This solo could’ve easily blended into Chicago’s “just say you love me for the rest of your life “ from their hit Will You Still Love Me. Glad Michael W Smith was transparent on his music influences. 🙌🏼

I just realized I had bought that exact pickguard. I had found a strat style body and neck, pretty big just like the one in this, and I ordered that pickguard, it was a black guitar just like this. But I tried to wire it myself and didn’t solder the connections properly. I really need to go back and do it right.

good to see people still using rack gear. huge rack user myself. still can't figure out how to get that shimmer clean tone out of my pcm81. i have 2 spx90's coming and still waiting on a delay. any info or pointers will be much appreciated. also got my TERC added a few months ago. unfortunately, it does not work well with a W/D/W setup. kinda forced to stick with stereo. again, you got an amazing tone/skills. thanks
@KristianLarsenGuitar7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean shimmer as in the effect or as in the tone? If you want a really "sparkly" clean sound you have to focus on getting your dry tone as close as possible. Then you add the effects.
@arthurnam76197 жыл бұрын
sorry, i meant as in effect. all i know is i need pitch shifting and delay. i still need to read the manual on my pcm 81. i have to say, the tc electronics g major is a million times easier to edit.
@KristianLarsenGuitar7 жыл бұрын
The pcm 81 can definitely do the shimmer effect. Yeah the g major is super easy to program, but it's not even nearly as good as the pcm 81 :)

Great energy in this solo. I hadn't heard an MWS song in 15 or more years, thanks for the memory.I know Lincoln Brewster played with him live not sure if he recorded with him tho'. I noticed in your older vids you had a Mesa Studio Preamp? What was missing compared to the quad, tone-wise, if anything? Peace.
@KristianLarsenGuitar6 жыл бұрын
Glad you re-discovered this music! I have never owned a Studio Preamp, but a lot of people used them for their clean tone back in the day! The Quad is generally regarded as the "superior" preamp between the two.
@rbs77776 жыл бұрын
Gotcha, I mistakenly saw part of the Quad. Anyway, really digging your Quad tone. Looking forward to more cool vids. Best.
@rbs77776 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to get a quasi-Marshall tone with the Quad?
@KristianLarsenGuitar6 жыл бұрын
You can definitely get pretty close with channel 2. But the 3+SE is much better voiced for those kind of tones.

I found a version of it here on youtube without Dann's guitar tracks. I didn't save it unfortunately. I think KZbin removed it because of copyright reasons. This video has been demonitized by KZbin too.
