Once again, I'm headed into prayer meeting with yet another of your renditions on the opening playlist. Thank you, brother, for proffering an alternative to the jangling noise of many modern instrumentals. Blessings from a fellow Greenvillian. 🙏

Just a thought. I noticed the lyrics never mentioned God, Jesus, the cross and resurrection or God's Word the Bible. The only living and anchient WORDS that matter.

I was afraid this might come up. I do not think that there is ambiguity in the text when understood in context of John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God, and God being called the Ancient of Days in the book of Daniel. The song implies that the words of scripture is the faithful word of Christ, who IS the Word. When we heed these words (scripture) we allow God's word to change us and it can change others. The Word of God is powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. It comes from God Himself who is the Ancient of Days. So I have no issue with the term 'ancient words' - perhaps there could be a more clear reference; but I think the poetic implication here is orthodox and biblically correct. Almost every line is based upon Scripture - for a full list of references see this writeup: hymnstudiesblog.wordpress.com/2021/03/05/ancient-words/

@@MichaelLiningMusic Yes I'm very well aware of those scriptures. But, Jesus is the WORD singular even in the Hebrew and Greek, not anchient words plural. I certainly catch the implication of scriptures alluded to in the lyrics and the attempt to capture a new poetic creative perspective. Unfortunately our world and especially the Christian music & entertainment industries need to get BACK to a MORE DIRECT Pauline message of the CROSS and Jesus' blood atonement for sin. The obvious ignoring of preaching Christ crucified for SIN being ABSENT in MOST Pulpits and the music over the past several decades is in LARGE part to BLAME for the decay of our nation and churches.

@@bryanrendleman2001 The words (plural) are Scripture/the Bible, which comes from God - the WORD - singular, and have been preserved and are life-changing. I see no issue here. To your other point, are you saying that a song like this which is full of meaning and based on scripture is still bad because it doesn't say "blood" or "Jesus" or "cross"? There are many other hymns that don't as well. Are you suggesting that this song is a reflection of decades of ignoring of preaching Christ crucified? If so, I would have to respectfully disagree. I think that if folks would open their heart to scriptures as the song says, that their hearts would be changed and we'd see revival in our nation, not decay. And there is much, much music even written recently that is filled with the blood, the cross, the gospel. Take "In Christ Alone", or "Power of the Cross", or "O Praise the Name" or "Jesus Thank You". All of these I've led in worship recently and they are quite powerful. Yes there is riff-raff and shallow songs out there, but I don't believe this is one of them. Blessings!

@@MichaelLiningMusic I watched and heard the Christian music scene change from the 60s untill today. The continued hiding of the message in veiled poetic themes so subtle until the message was no longer distinguishable from secular music. This song is 1 that fits that description. It is poetic, it is a good song. But it isn't a gospel message or biblically distinguishable song. It could be recorded by any modern rap or pop singer and played on the secular sources and no one would here anything of the hidden biblical message themes. You can call it inspirational music but by definition IT IS NOT a HYMN . Perhaps Christian-lite is the category title Dove and Word music out of Waco Texas should have used when they created this genre of music and awards.
