@@wgdavis5353 @Charles Burris Yep. I was going to say the same things really. IF you like Michael McDonald (or the rap version Regulators by Warren G and Nate Dogg) your going to love him the more you dig, but probably should start with the Doobie Brothers, the group he come out of (and they are all still around I believe).

I saw him before the pandemic. Went just because it was local and in a relatively small venue and because, well, hes Michael McDonald. He was outstanding-voice incredibly strong, and he sang with great passion and energy. His rendition of Takin It To The Streets, and indirect accompanying comments, reflected he wasnt just there to sing, but also deliver a message to the people. Great show.

They can be in a cabaret or broadway. But their voices won't make you feel uplifted or make your skin tingle. All that is coming out now is hight trash Billie Ellisih? come on, trash. @WineSippingCowboy2 жыл бұрын
Michael McDonald permitted Warren G, RIP, to sample this. Listen to Regulate. 1st solo hit! 😎 Produced by Ted Templeman and Larry Waronker. Ted Templeman is best known as the producer for The Doobie Brothers, Montrose and Van Halen. Larry Waronker is best known as the producer for Gordon Lightfoot. Michael McDonald sang a lot in the 1970s and in the 1980s. Michael McDonald joined The Doobie Brothers in 1975. He wrote What a Fool Believes with Kenny Loggins. The song won a Grammy. In 1980, Michael McDonald sang backing vocal in the Christopher Cross song Run Like the Wind. In 1982, I Keep Forgetting was a big hit. Greg Phillinganes also played with Lionel Richie. In 1983 he wrote Yah Mo Be There with the late James Ingram and Quincy Jones. In 1984, MM finished the lyrics to I'll Wait. Official credits: I'll Wait written by Van Halen + Michael Macdonald. In 1986, MM sang On My Own with Patti Labelle, and MM sang backing vocal in I'll Be Over You with Toto. Steve Lukather played guitar here. In addition to MM, Steve Lukather played guitar in the studio for his band Toto, Chicago and Michael Jackson (Thriller). Steve Lukather, being in his band Toto, worked like a dog in 1982! LOL Suggested next video: Michael McDonald and Patti Labelle sing On My Own. RIP Jeff Porcaro, drummer for I Keep Forgetting.

Emotionally subconscious selective mental denial! Facing a love that no longer there is a painful thing. This song is packed with great musicians along with McDonald (keyboards). Toto's Steve Lukather (guitars), Jeff Porcaro (drums) and Greg Phillinganes (keys); Louis Johnson (bass) and McDonald's sister Maureen on backing vocal. This started Michael McDonald's relationship with Toto, as he has sung backing vocals of several of their albums. SMOOTH GROOVE . . . GREAT REACTION!

Check out Dukes of September. He had a long past with with Fagan and Becker. This song was released in 1982. There is no chance a hip hop song, of which there a handful between 1979 and 1981 which were primarily the same artists could have written the melody to this song. MacDonald and Sanford wrote this song including the melody. One very close to this was written tears earlier by Lyricist Jerome Leiber (April 25, 1933 - August 22, 2011)[1] and composer Michael Stoller[2] (born March 13, 1933)[3] were American songwriting and record producing partners. No hip hop guys wrote anything to do with this song. Impossible. Some may have copycat the melody years later but that is about it. Next thing you know hip hop artists are going to be explaining Steely Dan's "Mou-Chord".
