You make so many great points! Jesus said that His sheep will know His voice. We know His voice through fellowship with Him through intimacy with Him. So many times we lack the intimacy that is necessary to know when He is speaking to us.

Amen Amanda! I heard the same things as well. I hear God a lot in dreams, open vision, audibly, and I can also sense His presence tangibly. I spend quite a bit of time talking to God about everything! He's my best friend and He has met all of my emotional needs ( I feel heard, known, and seen by Him). I no longer look to others to fill up any voids in my heart. One of the things that I love about His voice is that when I feel scared, I can hear Him singing to me one of my childhood songs to reassure me that all is well. He is also very funny too:)

The part about how to discern God's voice was so insightful, I recently had an experience where what I did felt right and was an act of showing love but man did it hurt my flesh, ego and pride. Now I know that in the process I didn't lose much if it strengthened my spirit

I audibly heard god tell me "it is not your time".....weeks later my 10 yr old daughter suddenly traumatically passed away. Since then I have begun to build a personal relationship with God. Nothing can compare to an experience like that. I know my work here isn't done but I'm surrendering to God's plan for me. -Amanda from Windsor

God showed me that I was praying just pray not to seek Him. I was impatient during prayer and ready to to let the minutes pass while I just talked. But one say I felt a knowing within to just be quiet and be still. I kept on talking that time 😭 but surely when I just allow myself to sit in silence and think is when revelations come. So I must posture my heart to be patient in prayer and pray to also hear what He has to say

1. Read & Study God's word on a regular basis...this helps you familiarize yourself with God’s character....it also helps establish a plumb line of absolute truth.

3.Practice listening- by creating a habit of asking God questions & sitting waiting for an answer. Listen for still small voice so create space for quiet & stillness....this must be cultivated...do not have preconceived idea of what u want Him to say. Pay attention to where your mind & body go...He may bring a scripture or song or image or person to your Spiritual ears & mind...be in a restful place knowing that God wants to communicate more with you than u do with him...Take note don't jugdge & investigate the way He talks to you....get in a habit of trusting & believing in faith of how God talks to you

4. Discern God’s character....notice the voices coming in & weigh them by God’s character. Listening to God is not meditation, but it is similar to it. Meditation involves emptying your mind, while listening to God involves an expectation to be filled. But the silence that follows your question is what you embrace as you eagerly expect a response. Contemplative prayer is a lot more meditative. This is not where you practice listening to God, but rather, where you practice being with God.
