This is a very inspiring story for those who experience ADEM. Hope my 8-year old daughter can also recover from this harrowing disease. It's very unfortunate to her to experience such a rare disease at very young age. Hope people who suffer from this debilitating disease can be cured given the new medical technology nowadays available but divine intervention, prayers I know can change or even reverse the disease. Just always stay POSITIVE

Hello Arianna. I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with ADEM. That's very difficult. My husband was 47 when he got sick and the doctors considered him relatively "young" and thus they predicted a good recovery. I am very hopeful the same will apply for you! Good luck to you and your family.

My older brother had a very serious bout with ADEM. In the middle of the original crisis he had a stroke. He was in a coma for 5 months. He had to relearn everything. 19 years later he can barely speak or walk. He is completely disabled. He will be 77 in August.

Hi, Thank you for sharing this. My brother had ADEM 7 months ago. His first symptom is urinary retention, then confusion. he was hospitalized then he developed paraplegia. He was incubated for a week. after 2 weeks in ICU, he went to rehab for 1 month. He is currently walking and running with no issues. His residual is urinary retention. Did Michael have urinary retention? If so, did he improve and how long? Thank you!

My mom had adem. 3 months to get the diagnosis right. 8 years later she has horrible horrible memory. Awful eye sight and can barley walk on her own. There's no way in hell she could drive again. It stole my mom from me. She was a Penn state university graduate for master gardener. She was also a corrections officer in a high security prison. So smart strong and independent. Makes me jealous to see that people do make full recovery. She sure as he'll didnt.

How many months to have full recovered?
@sandralevineprod

I would liken the recovery to that of someone who has had a severe stroke. While every person's recovery is different, sadly often recovery takes years, and often there are lingering issues.

@sandralevineprod
@sandralevineprod 4 жыл бұрын
@@mazzcb2784 He became paralyzed overnight on the left side the day ADEM came on. The left arm was the first thing to go numb and the last to come back. His coordination in that arm is still not perfect, but is much, much better. Physical exercise helps speed recovery for some. Again, every case is different.
