Stevie Ray was self taught! He also used 14-17 gauge strings! They might as well been CABLES! The strength he had in his fingers to bend those strings. OMG! I was blessed to have see him live before his tragic death in 1990. He is missed by millions, but his music lives on. I loved your reaction to all of his videos. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughn. ❤❤❤

Love my hero Stevie Ray!! I tried when younger to attempt playing his fabulous works of art. Naturally I gave that up very quickly! He played so beautifully, and I wanted to as well. Now I play simple tunes, that I enjoy and realize few are a gift from God as was Stevie Ray. I'll love his music as the best ever I've heard, while having fun plucking off on my Strat and Esquire. God Bless Stevie, I miss him.

Okay, I added two for YOU…Look at SRV at Montreaux 1985 performing *’Tin Pan Alley’ w/guest Johnny Copeland*it’s *The Blues* and I guarantee you that *you won’t regret it* (Little Wing is a beautiful Hendix song without lyrics, btw). God, I love Rude Mood Montreux 1982 and Riviera Paradise at Austin City Limits too. (I added two very different great performances since you asked for three.)

🙌👏✌️💯love, love, love your reaction and you really get him even if only after 3 times watching. We are all still amazed and astonished at his gift of total immersion in the musical river he steps and receives in the moment. No two performances of the same song resembles another. You correctly deduced he is in the moment and lets it go where it wants to take him. Fortunately for us he takes us with him. His music is timeless and fresh each time. I can't imagine it ever getting old and stale as it is simply so many levels above anyone else. A philosopher once said Talent hits the target no one else can hit. Genius hits the target no one else can see. Sums up this man perfectly🎸🎶💙 It is hard for me to even choose a top ten favorite list but let me suggest some to give you a wider appreciation of his various skill sets. Riveria Paradise from Austin City Limits 1989. A song Stevie wrote after his own rehab and recovery dedicated to all those out there still suffering from addiction. It is so beautiful💯 . Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland Montreux Jazz Festival 1985 and everyone' favorite Life Without You Capitol Theatre 1985 which is another song Stevie wrote in memory of his good friend Charley Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner who passed away suddenly. I subbed the first time,you did a Stevie and I am looking forward to more from you. You've only just begun to scratch the surface. 🎸🎶✌️💙💯🎸‼️

Agree with you totally!! I was extremely fortunate to see him I believe it was in December of 1983 when he came through San Diego & played in Montezuma Hall at San Diego State College. I was 23 & went at the urging of one of my good friends & All I can say is having seen him play up close & in person LIVE , he blew me away about like you in this reaction video . The entire performance is occasionally found out in KZbin land , just search “ STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN live in San Diego 1983 “ and hopefully it comes up . To say he was still fired up just like in your video here would be an understatement. I became a life long follower & severely was bummed about his passing in 1990…. Videos do him well , but to have seen him in person left a lasting DEEP appreciation for just how far above every other guitar player he was at that time & pretty much still is to this day . I was never fortunate to have seen Jimi Hendrix play live ( and I was only 9 in ‘69 when he came through San Diego & played at our sports arena), but I think SRV took Hendrix’s Little Wing to a whole higher next level , and all while playing extreme homage to Jimi at the same time . R.I.P. to both of them , probably two of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar and change the way we viewed playing one . Thanks for posting this one again & look forward to seeing you react next time 👍. C-ya

There are actually words to this song - Sting has a nice cover of it... its a great song and a great platform for improvisation
@JayLandon64 Жыл бұрын
Of course, it is Jimi Hendrix that Sting is covering, not SRV, since Little Wing is originally a Hendrix song.

"What is he doing?" If I had a dime for every time I've wondered that while trying to figure out one of his solos bud- I'd be a rich man. Stevie is one of those guys where you can know every note he's playing, exactly- but you still can't execute it and make it sound right. Hendrix is the same way- it's difficult to figure out what he's doing- but its even more difficult once you do figure it out- to actually do it yourself. You'll work on one little phrase for a week and be like "Finally- I did it- I'm superman..." then you remember that's just one line in a five-minute solo from hell- it's going to take months to finally get it all- and then it's still not going to sound right. That's the difference in someone like myself- who really wants to play but isn't especially talented- and someone like Stevie or Jimi that's just born to do it. They instinctively get it in minutes- I work for months and still sound like someone trying to get it, but falling short.
@davidwalker50542 ай бұрын
I totally get what your saying. I idolize Django and I spend months working out some of his little phrases and when I finally find the right notes I sound nothing like Django. And what pisses me off is. He just pulled his solo,s out of the air effortlessly and instantly forgot about them
