The best guitarist of that time, Eddie said " I didn't ask Michael Jackson for anything". This is how one artist used to help each other to reach to the top on their career. Money is not everything. Eddie also added " His album was in no 1, our album was in no.2 . His single was in no. 2 , our single was in number 1" Although they were on competition but they didn't have any ego and still Eddie showed up on Michael's stage. Both of them are in Heaven now. @TheRealCritique It was agreed upon in advance that there would be no money involved. Eddie was under a contract with the other guys in "Van Halen" that they would not go out on their own and play with other bands for any type of monetary gain. This was a great thing for both Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen. Eddie has a solo on a song that was part of an album that sold more copies than any other album in human history... Michael Jackson managed to get Eddie Van Halen to do a lead guitar solo on his album "Thriller". It was a good deal for both of them.

Fun fact. If you have read Michael Jackson's book "Moonwalk". He says that real gang members are in the video and they had no costumes, that were the real clothes of the members. They even had huge security in case something would happen. You can see the members behind when Michael starts to dance with his dancers. He said he was surprised how actually the members were very nice to them and he even gave them autographs, did photos with them and gave them tickets to one of his shows. Just proofs even more, what kind of a wonderful person Michael was.

I met my husband just as Michael's "Off the Wall" album dropped. The discos would play most of the songs in that album. We were married when "Thriller" came out. We both said that this album was something amazing that could never happen again. We were happy for MJ when this album broke many records that are not likely to be broken by any other artist. When a musical album sells over 100,000,000 copies, and virtually every song is a big hit, the world pays attention! What an entertainer he was!!! He may have gone on to the Afterlife, but his music never will fade away. What happened to him after the Thriller album, the slow death of a person addicted to drugs, was horrible. I wonder if he'd never done the Pepsi commercial, where his hair and scalp caught fire, would his career have only gotten better. He did NOT want to do the ad, but his brothers pressured him into doing it. The painkillers ruined his life. Yes, he could have said NO to the commercial, but sibling pressure was overwhelming to the very sensitive Michael, and he gave in. His doctors should have taken him off the drugs early on, but this was Michael Jackson! He also suffered from vitiligo and discoid lupus. Lupus can cause chronic pain. Vitiligo can cause psychological and emotional pains. He bleached his skin so that his skin would be one color, and not Black with White spots. Had he been honest about the vitiligo early in his career, people would have understood and bullied him much, much less. Sad, sad, sad life he lived. 😢😢
