Mumbai...old capital...I think it's just too different from other cities in India, people are also more calm and intelligent in Mumbai. Today it's even less noisy and dusty in my opinion.

Translation: 0:10 Bombay, 9.30am. The suburban railways bring 10thousands of office workers to the city 0:30 This is the classic north-indian womans clothing, the Punjabi Dress. But most indian woman wear the Sari (?). Only few dress european. 0:55 Here they bring a deceased to the cremation area. 1:00 A marriage group, Indian christians. 1:12 Luxury flats, Hotels, office palaces and colonial indian-gothic the Main Station. 1:44 (Female Narrator) I found myself in the bustle and hustle of old bombay. It smells like spices, rancid coconut oil and jasmin. 2:12 Here the dyers dry their cloth on the street. 2:45 A merchant must know many languages here. Ovens are marketed in english, hindi, Gujarati (spelling?) and urdu here. Bikes from India, sewing machines from Germany, still running after 40 years. Today indian builds its own sewing machines, its textile industry, over a 100yrs old, serves 100s of millions. 3:20 From beautiful sarees from cotton like these, to Silk. The prices? Some Cost 10 Mark other 1000s of Marks. 3:30 Father Godbole, Prof. at a college, spends the evening above his scientific studies. The Fan makes the tropical humidity a bit milder. 3:55 The whole family is together now. The 4 children are 1.5, 5,12 and 13 yrs old. Everyone is busy with something and I'm wondering how concentrated they are at it. 4:19 Nena, the eldest, is already liking to help in the household. 3 Daughters, alos because of them the family has to live modest. All of the kids ought to get an education and the daughters a proper wedding gift later in life. You're Welcome

Such documentation is a treasure trove to generations, only if the present ones were anxious to know how their ancestors were living, the conditions and their living adjustments. People leaving in the area this film was shot and who were born in fifties, sixties or even seventies would LOVE TO see their loved ones in motion, rather than photographs hung on the wall...🙏💐
