My late Father was always singing Matt's songs, and even looked a bit like him. So, it was appropriate for us to play "Softly as I leave You" at my Father's Funeral 10 years ago. Now, I am playing Matt's songs as my Mother is dying at a Nursing Home. God Bless, for You Wonderful Voice. r.i.p Matt.

I was around when he became a "known name". However, I missed him first time around, because I was a big Sinatra fan. I only found Matt Munro about 1 year ago. Since then I have bought up all the cd's I could find. Plus this book that Michelle has written. I adore his voice. He " out sings Sinatra". His range & " his ability to hold a note till the end of the music is incredible. Love that man.

Very interesting to hear her tell her father's story. He had such a mellow voice, always right on pitch, timing was elegant, but there was a lot of competition in that era, NAMES, that excelled. But Matt Monro's singing talent and golden voice truly grows on you when you listen to the many songs he recorded. He was a tremendous talent, and one of my favorite singers long ago and is still to this day. As a musician my whole life, I like many singers on their special hit songs, but Matt could do it all, and his personal touch on any song was memorable!

It is a wonderful book. My son gave me a Kindle on my last birthday. Knowing how much I love Matt Monro, he loaded it with Matt Monro, The Singer's Singer by Michele Monro.I seldom turn on my Kindle without going back and rereading passages I already know well. As an American who lived in England in the 1970s, I knew two musicians who had accompanied Matt Monro in one venue or another. "Genuine," gentleman," "warm," were descriptions they always used for this treasure of an entertainer.

I have purchased this book and it is a wonderful read by a loving daughter. I would recommend it to anyone that loves the singing of Matt Monro and I have been collecting most of his recordings for the last 30 years, and if you need a gift for the holidays, this book would be a great choice.

I just came about his name yesterday and was blown away. I love that style of singing. And Oh Boy!!!! he can sing. WOW! I grew up in the 60/70's and heard of the songs he sung, but did not know of the name of the man. I am hooked on his voice now. Such style and grace. One of a kind. Met Matt in Blackpool when he used to visit winmarith club where I was head barman and he was appearing on north pier with Morcombe and Wise. Wasn’t the wife of the owner of the Winmarith club Ann Wragg? Knew her well when living in Blackpool in the 1990’s. She told me great stories about when Matt would visit the club and also visit them at home. Love his music even now, it never ages.

Why was he drinking a lot and smoking a lot; his wife did not inform him of the consequences of drinking alcohol and smoking? He most probably would have listened to her and seen a doctor. It was too late when his doctor told him to stop drinking and smoking. Sad.
