great advice michelle notes: if you see a patient on the floor-- call for help (staff assist), take OBS but calling the family is not an immediate action if the patient has chest pain-- nurse initiated measures to be done are take OBS and ECG; give medications if they are standing orders but these are not nurse initiated measures

Paitient in the floor- straight away rapid A to E assessment and so on. It take not more that 2 min. It saves life. Chest pain- priority- quick- pqrst, relief pain and so on.

From my recent interviews it is perfectly fine to ask about patient ratios and pay rate. Although pay rate is typically state standard if its a public hospital. Private may have a different rate.

Hi Michelle, Would you mind telling me casual hours per week? Like how many shifts do you get? I am in dilemma whether to accept the casual position or not. Had my interview few days ago and went really good. I have got another job in nursing home in different location. I would really appreciate if you could share your experience on working hours and chances of turning to full time. Thanks

Hi there, the benefits of being casual is that you dont have fixed hours or days to work, you get big hourly rate ranging from $35- 40 but the tax is massive and you dont get penalty rates, you dont get sick leave, you dont get annual leave.

@@MichelleFiskilis I am a casual Mental Health Nurse While I don’t get Sick leave or Annual leave, I do get 25% extra for weekdays and 1.87 % for weekends and more for Public Holidays Also get Afternoon or Night shift penalty or shift Hope this helps

age and background are not relevant to a job interview. i always ask the interviewers in my 3rd question. "If i will be successful in this interview, what will be the award im getting?"
