I shared this song with my dad before he died almost 5 years ago. He was crying at the lyrics, he was so moved by certain lines. He said it was one of the most beautiful and sorrowful songs he had heard in 30 years. He died within 2 weeks. The last song that touched him. I miss him. (Thank you the responses.) He was having a heart procedure the next day, already had filled out his PoA and will. He called friends crying the night before he died, he never called me or my sisters. I think he knew he was going to die and he couldn't tell us. I wish he would have. I have so many regrets. I'd give the world to hear him again. Feel the safety of having him hug me. Thank you to the 21 people who read about my dad. He really tried.

I had a similar experience with a new friend in college. We met in one of my classes and immediately started talking about everything. He was a budding young filmmaker and had just earned it apprenticeship what's Spike Lee! The last song we talked about was Jeremy by Pearl Jam. A haunting song in its own right, made all the more haunting for me oh, because the next day he was killed by a drunk driver. This song has gripped me and given me such bliss. I've planned my suicide twice, once in 2007 and then again in 2018. I nearly went through with each plan until something would interrupt that attempt, and I found myself losing each day, instead of living. And for the first year in twelve years, I'm in a healthy mental and emotional space. I had to start all over again, and this song reminds me of that day, 28th October 2019, when I decided to make the change. Thank you Michael. These times are tough but they are not forever. All my life I have been taken advantage of and abandoned by people, lovers and friends, no matter how long we have known each other, those claiming me to be toxic and the problem in their lives. I'm a father of 11 year old twin boys, I've struggled with addiction to hard drugs and somehow beat it before I had kids. My recent huge struggle has been with tobacco. I've been smoking since I was like 16. I'm 38 now. I quit cigarettes right before Covid, just a coincidence, but I still crave tobacco when I drink, so I started smoking cigars. Y'know, the 99 cents for a pack of two White Owls. The thing is, I inhale them way more than I should. Ever since this song and video got stuck in my head, I've started having this paranoid idea that I probably have lung cancer. For the past couple months I'd wake up early early in the morning with this song in my head, a pain in my chest and a fear in my heart. A fear that one day I'll suddenly not be here for my boys. If you ever happen to read this, I want you to know that it's this song you wrote, and also this video with it, that led me to put that shit down for good. I haven't smoked for about two weeks now, except for the green. I don't think I'll ever quit that, but that's only a two-toke bedtime thing. So, thank you, man. Thank you for making this. Thank everyone involved. I don't know how one song that got stuck in my head every morning for like 2 months changed my life, but I guess that's just how it works sometimes. Everything has its place and time, and somehow you just happened to put me on my way to the next thing I want to quit. Next stop is the beer. One step at a time, man.

I bullied my little brother alot when we were kids. I'm 25 now and he is 24. The second time I listened to this song, I uncontrollably burst into tears like a kid despite being the 'tough' guy I am. For the first time, I felt genuine compassion for my brother and I started having memories of how I used to mistreat him, which made me so ashamed and guilty. I gave him the first real apology and now everytime I want to evoke a feeling of empathy, I always come back to this song.

@@VojtechRozsival Well, our life is full of little cliches...falling in and out of love, heartbreaks, the loss of a parent...everything is a cliche isn't it? Even though the poets never stop singing about them. I'm just a simple girl, not a connoisseur. I don't have the wisdom or the knowledge to know good music from the sublime one. It's just that some tug at my heartstrings and some don't, even though they may be musically, far more superior. This song speaks to me, as simple as that.
