Really cool and daring to make a Heatmor deck! And take it to such a high tier event! If only Sea of Nothingness had been legal at the time, this matchup might have gone differently. Although I do love Greninja so I ain't really mad :) Just a shame not to see more streams of this Heatmor deck! :P

Sea of Nothingness keeps status conditions through evolution, meaning a paralyzed Froakie would have evolved into a paralyzed Frogadier, which evolves into a paralyzed Greninja that can't Shadow Stitch. If the stadium had been in play Michael would have had to have a Field Blower or Brooklet Hill before he evolved, which is completely possible (Michael doesn't play Guzma in this list last I checked so no escaping to a benched Greninja), and he could have still used his abilities regardless of being paralyzed so it'd have still been a tough match. Who can really say for sure, but I think not having such an easy out through simple evolution might have given Sander more of a chance; then again he did flip like six tails so his luck had clearly ran out. :P

Michael is not in any rush at all. With his 3 Brooklet and 3 Blower all he has to do is wait for his combo cards. It's pretty much inevitable for Michael to get a shadow stitch off. He also ran Skyla. Anything else is wishful thinking.

I want to understand this game so bad. Playing the game online helps (as well as not needing tons of physical cards sitting around) but damn I wanna be this good. I don’t think I’ll ever get it.

Jojo_is_a_GO Asking an experienced player(that has patience) to explain stuff to you helps a lot, hopefully you'll even make some friends! Tbh it's pretty hard to understand tournament gameplay videos overall cuz too much stuff is happening altogether really fast and if you're not familiar with the deck or certain cards you get lost easily (sometimes I lose track myself lol) You should start with watching fundamental deck guides/commentaries then with more understanding about the meta decks/cards I believe you'll get it soon enough! :))

First, learn how to play on tcg online, then, look up what's good and then advance to tcgone.com which doesn't teach you how to play but it lets you have any card when you're making a deck, try to go to a local card store and play tournaments.

Ehm can someone explain what happened in that first game ? The one where Michael concedes. His pokemon gets into "paralyzed" mode and I don't see why ! I think that is the thing I'm not getting. Also the "discard pile revival" attack of the pokemon Sander has in play is in no way a silver bullet cause you need two heads and you're not doing any damage meanwhile ! Sooo... I don't see why the concede, but obviously I'm missing something ! Also I'm not sure I fully understand why you would want to devolve your pokemon... even if it is to get them back to your hand, isn't the point to put them from your hand onto a pokemon anyways in the end ? Devolving seems like a waste of an action in the next turn...
@sanderwojcik2049
@sanderwojcik2049 6 жыл бұрын
The Raichu puts the opponent's pokémon in paralysis when it evolves, but only that one time when it evolves (this is its 'ability'). Paralysis only lasts for a turn and stops attacking and retreating during that turn. By using Heatmor to get a card back that lets you devolve your own pokémon, the Pikachu can be evolved into a Raichu then devolved back to Pikachu, applying the paralyze condition every turn this way. Once this loop gets set up, Michael plays no cards that help him get out of it. In game 1, he concedes when the paralyze chain is set up, in order to save time for the next games. However, Greninja importantly has an attack that stops abilities from working for a turn. This way, the ability that Raichu has can't be used in the first place to put Greninja in paralysis. As long as Michael can continue attacking with this ability-blocking attack Greninja has, Raichu can't be used. So Greninja stops Raichu from working, but once Raichu does get the opening to chain its ability, there's no way out from Michaels side. Michael tries to prevent anything he has in play from getting trapped in paralysis as much as possible (evolving also removes paralysis, so he doesn't fully evolve his pokémon untill it is needed) while keeping up the pressure. Meanwhile, to counteract this, Pikachu has an attack that inflicts paralysis on a coinflip, so these Pikachus are used (since they aren't ability-reliant like Raichu) to get the initial paralysis in place. Once Michael misses a turn of attacking with his Greninja due to this paralysis from a Pikachu, the Raichu chain can function properly, since the ability-locking attack from Greninja will be gone. But if Michael can take 6 prizes while maintaining his string of attacks from Greninja, he wins. His Greninja Breaks help him take the final prizes quickly, but he restrains from evolving up to the Breaks any earlier, because he may need them to remove paralysis from Pikachu. Starting Tapu Fini (or any other non-Froakie basic for that matter) essentially losses him the game in game 1, since it can be brought up, and once paralysed by a Pikachu, the Tapu Fini can't evolve up to remove the paralysis condition, so it's stuck for a turn, the ability lock from Greninja's attack gets broken, and the Heatmor/Raichu chain can begin to apply paralysis every turn. This isn't seen fully in action though, because of the smart scoop my Michael to save time. As far as Heatmor's attack goes, Vicitini lets you reflip once for an attack (also an ability), so taking this into account, Heatmor recovers 1.25 cards on average per turn (or: it averages out on getting back 5 cards in 4 turns), so it not only recovers enough to maintain the Raichu 'loop', given enough time it will also slowly generate card advantage.

