Michelin Pilot Sport 5 - WET SPEED TESTING THE 225/45R17 PS5

Raw exterior footage of the newly installed Michelin Pilot Sport 5 summer tires, 225/45 R17. SPIRITED DRIVING IN WET WEATHER! In this case on a Seat Leon 5F (MK3) but they will look similar on most Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda 17 inch rims with same tire size (225 45 17)

MY VERDICT:
The grip in wet conditions is very impressive. Braking performance is very strong. Cornering in the wet is impressive too, albeit a little more understeer-biased than I would like. Aquaplaning resistance is very good too: in fairly deep standing water hardly any pulling on the steering wheel up to well over 85 KM/H.

Just got it on my car, after 4 years Continental sport contact 3. Michelin seems to be much noisier. That is disappointing...

Sorry to hear it. I've not driven the Conti's myself, so I don't have the same comparison as you. I can only fairly compare the PS5's to my previous Hankook UHP tires: PS5's are about the same in terms of noise, main difference is more grip in the wet. Other touring tires I've had were quite a bit quieter. But less fun, obviously :-)

At 5:05 in the video, how was the drive in real life?

Well, I drove the same stretch without camera and probably a little faster too and there was zero problems on that surface. Only in really deep standing water and going faster than say 100 km/h you can feel some pulling to the side.

I can neither conform nor deny this. ;-) But I always take good care of my surroundings, especially when filming :-)
