Purchased the M50 Mark II six months ago and new to photography with two mini courses under me. This video has opened my eyes and given me a real understanding of the camera's capabilities. Truthfully, until this video, i was unaware of how little I new about my wonderful camera. I can see the light now, no pun intended. Thank you for your time and for your excellent and clear teaching abilities.

It's a year later and as a PhD student, I've been reviewing this small amounts at à time. (because of my intense class and study schedule). This video, coupled with your actual class that I purchased is outstanding. In my opinion, you literally surpass my college professors with your ability to teach. Your class was well worth the purchase. I'm still here reviewing, and it gets easier to understand. Thank you... thank you.

If you own a Canon M50, this is the best two hours you can spend! I have a good understanding of photography, learning it in the 70's with a "match meter" all manual Olympus OM-1. What your video did for me was to dissect the somewhat complicated/convoluted menu of the M50 so that I could better navigate the controls to achieve the results I desire. Thank you so much for that.

Michael. I gotta say this. I've been watching videos about the Canon M50 because I need to make vlogs for work. I'm at the 2:00 minute mark. If I don't make it past your 'throw the camera at the wall story' your video will have done me a huge service. The experts consistently offer great info. But they forget that these machines can be monstrously confusing and frustrating. Thank you for the empathy.

I just wanted to say 10 months ago I bought a Canon M50 and watched this video. All I had was the kit lens. I've been purchased a couple crop sensor lenses and went to town learning the exposure triangle. Fast forward 10 months and my M50 is gone. Replaced by an 80d for backup and Canon EOS R for my main camera. I'm now shooting on a 24-70 F2 8, 24 to 105 F4, 70-200 F2 .8, 85 1.8 and 35 1.4. I'm doing photography professionally now. I have a studio in my house. I've mastered Lightroom and am intermediate in Photoshop. I can do Basics like layers, masks and I'm now getting into doing composites. I work 8 hours a day and come home and study for 4. And then on the weekends just take hundreds of pictures and edit like crazy. I have a 4 light Studio setup 3 strobes for my house and one strobe to take on the road with me. I've got a series of softboxes and grids. I'm going to confess I got frustrated at times and it's a lot to learn. Well once you learn something nobody can ever take that away from you! I know this was kind of a long comment but I wanted to say thank you Michael for making tutorials like this because in the beginning when I was just learning the settings on my Canon M50 and knew nothing and I mean absolutely nothing about photography videos like this got me started and to where I am today. And I plan on continuing to grow every day for the rest of my photography career!!! Thank you again Michael

Here's the thing: the manual that came with my M50, and with all other cameras I've owned, are virtually useless if you compare them to these videos. Michael, your channel is a superlative resource for learning how to use any of the cameras you've covered. Just today, I came back to this video to refresh my understanding of its tracking autofocus feature. So simple. Merely expand the Show More timestamp menu, pick the topic from the list and start watching. Absolutely top-notch in every respect. Keep up the great work!

Just a note of thanks for the amount of time you put into this Micheal. When people ask me to recommend a specific camera, I always tell them to look at KZbin reviews. And in this case, watching this video sealed the deal for me. I did chuckle a bit, with all the focus being on a beginner camera - it really is beyond beginner, but Canon allows new users to keep things basic while you learn how to use all available features. Most reviewers will tell you Canon menus are logical and intuitive. It's so easy to jump between using my M50 and my 5D. My M50 is a travel camera...especially when I am with a group. Light and smaller, it's a joy to carry around. And the best part, is that Canon made the adaptor to allow usage of EF-s and EF lenses. I put that adaptor on and tested my 70-200 L lens and my 16-35L...and the output is simply excellent. Another lens to recommend is the 40mm F pancake - ultra thin and yet as crisp as the nifty 50 , 50/1.8. Now, if only the adaptor provided an added control ring to use as an aperture control (like Canon did with the R5/R6 adaptor).

WOW! You can be very proud of yourself Michael, your video is so well done. I've purchased the M50 Canon as a Xmas gift for my wife, your excellent video will be a must watch for her. Your video will keep me out of the dog house... if it was up to me to explain, that''s where I'd be. Your video is going to be a valuable knowledge base for her in broadening her photography skill. She's very KEEN and I'm waiting in anticipation to see the results of her work. A big thank you to you for your most informative and professional video and thanks to Canon for the M50. Job well done all round. From Australia...

Really! a great job of explaining both camera concepts and the M50 specifically. I knew you were a pro when you pointed out that ISO was not part of exposure. Probably 90 plus percent of the lecturers on you tube put it in the "Exposure Triangle" where it doesn't belong. Also thanks for saying Iso instead of I-S-O. When I listen to people explain elements of photography and constantly call it I-S-O instead of one word "Iso", I immediately tune out everything else they are telling me. Also along the same line, you correctly noted that you are not changing the sensitivity of the sensor but rather noting that you are amplifying the signal the sensor provides. You obviously know your stuff. I encourage anyone who wants to learn photography to listen to your posts and take your courses if you offer any, Good job.

My wife camera lens had the exact same issue after she engaged the mechanism with the lens cover on. Thanks to your video, I was able to take the lens apart, remove the piece of broken plastic, and put everything back together. The lens is now working again and was saved from ending in the trash! If this happens again, you can find a plastic ring replacement on eBay for $7.

thank you very much from Italy, I was demotivating because it seemed too complicated and I thought I was wrong to buy a mirroless. instead now I'm really excited. I want to try to take pictures as soon as possible

Great Video. Just bought the M50 and this was just what I needed. No gimmicks and a clear understanding of the camera. Really enjoyed it, so much so I've bought the crash course. Cheers Michael.👍

Purchased the M50 about 3 mos ago. I know very little about photography or the M50. I continue watching this video, and invested in your downloadable class for the M50 for $49. Wow...so much great instruction worth every penny!!! Thank you.

Awesome tutorial. I was more than a bit overwhelmed when I got my camera having no former experience with anything other than a point and shoot. I had to stop and replay several sections of the tutorial while having my camera in my hand. But this worked great. Excellent instructor and not boring.

A truly excellent and thorough drive through the all importants. Building it from the base was brilliant. It's rarely seen in this field where KZbin searchers are distracted by "Top 10 Hacks For Your M50" or whatever and we learn to flit around settings but not really getting INTO them. A couple of things, though: 1:47:17 - in Custom Functions, Release shutter w/o lens allows you to use a third party manual lens (such as my Kamlan 28mm f1.4) Great recommendations on tripods but for more out-and-about I have a Vanguard Veo A-264TR tri-foot monopod with a GH100 pistol grip ball head. Really steady, far more flexible than a tripod, smaller and lighter too. I either carry it in my hand or strap it with velcro to a rucksack. And maybe a footnote on the speedboosters. A distraction from the rest of this great video, perhaps, but they significantly add to the functionality of the camera and the lenses you work with. The EF 50mm f1.8 is a great example. The APS-C crop factor of x1.6 ordinarily gives you a full-frame equivalent of 80mm. The x0.71 speedbooster will bring that back to around 57mm but now you can also drop down to f1.2. I've yet to find a downside to using it
