my warptorio run is with the mod that makes u permanently a spidertron, & achieves the "permanently" part with a setting that makes u rapidly die if u exit the spidertron. it also very cutely changes your character icon on the equip screen to a fish, so i comissioned someone to make a mod that changes your character model to a fish too. so im a fish fixing a malfunctioning warp-factory, with its pet steel spider robot that i sometimes get out of & use a remote to send off to flatten a biter base and call it back to me before my personal shield fails factorio mods are great

With the knowledge that "the displayed amount of resources in a patch includes productivity bonuses from research", the small margins for copper left in that patch made watching this _way_ more tense than it had any right to be! Warptorio. Definitely Warptorio. It has high pressure mechanics, we all know you are going to completely kill it but it poses slightly different challenges. Confined space, time pressure and there is always a risk of missing the warp leaving you completely stranded in the middle of biter bases that ate that pollution from warp platform.

I cannot believe this. All this planning and sticking to the schedule but it actually happened! Michale made the FINAL actually be the final (discounting post game challenge). Congratulations mate. It feels weirdly anticlimactic seeing as a big part of the challenge was avoiding all biter confrontations but we saw how much effort it really was.

hey Michael, would you consider uploading in 1440p? you dont have to record in 1440p, just export the footage at that resolution, youtube is butchering 1080p and that extra bitrate of 1440p helps

It's partly my fault, I experienced a lot of lag spikes while recording lossless, so I recorded parts as a stream instead, which doesn't lend itself well to editing. I intend to get a better setup this year

I feel like things are just going to transition towards "regular playthrough" now, with the possibilities of nuclear/solar powered laser turrets. Apart from the difficult part where you need access to the new copper mine that is... But after a spidertron and some lasers in fusion powered power armor, behemoths are kindof a joke... Anyway, amazing playthough! Never thought it would be that possible to get below 16h for the achievement. I guess I play too slow even on normal difficulty! :D

However, my friend, I think you made a huge mistake, by not putting productivities into the labs. Especially since productivities in labs do not increase pollution!

What a fun and interesting little ride! Of course, the biggest challenge really of any type of max biters deathworld setting is always the beginning. But I thought it was really ingenious how you helped yourself out by exploring so much of the map and adding those pipes. And even after that segment, it was interesting and engaging enough to watch the rest. See if your calculations were right on the money or if it would be a scramble to try and claim more Copper. Congrats on making it under the 15 hours mark. You'll be missing only the No spoon one, which is not a lot considering what a start this was. I'd be curious if the speed running legends would be able to handle that start and still manage no No spoon... As for me, even without a deathworld setting, or behemoth biters ready to nab my ankles from the get go. I barely managed to cobble together enough strats and discipline to get that last achievement so I don't even see myself managing it! Ah! For me, that 20 mil green circuits was an interesting one. I created mini factories that surrounded my assemblers with as many beacons as I could. And I just continually manually fed them mats, while extracting and just exploding chests after chests full of the stuff. Because I didn't know what to do with that many green circuits and I just wanted to finish wrapping up the last of them. Ahaha. What an experience. I love Factorio, either Rampant or Warp, and you Michael, and I'm sure it'll be a great time~

Thanks. 20 mil is an odd one yes, as it's not a production/time goal but just raw total production. I plan to just claim whatever resources I can and keep adding green chip builds into chests until adding more doesn't seem worth the effort anymore (hopefully I'll get 10-20 red belts worth of greens output)

I wonder. For the most part of this play trough you avoided all biter confrontations, but what if you were to prepare by maybe building fire turrets and embracing those confrontations. This would look completely different, but would that be any faster? But i guess id would be very hard to even get to a state where you would comfortably defend against those biters.

IDK, for this playthrough it's probably easier to "defend your pollution cloud" once you can, (clear polluted area from biter bases), than to set up a reliable defense for biter attacks.

So with copper so tight, did you consider putting 1 prod mod and 2 efficiency mods in the miners to get a bit more copper out of the copper? Been wondering about this for a few episodes actually...

I didn't do much math to see how much more copper you'd gain (though I imagine it would be ~4% more, so about 4000 if you had put them in at the end of the cooper coup conundrum video), which doesn't sound like all that much, and the extra pollution it created could have easily made the biter situation even worse, so yeah, it does make sense. Well, anyway, thanks for the explanation! Looking forward to seeing how things continue from here!

"Pollution" from electric assembling machines is one of the things I never liked about this game. Electric operation is exactly how you *don't* generate pollution. And no, noise does not travel in a cloud and drift around until it gets absorbed by a tree or a biter. (dust and noise being the explanation I've seen given for why these various machines are "polluting".)

It hurts to look at that lab-setup after you've calculated everything else to perfection. Direct inserting between labs activates the science pack enough so that it's used for a couple %, but when it gets taken out by an inserter, the lab resets it's research-bar

This is actually not true. Labs don't lose progress ever, since even partial progress is added to the total research.
