the greats, he rarely actually played to his true football ability on the pitch. Cruyff said "Had Michael been born in a poor ghetto in Brazil or Argentina with the ball being his only way out of poverty he would today be recognized as the biggest genius of the game ever. He had all the abilities to reach it but lacked this ghetto-instinct, which could have driven him there." Platini said "One of the biggest talents ever. The best in the world on the training pitch, but never used his talent to its full during matches".. What a claim!! Theres other quotes out there like this. Id be very curious to know what Michael thinks about them. Does he know what they mean? Does he agree/disagree? Even tho we all think he was great did we see him reach his pinnacle during games or was he even better then we realised? Was he much better on the training pitch as Platini suggests? I find that hard to believe tbh since he was so good on the pitch. Also I would have liked to hear what Laudrup thought about the game, especially as a kid. Who was his favorited player? What age was he when he realized he had a special ability? How much does he love the game itself(not all the fame but the actual game) etc. Does he ever play for fun anymore? Does he miss playin? I know Graham touched on some of that at the end but I would have loved much more in-depth. Finally I really would have loved to hear him discuss how good a footballer his dad and brother was. But especially the dad. Most of us know how good Brian was. Theres only a few clips of his dad Finn. But he does look exceptional in those clips. Very like Michael. Id love to have known what Michael thought of his dad as a player. If he felt he was as good as his 2 sons? Did his dad coach him. Is he a major influence on how Michael and Brians elegant style? What does Finn think of Michael (& Brian) as player/s? He must be immensely proud. Anyway Im not complaining. It was a great interview with loads covered.

As a Dutch I grew upt with Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard as my Football Hero's. But in that time´-period Maradona, Michael Laudrup and later on Romario, were my absolute foreign hero`s.Thank you M. Laudrup for all the joy you brought in my youth!

Just look at what people Michael was influenced by, Allan Simonsen, Elkjær Lerby, F. Arnesen, Platini. To me it seems Michael was really good at learning from others. He got all of them in his play.

Great Interview! You should interivew Zinedine Zidane and ask him if he has been influenced by Michael Laudrup, I see a lot of similarities between Zidane & Laudrup elegance. Zidane often refer to Enzo Francescoli as a model he tried to copy, he often said I tried tor replicate all his move, he mentioned that he was fascinated by this player when he was younger.

I witnessed Michael Laudrup enter the scenes in the Euros 1984, when I was 15, and he swept everybody of their feet at national levels and again in Mexico 1986 where he was the elegantier of the tournament. Unfortunately in both tournaments Denmark was unable to make it to the finals as they were inexperienced and unlucky. In 1992 Laudrup was at his peak but abstained from national football as the coach and he didn't see eye to eye on many things and Denmark played a style that didn't suit Michael who was the leading star in Barca´s Dream Team. Thats when Denmark won the Euro????? Strange how life plays its games with us;-) Glad to hear Him mention Zico. Brazil in 1982 with Zico as captain, and Laudrup in Barca was always my two major inspirations in football. Thanks for a great interview.

Really good questions btw. I remember an article in the 80's. The national starplayers and DBU got an request from USA. About a father that wanted his son to be educated to be a starplayer. It got dismissed, since the notion was it was something that cant be teached. The player them self would say 80-90% is training the rest is talent. I remember this since it was such a good questions. Take martial arts they also have the spiritual educations as well, in some of them. Like the teaching of Bruce Lee, you got go from were you are, not what you wanted to be. But as in all sport you got repeat and train your body and mind, so you do it in an auto mode. But the world still did not got another Bruce Lee. About the Billard, he meant the Cone billard where you slightly have to push the ball 5 cm around the cones. Actually very difficult to do. Laudrup could do that with a football in full speed.
