Oliver Swinburne not quite. You are correct in that the type of glass he was given was a champagne flute, however champagne can be drunk from other types of glass, including a ‘saucer’ ( think of all those old films where they quaff from wide, flatter glasses). So, Michael is correct in asking for a glass of champagne - you don’t need to specify the shape of the glass it comes in, unless you are really pedantic - and in polite company that would never do!
