Did a good job but the mask will develop cracks due to not being painted with latex paints and all the paint you applied will eventually flake off.

I did a lot of masks rehauls and they can crack Even with liquid latex. If you want to wear them eventually they flake off.

Latex paint doesn't crack. It may peel if its toyed with too much and after years of abuse. Latex is expandable therefore it does not crack. Maybe depending on the sealer used. From my experience, I don't use acrylics unless mixing with latex paints for small detailing or doing a wash, even then i still use the latex paints more(specifically the Night Shades brand made for TOTS masks)

So elated u made this tutorial. I started a rehaul on my 18 mask upon watching other tutorials. Half day later n I was at the end of my rope with it. The mask was unrecognizable at looked like crap. He's just displaying it so he wont be stretching the mask and therefore acrylic should hold up. If you are going to wear the mask and fiddle around with it then use latex too.

It's just paint remover. In UK might be known as varnish remover or similar.

I’ll be ordering my 2018 mask next week off of eBay, hopefully I can find someone to rehaul it for me in my area, but idk where to look for this sort of thing, tbh, I don’t trust sending my mask out to random people, it’s risky, plus the waiting period to get it back to you after it’s done, could be weeks.. from what I’m seeing here, it does take a lot of time and patience to rehaul.

That was nice, will looks better if put some yellow. But I thought we need to mix acrylic paint with liquid latex so that the paint won't come out and also do we need to strip the old paint of the mask?

KONO DIO DA it’s optional to use the latex. If you do many coats with the white the paint usually holds but if you do mix in latex it does help the paint stick and no you don’t worry about the old paint because it’s Almost impossible to get off and after 6-8 coats it covers really well. If you use latex in your paint you do about 15% latex in your paint. So with a small cup like I used in the vid, it’s about a couple tbl spoons. Latex helps the mask from wearing overtime and I didn’t go with it in this vid cause I assumed not everyone would have it laying around easily but I may do another later on using latex in the paint. My main problem with this shade wash techinque is that when you remove the wash, I always end remove the bottom paint/coating etc. It is very frustrating...

Yes you need to use a latex paint at the end or during the rehaul to seal it. Otherwise it will crack and flake off in time

Honestly it depends on what you do with the mask. BAsically, if you plan on wearing it (taking it on/off) use latex mixed with the acrylics because it will stretch with the mask. If you only plan on displaying the mask, and not pulling/stretching it, you could get away with just acrylic. And that's only really needed for the large base coats. When you go to weather it and for detail work, you can just use watered down acrylics because the areas shouldn't be thick enough to crack from stretching.

if you are using just watered down acrylic for that step, use a wet piece of bedsheet and it will achieve the same effect instead of thinner, but it cant be mixed with latex
