Do you lie awake at night thinking 'oh my god, I wish I'd not said that' about someone? No. That's what I love about Ian Hislop.

He did not want Bruce Forsyth on the show in 2003 and was rather sarcastic and did not join in the fun of having the best guest presenter ever. Bruce pulled out all the stops and was hilarious and brilliant. Ian thought it was beneath him and showed his snobbishness. Paul Merton absolutely loved it, was laughing, and just let Bruce take over. Play your Iraqi Cards Right was hilarious. It was one of the funniest shows ever. I often watch it. However, Ian is quite superb and very witty.

The comments under the Parkinson interview with Merton are closed so I will say it here: Both men came to the logical conclusion back in 2003 that Johnson was totally off his trolley. Subsequent events only confirmed the veracity of those opinions. However, the great British public in their wisdom (aided by a laughable electoral system) chose him to lead them. What does this tell us?

@alipanroosendaal95033 жыл бұрын
@@TyrSkyFatherOfTheGods That could be a part of it, although it was that show that inadvertently shot him to prominence. They were, I believe, presuming that he would be eaten up, spat out, and exposed. They assumed the general populace would have disdain for this wretched self-serving dim public school chancer. It turned out they saw in Johnson the simpleton in themselves and their fear of intellect, intelligence, and the hard complicated realities of politics, and life in general. A generation brought up on advertising slogans, football chants, and news soundbites, ran to his putrid pied piper call.

@JuliusDS92 Having seen so many episodes of HIGNFY and hearing what Hislop has had to say about the great and the good it seems obvious, to me anyway. He comes across as a protector of the 'ordinary working man' but of course at the same time portraying himself to be aloof and upper middle class; whereas PM seems a genuinely nicer guy despite his deadpan humour (notice he is seldom rude to any of the guests). Sorry I can't be any more specific

Sashaboo72 Yes - he comes across as an arrogant man who is so proud of his education and the school which he admits was like a refuge . Maybe the news of his father’s death contributed towards his angry , distant manner . He should have been given the news at home. Sadly, he’s appearing snobbish and self important here.

Norman Meharry Well, I understand what your saying, but this was on a game show. He wasn’t working in that role. Personally I feel he showed himself as an arrogant, rude, vicious little a**hole. Yes, absolutely right. To be quite honest I still think war was the right option, earlier I meant to say that I think there have been mistakes in the conduct of the war. Saddam's was a criminal regime, and what is more, he had used WMDs in the past when he gassed entire Kurdish villages, killing upwards of 100000 Kurds. Anyone who thinks it was a mistake to remove him doesn't understand the nature of his rule.
