Tatum Swift, it's ok to be old fashioned. I can remember my mom not letting us go to sleepovers at other people's homes but friends were able to come to our house. A 13 year old is definitely interested in a concert and even IF a parent does not allow the child to go, children will still find a way to go... so many kids have gone to concerts without their parents even knowing. Plus it is a parents job to protect that is why the parent goes with their child to the concert or would you have rather the child sneak out a window and go on their own? I think parents do the best they can to keep their children safe. What works in one persons mind may not work in someone elses what works for one child might not work for another. Half the parents who say their child is not doing or going somewhere the child has snuck out and done 10x worse. My point was children will be exposed with or without a parent agreeing in school, social media, all types of things either a parent ensures their childs safety by being there or they do not.

As a parent, you do all you can to keep your children from danger. When my daughter was 18, she wanted to do certain things that I disapproved of and I made it known very loudly. As long as you live in my house, you will not do x or y. Certainly, children sneak out and do crazy shit, but how much control do you really have if someone like Robert is pulling and brainwashing. Dominique was a child and at that age, her brain was not developed enough to make decisions like that. They don’t understand long term consequences. Mom has the responsibility to drill drill drill. Mom is trying to justify the fact that she pretty much gave her blessing for Dominque to go with him. At 18, you are technically an adult, but as a parent, you still don’t give your blessing or remain mute when your child is making mistakes of that magnitude. Very complex situation. In Dominique’s case, did Robert have relations with her prior to her turning 18? If so, that’s statutory rape. Who know how all of this will pan out? I just hope that young lady and all the others get some professional help. They truly need it.

The only parent I can say pimped they child out is the parents of the child in the infamous sex tape video years ago because her father took money and let her continue to live with R Kelly while he was on trial and while she was still a minor! Her father saw what he did to her on that tape and was still playing guitar for him until he got arrested in 2019. If Dominique was 17 and determined to see R Kelly her mom had two choices. #1. raise hell for less than 12 months, have her daughter hate her for it and run off at 18 anyway. #2. 18 may be an adult on paper but it is no where close to grown. Grown means you are honoring God, yourself and your parents, have a job, career, in college and can afford to pay your own bills and make good choices for yourself, also, being responsible. After the mother didn't hear from her daughter after a few days, she should have went to get her daughter. She waited too long in my opinion.
