Thank you for the translation. The best English version is by Noel Harrison. Of course the lyrics are different. The English lyrics are mainly about the mind; about darkness and caverns and the never ending spinning of the thoughts inside one's head. The French version is about the heart and the circularity of the seasons, the ephemerality of love as brief as footprints on a sandy beach. The French lyrics connect the outside world with the internal word of the heart and the senses whereas the English version look inwards.

My favourite version of this beautful song is by Frida Bouccara joint winner of the Eurovision song contest in 1969. She sadly died in 1996 aged only 55. Have a listen you won't be disappointed.Frida had a lovely warm voice. Greetings from England yours Mark

Well I just listened to that version now because of your recommendation and I am sorry to say I had to stop it in the last minute. I accept the possibility that there is something that I am not grasping with this rendition but to me it was really quite horrible. Not at all sonorous and the backing piano solo only average. The Noel Harrison version is probably the only one I am listening to now. Maybe there is some aspect of musicality I am missing in this however I don't believe that to be the case after a great deal of time, ghastly! Sorry babes, you just keep going on what moves you just not moving with you ATM
