It was amazing how good Shumacher was unless you watched him. I never missed a race or qualifying. When he was at Benneton, he would be 1st or 2nd on the grid and his teammates usually in 10th or so. . And then of course Ferrari had won 1 race in 5 years, and Shumacher brought them back. And anyone who thinks he always had a better car, it's actually the reverse.He would out qualify his teammates by 1/2 to almost a second at Benetton

The only time Schumacher had the better car, was in 2004 and maybe by a small margin in 2002. When Schumi had such an advantage, F1 was ultra-boring, because his domination was total and absolute. There was literally no hope for any other driver. The fact that Schumi could deliver 3 wins with the horror that was the 1996 Ferrari, is a testament to his GOAT level.

@@uweclaunitzer7170 The strongest part of the F2002 was that it allowed MSchu to push the tires hard for longer stints than the F2001 and the reliability of the engine was best of the field. Yet Williams 2002 was aerodynamically better and BMW provided the fastest engine. So Williams 2002 was on paper the car to be in for 2002. Williams just didn`t have a driver capable to get the most of that car consistantly to beat MSchus consistancy. Ferrari tried to close the gap to the Williams by stretching the wheelbase on the F2003, but what Ferrari gained aerodynamically by doing this they lost in tire-performance. This made 2003 a very difficult season for MSch. BMW and Mercedes still made faster engines than Ferrari in 2003 and both had better chassis than Ferrari. Ferrari corrected all the mistakes in the F2004.

Started P16, battled for the lead with Hill, who was on fresh wets and in a Williams. Held him up for 4 laps on old/worn slick tyres (in the rain) at Spa, which is a track where it's easy to overtake, got a 10 second penalty for aggressive defence and still won the race 🐐

Following F1 40 years this year and Hill's performance that day at Spa is very, very close to being the worst driving by a so called top driver I have seen so far. He was pathetic. In fact he was pathetic in 1995 period.

Couldn't agree more. I used to get up at 3:00 AM ( I'm in Australia ) to watch. Started back in the 70s. the 80s and 90s were great. I kept watching in the early 2000s simply because Michael was still at Ferrari. But Ecclestone ruined it. I couldn't name a driver these days. We have a race here in Melbourne, and you couldn't pay me to watch it.

What a video. Interested in how MS got from his 16th to the lead, first half of the video you see Schumi's camera pointing at the tarmac, then no display of MS passing Weber after his mistake, then Hill passing MS and then cut and MS is in the final lead. And commentators - French. I mean this is a beautiful example of not showing anything. I love the video!

The duel between Schumacher and Hill, at the beginning of the 23rd lap on start finish, until the les combes on lap 24, was in no way, so dangerous, recklessly or intentionally brought about by Schumacher to push Hill off the track. Hill's whining is embarrassing, and the FIA's penalty against Schumacher is absolute nonsense. "Damon Hill clearly thought that Schumacher had gone too far and so too did a lot of others in the F1 paddock - notably the stewards, who called him in after the race and gave him a suspended one-race ban, for the next four Grands Prix." Absolutely laughable.

Schumacher got a one race suspended ban for his driving on lap 23. A little harsh I thought but it was the closest thing to censure for anything that season. This was his finest season by far and this was his finest race although Europe came close.

Dont forget Schmuacher had 2 choises. Ferrari or Mclaren. If team Schumacher would went to Mclraren then there would be a difrent story with titles. Building up Ferrari is hard. 2 bad what happened to Senna. 94 could have been one of the most epic championchip.
