Just stunning, I'm in true awe of this beauty and excitement!! As I have listened to all the recorded grand motets composed by de Lalande, I can definately hear Lalande's later style in this piece, especially with the stretto in the fugues, as well as longer fugues!

Potentially the GREATEST grand motet ever written 🥰🧡 (just about tied with Delalande's 'Confitebor tibi Domine'!)

@@tonyprost5575 Just listened to it!! I'd say less of the raw power compared to Lalande, and also a LOT more 'Italian' influence, as in there are elements of the melodies and harmonies that start to bear similarities to those in Bach and Vivaldi! But ABSOLUTELY STUNNING nonetheless, I will listen through all the Mondonville grand motets in the near future, thank you!

@@tonyprost5575 almost 2 years later - I now love Mondonville probably even more than Lalande!! Thank you so much Tony!

İf one just stops considering this is just one amongst 77 Grands Motets of Delalande, all beautiful, plus a bunch of Petits Motets, plus Leçons de Ténèbres (just to name his major sacred works) conclusion is he's one of most important and genial composer ever. Due to mix of French and İtalian legacies, particularly in his late music, he was called "The Latin Lully". Unfortunately he's less celebrated than Lully, outside France, and it's a shame.

Completely agree ^ its so difficult to find all the existent grand motet recordings online! ):
