In all honesty I thought this concept was stupid and did not feel this video was beneficial in any way. Later I was reviewing and quizzing myself and I was proven wrong. Instantly my mind traveled to your silly house hold objects and I was able to connect the dots. So I am reviewing your video again and want to thank you for your contribution to my studies!

carly marre that's so true. I just quickly changed another video just after i watched 2 stages cuz think it is so silly with these items. But.. when i was watching other video, the mind just went back like wha is stage 1. Suddengly rememnered 1 is bun. Rust colour. Trust vs mistrust. Lol. Then i realized it is indeed helpful n i ended up coming back here n i m taking his tips. 😂😂

It takes more work, but I think it's better to come up with your own mnemonics. I think it sticks in your head far more when you create them than when you just take them from someone else. For example, for stage 4 (Industry vs Inferiority), I drew a picture of an Inn with a dusty tree (Inn Dust Tree). For stage 8 (Integrity vs despair), I drew a picture of a tag with an N on it on a box of grits (N Tag Grit) and a spare tire with red D's (D Spare). Because I drew out the pictures, I can more easily remember their order. Of course, this doesn't do a bit of good if you haven't learned the concepts of each stage. It merely helps to remember their names and order.
@MichaelBritt_ThePsychFiles8 жыл бұрын
+Vicki Smith I totally agree - it's best to make up your own mnemonic images. But because it is a lot of work I thought I would create these mnemonics to show how the process works. I like the Inn Dust Tree. Excellent.

I had been looking through KZbin hoping to find memorable vids to help me learn child development theorists for forthcoming exams - and believe me, that's not easy when you're 54, new to the subject and your memory isn't what it used to be. To be honest, I thought what I saw here was a little bit crazy. All right, more than a little bit crazy... However, I stuck with it - and at the end, I found myself thinking "One is a bun..." and started unpacking the rust, the trust, and the mistrust! I could do the same with almost all the stages (except 'inferiority' - I might go with fear, 'cos a T-Rex is a scary dinosaur after all!) A surprisingly good memory trick. Thanks!
