I don’t know anything about playing guitar but I’m just mesmerized by this young man’s skills on the guitar..wow!

He's like Beck was with tonality. "Where were you?" was simply alien in terms of judgement and trem technique. I think this Matteo Mancuso is just this good. It's us that need to adjust not him. Luv and Peace.

I think you nailed it. Obviously the chops are incredible, but the timing and groove are always there. I love what he does.

I appreciate the tastefulness of his playing

I still remember a song back in 1973 called "Spectrum" by Mahavisnu Orchestra (John Mclaughlin, Billy Cobham etc.,) that gave me a fresh technical touch as a guitar player after the various Jimy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Deep Purple etc., ...well this "Drop-D" falls in the very same category. Bravo ragazzo ....this Matteo 🙂

So I’ve seen a few artists that have blown me away but I remember for the first time seeing Shawn Lane play and I thought the guy was an alien. I think I’ve just witnessed my 2nd alien sighting.

A lot of his riffs and runs involve alternate strings which is really hard or not possible with a pick. In fact his money riffs often involve that kind of a fingerpick which gives him his unique sound. Fantastic.

Funny you mention Eric Johnson. If you listen to that Beato interview sounds like his two big influences are Eric and EVH.

no man. he is just not able to make even small mistakes. they would be perfect also as mistakes.
@LuvHrtZ10 ай бұрын
I know what you mean by 'there are not enough mistakes'. Whilst he's a great technician, he doesn't step out and take any major risks.
@michaelgoyettemusic10 ай бұрын
Exactly…A high wire act is more exciting if there’s a little staggering involved….. he could use the occasional Slash lick or something!! I haven’t heard enough to pass judgement in this case yet. He’s damn good otherwise. ✌️

And Yo your negative was also positive 😂🤣😂 I agree… a little dirt, I could say further maybe a some alcohol problems for a couple years just a little bit, or a bad break up, or several break ups…. trauma of some type ….. 100% not saying I wish any of these on this guy, but things in life we suffer/experience they add character to our outlook and expression…. Then if you are as talented as this guy obviously is 🤷🏻♂️ !!! The combination can make the audience empathetic and in awe… nothing beats that!

As a guitarist I'm riveted at just the music. Video is not required. He sounds like came from the 70s Fusion era. One of my favourite times for music. Luv and Peace.

You say you didn't think some of the runs could not be played without a pick. You haven't yet heard the runs that are about impossible with a pick, and could only be played fingerstyle.

What the hell is this guy talking about. I'd like some of what he smoked before making this video. Go listen to Punk Rock if that's what floats your boat. MM is a once in a generation player and has moved the needle significantly in the mastery of the instrument. Just ask Al Dimeola and Steve Vai about their opinions of Matteo Mancuso. I don't think either of them would have anything to say about having Matteo's playing include more mistakes or having his playing include a little more dirt. There is something out there for everyone - but I don't need to hear the opinions of a supposed Pro Guitarist who has problems with Matteo's musicianship and groundbreaking technique.

@@AJ-Bruno Just watched this again after seeing your comment. This guy is really out to lunch. He mentions the word "fingerstyle" several times. Wrong terminology dude..! Fingerstyle is more like Leo Kottke or someone with that style and skillset.

I do not understand what you mean by micro-mistakes of a fraction of a second…
@michaelgoyettemusic9 ай бұрын
Most humans aren’t perfect….too much perfection can become boring….example of a great player who has micro mistakes is Jimmy Page or Jimmi Hendrix or Slash…… in other songs I’ve heard since he does hit a balance I was more pleased with…..this was amazing too. No doubt.

Thanks for sharing your feeling regarding such micro-mistakes. My best regards
