Hey Michelle you can add black out window film or frosted film on your kitchen window and washroom window. So you can have your curtains apart during the day but have privacy. Just make sure to close the curtains after sunset.

I agree. Even there's no intention to be used as heating source but still cosy to look. It adds so much more character than a white wall and cheap shelves.

I thought the original fireplace was more cozy and I must admit that it hurt my heart a little when they removed the gorgeous wall molding from the room. It adds so much character to the home. Same! It honestly hurt my heart a little 😢, though of course it is important she is happy with her own home. I think she is used to a very basic, utilitarian homestyle. But geez that fireplace and the moulding was so perfect and fit the overall tone of her gorgeously designed house.

​@@penguinswithwifi I loved the original mid-century tile backsplash that was behind the stove. It matched the kitchen so well with the gold cabinet pulls. She hung black curtain rods so maybe she's going to get rid of all the gold handles too? I think she prefers a more modern aesthetic. 🤷‍♀

The fireplace and wall mouldings are nice. Typical for a Victorian, English styled home with a manor/countryside feel but Michelle’s aesthetic is much more mid century modern, she’s got the midcentury designer poulsen lamp and her chairs are reminiscent of the Hansen chairs too so I understand why she’d get rid of the mouldings and fireplace.

Agreed. A partial backslash can work if the paint color of the kitchen wall ties in nicely with the backsplash tiles. In this case the wall is white so the backsplash is too noticeable and doesn’t blend in nicely with the rest of the wall.
