It is really good to revisit this in 2022 and see how much things have changed. There are now much more libraries in the Elixir ecosystem, some of the problems still exist, but Elixir has grown very fast and gained a lot of market, the community already fixed many of the issues described here.

We always hear about the good parts of Elixir, which are many and not widely known, but I liked this talk because it goes through a few challenges many new Elixir projects will face, which are generally discussed even less in the community.

Really great talk, agree with pretty much everything you said (especially the downsides for someone who is just building a new product). Good job dealing with the guy at the end who sounded very set in his ways and just brought up things you already addressed ;)

mate, the first couple of "issues" no JWT, no Admin Backends, these are thing you have to do yourself or wait for the community to catch up, you can't fault an entire language for not giving you the bells and whistles you are looking for. Compromise and develop those components with languages that offer them.
