Michael's Fulbright Experience in Bulgaria | Interview from the Inaugural Fulbright Noir Seminar

Michael Sowell was a 2018-2019 US Fulbright grantee to Bulgaria. In this video, he explains why he applied for a Fulbright grant and why he chose Bulgaria. In addition, he talks about the most memorable moment of his program. Then, he explains his experience as a Black grantee on the Fulbright grant and how important it is to discuss questions of diversity within the Program. Finally, he discusses how his life changed as a result of his participation in the program.
This interview was recorded during the Inaugural Fulbright Noir Seminar. From 16 to 18 May 2019, the Fulbright Commission in Brussels facilitated the participation of 21 alumni and current Fulbrighters -- currently based all over the European Union and surrounding region, including Norway, North Macedonia and Kosovo -- in the platform's first-ever meeting!
