Was at this performance sitting in 3rd row and this performance was fantastic. Her skating, the crowd, the purple costume -- it just all came together that night. Granted, this isn't "vintage" Michelle but for me it was the best performance of Bolero even with the fall.

it may have looked great in person however i heard from a great source that the choreograher was LESS than pleased that most everything was changed..........unfortunate because as we all know she is a stunning skater!

Totally sexy in that opening scene. These were her clubbing days as she said on her Instagram. An amazing woman in every way!

Even though many fans didn't like the Bolero programs the best, I really liked them. This one in particular is the best performance of Bolero from her despite the fall at the end.

natefan the ice I believe, was slippery. But it was a memorable performance, still.

Now, I could just imagine what this program would've been like if this program hit the full potential. THAT would have been totally unbeatable. However, I've absolutely LOVED watching Michelle Kwan over years, and can just hope to skate 1/100th as well as she does.

it was watered down and not what it was supposed to be

The moment when Michelle said goodbye to the triple loop forever! :(

Ehh she added a 2nd flip later on so...

Yeah. She'd only been skating with an injured hip for 4 seasons at this point. So she ditched the triple loop. Give me a fucking break. She didn't even mention her injury until after she stopped skating competitively and had surgery on it. And you're whining about her not doing the triple loop anymore? Get your priorities in order. And I'd like to see YOU skate at the top level for FOUR years on an injury and not complain about it even once. Or even let anyone else know you were even injured. Michelle Kwan. All Class. You. All ASS.

@@damianlee5438 that's a whole lot of emotion over an innocuous comment about Michelle not performing the jump anymore. I love Michelle and it made me wistful she stopped performing the loop as well.

My favorite dress ever, second only to Nancy's 1993 dress.

Everyone should also remember that at this point in her career no one knew just how bad she was injured.

She was not badly injured here

I agree. I mostly dislike the changes in choreography she made to her programs for many seasons from the beginning to the end. The spinning to the right and then the left is very effective in this program, for example.

Most everything was changed correct and very unfortunate

It always amazes me the steadiness of her performances. Yeah, she feel once in a while. But 90% of the time she completed all her elements - no matter what the pressure. She was just a competitive animal.

A program with an almost 100% lack of transitions, no connecting steps, just crossovers into safe and boring jumps. Hard to believe Christopher Dean choreographed this soulless program.
@carrietremble2 жыл бұрын
Michelle took most of the choreo Chris DID have in there out because she was seriously injured.
@AT-jm4dl5 жыл бұрын
I wish we could've seen the actual Christopher Dean's choreography. Dean was an ice-dancer. There was no way he choreographed this almost transition-less program. The beginning flirty movements were very promising, but unfortunately they were eliminated by the time National and World rolled around. I think MK really did a big disservice to Dean by attributing this work to him after having removed so much of his choreography.
@grantgoffin47742 жыл бұрын
I think her damaged hips hurt on the more complex choreography almost more than the jumps. That would explain the obvious stripping down of Dean's real choreography IMO. Would love to see a younger Michele skate the real Christopher Dean choreographed Bolero.

I see MK skating to this music that is synonymous with Torvill and Dean. I thought this music was not a good choice for her.

Because Michelle was more of a ballerina and Carolina was more of a ballroom dance. You know?

Carolina Costner was a spectacular skater!!!! And maybe more moving than Michelle with her performance to this music. Not many skaters have ever done that.
@sezwho74713 жыл бұрын
Always been a huge fan and still am, but I agree this program never reached its full potential. Seems as though she just went through the motions....the only shining moment choreographically is he straight line footwork at the end, otherwise, kinda flat.
@damianlee54384 жыл бұрын
You realize she had an injured hip for FOUR FUCKING YEARS at this point right? Damned wannabe fans.
@GaryGarlic3 жыл бұрын
It was a flat program that got flatter as the season went on. Her best programs were with Lori Nichol with Song of the Black Swan the best Michelle had ever been.
@snopesshop19034 жыл бұрын
Not feeling this program as much as her Lori Nichols programs
@ManuelPabloArnao10 жыл бұрын
i love michelle. there's nothing new or exciting about this program though- i can't see any choreography, can you? it looks like so many of her post 2000 programs. shame.
@ShaefDawg9 жыл бұрын
ManuelPabloArnao I actually think that this program had a lot more choreography going on for this type of music. Some of the movements and positions Michelle performed were somewhat different and more interesting than some of her past programs. Having Christopher Dean choreograph this program was an excellent move for Michelle... I just wish she didn't have to water down the choreography for Nationals and Worlds.
@damianlee54384 жыл бұрын
This looks like Song of the Black Swan (2001) and Scheherazade (2002). Ya know if you're going to bitch, at least get your fucking information right!
@jjh24565 жыл бұрын
She should have taken 2004 or 2005 off and gotten healthy. There was no reason she should have the loop and stopped doing 3/3 combos.
@damianlee54384 жыл бұрын
Um, bitch please. She took THREE years off the ice after her surgery to fix her hip. There was no way she could have even tried to make it to 2006 and be competitive if she had the surgery right away.
