Mahome's contract was restructured like 12 times and he will be hitting their cap probably after he retires in order to pay up the $$. It wasn't a fully guaranteed deal either. They lost Tyreek Hill due to his obscene contract. So no they did lose people. It just wasn't felt immediately. Lastly as a Ravens fan Lamar is not Pat Mahomes. He throws a dirty ball, but has a great football IQ. He may not be the best QB, but he is certainly franchise worthy. He isn't worth a fully guaranteed deal. I don't forsee a team paying him as such either. His amazing O-line and the teams great defense in 2019 has a lot to do with him winning the MVP. You need to understand this is a team sport; even if you are Lamar Jackson you need an O-line and solid defensive players. Baltimore has an excellent backup in Huntley if a deal isn't reached and who knows maybe that clears enough space for a solid WR.... (Highly doubt it though)

NFL contracts can be structured where a guy can get his market value yet still give the team flexibility to sign other guys. It's all the ownership to be willing sign a big check and put whatever remaining guaranteed money on the deal in an escrow. Also, there are thing like rolling guarantees that can free up cap space to sign others. It can get done.

Watson is 230 guaranteed not 250. Although it’s the most guaranteed, there are 3 QBs now that make more per year - Rodgers, Wilson and Murray. Their teams are 4-8, 3-8 and 4-8 and none of them will be smelling the playoff anytime soon. Vick wasn’t wrong when he said be careful with those big QB contracts because it makes it a lot harder to sign others. I think the Ravens can make it work because they have vets who’ve seen Lamar come up and will restructure for him but don’t expect that enthusiasm with every team.

Unpopular opinion, but these situations show if a player is more about winning a championship or more about making money. Not saying Lamar doesn't deserve what he demands but if you really want to win sometimes you need to be humble and not go for max money even you think you earned it. Even the Raven's low offer (about 170mil guaranteed and potential for up to 290mil) is still a crazy amount of money for any single human being to have, if you then still think you don't have enough money you're spoiled af.
