When you increased the subd, it was just in order to have more *_control_* ? I saw another tut on this GoB (by CC4) that used extra subdiv levels to get more *_detail_* in the final character. He baked this sculpting to a Normal Map, so as to not circumvent the base resolution rule. Is this latter approach also available with DAZ?
@tiedtkeio16 күн бұрын
In order to have a better idea of the final result yes. However that just comes down to personal preference. I could easily see that someone would just like to work with the topology as it is too. Baking high poly sculpting into a normal map is the best way to get more detail and what he did sounds like the correct way of doing it. Please note that I didn't bake or actually apply any subd in Blender - it was just for preview. I haven't used DAZ, but I feel that should definitely be possible yes. Try to make a post on DAZ forum on how to do it. 🙂

So glad I came across this, its a life saver, I was trying to learn Zbrush just for this purpose but more comfortable in blender with sculpting. Thank you

That great! Same here. Tried to learn ZBrush for a year, but never became friends with the controls and interface haha. Blender is so much easier.

@@tiedtkeio do you ever find that hitting the Mesh button does not update in CC4? I get no errors, the console log shows mesh replace success, but I dont see the changes, unless I hit Go cc for a full import. I experiment with changing pose in blender and sent pose back to CC4 and that worked, but not Mesh.

Thank you! This opens up a lot of opportunities! Inspired me to give Go-B a try. BTW Do you know if you can use it to add props e.g. boots, belts, bags etc while connected live? I currently do it the old-fashioned way and just save out all the props as individual fbx and reimport to CC4. It works fine but Go-B looks like it has the potential to make this even easier?
@tiedtkeioАй бұрын
It really does, I love it! I haven't tried that, but since the base principle is that the mesh cannot change vertice count, my guess is that it would not be possible. I think you still need to export and then import into CC4. 😅

I've used GoB for several things but this is the one thing I really was missing and had no idea how to do! I couldn't even find documentation on it. It's like this whole thing is some kind of secret that Reallusion doesn't want you to know. How did you discover this workflow for blend shapes?
@tiedtkeio3 ай бұрын
The documentation isn't the best so to say haha. I discovered it by pure determination. I sat a few hours to figure out the proper workflow. I often do that when I want to force a workflow, try over and over again without documentation until I figure out how it works. 😂🙏

Thanks for sharing this! I'm currently working on a cartoony character, and the biggest challenge is getting the eye blink right. There's no smooth transition with shape keys, so you end up with overlapping meshes, especially with large eyes. It's frustrating! I haven't found a good solution for a smooth transition yet.
@tiedtkeio2 ай бұрын
I'm sure there are better ways going about it, but for my characters I also move the eyeballs back a little in the blink blend shape to the eyeballs physically move out of place. Probably not the most correct approach, but hey it works haha. Thanks for watching! 🙂

@@tiedtkeio Do you know where to get the older versions of CC4? I had an old download in my RLdownloads folder but it was too old.
@tiedtkeio22 күн бұрын
@@kewldrawerings Not really, it's unfortunate that they force update the software. While I wait for an official fix for the issue, right now I recommend the following workflow to import your character back to CC4: 1. Save your character as a project or avatar file in CC4. 2. Send to Blender with Go-B as normal. 3. Change mesh etc in Blender. 4. Use "Send to CC" instead of "Mesh". The materials will be messed up, but mesh updated. 5. Load the saved character in your library, select "Keep character, replace clothes only" and you should get your materials back.
