@@mrandrews3616 It is called an atlatal (I don’t know if that is how you properly spell it). It was a precursor to the bow because it did launch arrows. The special thing about it was that it used the motion of your arm and the natural lever action your arm makes when you swing down to launch the arrow. It took some practice to get down the aiming of said arrow that was launched from it, but it was pretty much the first use of range weapons ever used. It’s interesting that at 10:46 you mention that weapon they are using, when you pointed it out it actually reminded me of a weapon used during the ice age (funny that it’s on a planet covered in snow) and it would be used to cast a wooden dart well over 100 meters or about 300 feet and with said throwing device it could help gain more leverage and velocity, I’m not exactly sure who used these weapons but I know that the Aztecs did, it also often caused arthritis due to the force needed to use it, I have a buddy who visited California recently and toured some caves that were recently discovered to have housed people (I think) about 50,000 years ago, could be wrong on the year though. Ps: if interested in said device you can search it up on the wiki it’s called a atlati Edit: I stand corrected the correct pronunciation is Atlatl not Atlati

Wow I have never noticed that detail with the snow before that is so cool and such a subtle detail. Bravo animators. In regards to the casualties he says they suffered its likely that some of the troopers who got knocked off their bikes could have survived although injured as snow is very soft and with their armour would have saved them from the worst of it and the Tals kept up pursuit and wouldn't have gone back for anyone that had been knocked off since they seemed to be specifically after the Chairman. So yeah some of those Troopers are likely still alive just waiting for evac.

Kinda wish this episode got its own arc, like the chairman did something to piss the natives so much that it united them to fight the Blue people and the clone troopers. The arc would be the jedi trying to prevent this war by talking to other tribes with little luck while the Republic base starts to spot natives scouting the base, maybe a few hit an run attacks during a blizzard. In the final stage if the arc the natives launch a full assault on the base while other groups tunnel into the base. The arc would end with the jedi an senator capturing the Chieftain to negotiate peace and with the Chief witnessing so many of his people gunned down by clones agrees to peace.

In the Chairman's defense, the Talz did massacre an entire garrison of at least 20-30 people without any provocation, do note that many of the corpses were clustered together and unarmed. Meaning those clones surrendered, were disarmed, corralled into a single room, then killed. Without a map we can't say for sure how far away this facility is, but it must be remote enough that it could be built and garrisoned for some time without ever knowing the Talz were on the planet, so it was benign at worst, yet this irritated the Talz enough to warrant the massacre of its entire garrison without any attempt to communicate. In terms of rules of engagement, a pretty strong case could be made that the Talz were the initiators of the war and became legitimate targets. Second, the chairman would have to explain that not only was this garrison massacred on his watch, but also how he had lost control of the entire planet due to the incident. It's sort of like a moleman comes round and kills your dog and now you have to let him live in your garage because he was there first.
