I haven't disliked it, it's got admirable realism: but it IS process painting i.e, it's all "stippling". There isn't a single brushmark in it, meaning it has more in common with Chinese production line paintings, than it does something an old master would do. Meaning, it's just not interesting up close, as brushmarks are what shows the artist's hand. It's not just uninteresting from that perspective (e.g, the trees are just simple graphic work, they would be SO much more interesting [and difficult to do] with visible gradated brushmarks, like a Corot or a Constable), but there's also no unexpected colour or colour variety. The trees are just green, the sky is just blue. My major's in Art Theory, so I'd be interested in what other critics think. It definitely has way above average skill, but cannot hold a candle to a Corot, Waterhouse, Daubigny, Turner, Corot-or any of the old masters. It also has only two layers, so lacks depth.
@DunkinBiscuits4 жыл бұрын
There are so many styles and there will always be haters if the subject at hand does not match their own especially when the work is getting more attention than their own, jealousy plays a big part in the downvotes unfortunately. Personally this painting blows me away, the realism is incredible, these types of paintings are not about expression through brush strokes like that of a Constable or Monet they are simply about what is right in front of you, if the sky is only blue then it is painted only blue, if it has no texture visually then there is no need to paint vivid brush strokes as you would with expressionism, it is about capturing light and colour as you see it rather than how you feel about it. I love all forms of art and nobody can tell you that one is better than the other because art is a very personal thing, its like someone telling you that you shouldn't like peanut butter. These paintings give a very realistic feeling you are walking through them how anyone can dislike this is beyond me
@CuriousGoose4 жыл бұрын

Not sure if you or even anybody is ever going to read this but whatever... I just stumbled upon this! Gotta say: Great Job! See, I’ve been producing music for like 3 years now and I’m not as good as you are at painting, but I always wanted to be able to paint like that, too. However, at some point I decided to invest my time into improving my music production skills rather than drawing etc. Still, I’d kind of love to be able to paint because I find it equally fascinating. It‘s probably typically human that we always want to possess the skills we don’t have but somebody else does and impresses us with. Even though we have certain skills on our own we work hard on and that are equally as impressive to the „outsider“ or non-expert as the ones we don’t, but would like to, have! Just some of my thoughts, maybe someone actually can relate! As I said, I’m not even sure if anybody will find this comment but rather try than just sitting around.
