Falcons blew it. Atlanta could use draft assets, or a trade players, to move up to draft another QB a year or two from now. Penix is a wasted pick because he won't contribute now. Falcons should've gone defense with that pick this year. The Cousins deal reeks of the mistake made by Denver with Russel Wilson. Another aging QB looking for one last big paycheck -- and a guy who's performance is already tapering off. And what has Cousins accomplished in his career? He's above average (not close to great) and won just ONE playoff game. What is Atlanta thinking?

I feel the same. By spending that money on Cousins they seemed to be saying they were all in to try and win now. They should have tried to address other issues. But they just didn't want some of the lower teams to get a QB so they took him to prevent him from being picked elsewhere. Short-sighted.

Penix is a better QB than Ridder. That's why they drafted him. Cousins is also coming off of a serious injury. He can re-injure and Penix is a better backup. Makes a lot of sense.