Heatmor has an attack that says flip 2 coins for each heads put a card from your discard pile into your hand for each heads, there is also a card called victini that lets him re roll and Raichu has an enology called evo shock that parazlyes your opponent so you use devolution spray (lets you pick the Raichu off of your pikachu) and put it back down onto another pikachu and you get devolution spray back with heatmor

1 commentator- observant and knowledgable (somewhat) calls plays and strategies and informs viewers on things they might not know. The other commentator- misses everything. Rambles on incoherently. Mixes players names up. Misses basic plays and observations. Misunderstands plays called by colleague. No knowledge of strategy. Utterly, utterly useless.

@tlewtree 6 жыл бұрын
Blargen Not really sure what you mean to be honest. Don’t know how the videos I’ve liked has any relation to the commentator being unknowledgeable...also pretty stalkerish dude. But seeing as you brought it up, I like Yellow swallow because he’s entertaining. If you disagree with that that’s your opinion but it has no relation to being knowledgeable or otherwise. As for the JRM video, I absolutely fundamentally disagree with everything he stands for. His political views and standpoint and his personal beliefs. The reason I liked the video is because the way he puts across his viewpoint is excellent in my opinion. He knows his personal beliefs are the minority view and doesn’t pretend otherwise and doesn’t push those beliefs on other people. He stands up for democracy and I applaud him on that. I’ve never heard him make a statement that wasn’t articulately and thoughtfully made, even if what he actually says is the complete counter-opposite of my own beliefs. It’s the essence of freedom of speech. I would not vote for him, but I personally believe he would make a far better representative for our country than our current, or former prime minister. That’s why I liked the video.
@blargen454
@blargen454 6 жыл бұрын
Because if you watch crap like Yellow Swellow or even worse, that Darkrai Integral fucking gaming shit then as far as I'm concerned, you're not entitled to be in a position to comment on others. Those people are literally the scrubs of the TCG, no tournament experience and make tier 3.5 decks and sell it like it's the meta. Even some of the top tier decks they've built are horrendous, which shows to me the depth of your knowledge that you allow yourself to be brainwashed by that crap. So you disagree with JRM but you like a video which basically helps promote his message, to anti gay marriages and abortions? That makes sense, I mean I found it on your channel, so effectively what you're doing is spreading that hatred and narrow minded thinking which says it's okay to go back 50+ years politically.
@tlewtree
@tlewtree 6 жыл бұрын
Blargen I’m in a position to comment on whatever I like. It’s free speech. As I said, the videos or channels I like have absolutely no bearing on whether the commentator in this video is knowledgeable or not. Those channels don’t claim to have experience or sell decks as meta decks, they’re purely for entertainment. If you hate them so much don’t watch them. But also don’t go through other people’s channels and belittle people based on the things they watch? It’s really fucking weird and a bit creepy to be honest. Me liking a video doesn’t spread any message at all. I couldn’t care less what your opinion is on it at all. I literally said the reason I like it and him is not his narrow minded thinking, which I agree he has in some senses, it’s the fact that he’s articulate enough to make his point (when asked about it I add- he didn’t bring it up) and establish that he understands the wider view and disagrees with it. I won’t reply again because I feel like there’s very little point in having a discussion with you, so have a nice day. 👍🏼
