I've been a consistent user of the re'equil purple shampoo and then follow up with the re'equil murumuru conditioner and would get moderate softness and shine during the wash day and then my hair would get frizzy from the next day. I've recently started incorporating argan oil in my pre poo (I know you've said in a different video that applying oil over the lengths of dirty hair doesn't make sense but I tried that out as a bit of an experiment😅), but the results have been fabulous. My hair was extremely shiny and soft for the next five days. I'm really at a loss to understand my hair's weird behaviour, and was hoping you'd throw some light on it so that I take care of it better. I think I have about 2a/2b waves and I don't follow strict cg as such. I wash my hair about once in five days and currently living in a place which is located at the south eastern coast of India, where it gets pretty humid most of the year. I also have zero clue about whether my hair is low porosity or high porosity, because it seems to behave differently on different days, but so far I'm leaning towards low porosity. I don't use heat on my hair at all and never coloured it before. I've also experimented with other oils like coconut, olive, sesame, mustard and groundnut for pre poo. All of them were pretty meh except the argan one. Really apologize for this long essay!
@MichelleManuel
@MichelleManuel 3 жыл бұрын
It's a clarifying shampoo. You could oil your lengths if you're using it. The problem of build up will only occur if you're using a cg friendly shampoo, in which case getting rid of the oil would be an issue. If you use an oil on the lengths before clarifying, you prevent your hair from drying out during the shampoo process. So sounds about right. Some oils are better suited for certain hair types. Have a look at this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6ncXqOsl5ypY7M

Thank you so much!!💖 Love all your videos! I'm 3 months into CG now so I'm just beginning to see the difference with protein/moisture products. I have a question though - I get a lot of wet frizz. Is there a way to reduce that? Also - been using the Mamaearth rice water keratin products and they're so good! There's 3 sources of keratin but not in the top 5 of the ingredient list and it's CG approved. Just thought I'd recommend (: Anyways, thank you!

Ive realized recently after seeing your video that my hair is well moisturized but lacks protein. It feels soft,cool but has no definition. It stretches to a certain extent and then breaks. And great point about clarifying. Also, a small suggestion. could you please do a video reviewing mousse as a styler, of course adding your impeccable research and personal experience.
@MichelleManuel
@MichelleManuel 3 жыл бұрын
A mousse works well as a single styler. Gives you fairly decent hold. I used the enliven mousse in my post workout refresh video. However, I've used other cg mousses that are not available in india. From my experience I can say that the enliven mousse is just about ok. Nothing to write home about. Gives you a level 2 hold if you use a crazy amount of it. Look at how much of it I used in my upside down styling video. When I use the Umberto Giannini mousse, I need 1/4 the amount and the hold is far superior. That being said, for my hair, without a strong gel, it will be frizz city in a few hours. So although I don't mind refreshing with a mousse, I choose not to rely on it as a single styler on my washday. If I don't want near perfect results, I would do with a mousse. The drying time would be incredibly short. Btw Brad Mondo has a styling foam for textured hair. I've seen him reacting to videos of curly girls using his foam.

@@MichelleManuel Also I wanna suggest you try using MORPHEME REMEDIES products. those are better version of wow and doesn't contain artificial fragrance. My hair responded very well to the shampoos and conditioner!
@MichelleManuel
@MichelleManuel 3 жыл бұрын
@@ashimamehra6421 thanks so much! I will definitely check the brand out. I think it all depends on the acv to water ratio. If you use too much, it will be too acidic and that could be potentially damaging. It could, in this case be better to just clarify with a shampoo. Clarifying will remove all the buildup that acv ordinarily does. It won't give your hair that shine that comes with acv, but if buildup is the issue, it's an easy fix. Brands like Love beauty planet, faith in nature, requil, fab india shampoos are some brilliant options for clarifying.

@MichelleManuel

Ok so cowashing is using conditioner as a shampoo. In my opinion, it doesn't work out well for the Indian climate. We have too much polution and humidity here for it to thoroughly cleanse your hair. Use a shampoo like the moms co shampoo instead. It's gentle and moisturising. If you have an irritated itchy scalp speak to a dermatologist. See if you can switch to a more moisturising shampoo. Check for dandruff. Check for irritation. Start using a dc like the shirolepam hair mask by just herbs which is scalp safe. I have a video on it. Try watching my video on the acv rinse. There are many steps you can take to set the issue right. ❤️

Hey Michelle! Thank you for this video first of all. I had a concern. My hair seems to have definition and curl pattern on day one… but on day 2 and 3 , they just get frizzy and my hair looks oily. I use the curl up leave in cream and i guess its a moisturising cream. Does my hair looking oily a sign of moisture overload? Also its just my 2nd month of CGM, and i haven’t used any protein based products.

Hi, I'm new to cg. 2 months in. I'm using the following: •Wow hard water shampoo( the water in my area sucks🙄) •Re'equil conditioner ( I alternate between babasu and murumuru) •Ashba leave in conditioner • a little serum once the hair is dry. My hair feels weighed down after I use the leave in conditioner every time. With just the shampoo and conditioner, it becomes frizzy. I air dry my hair, have recently begun ploppoing it. Hair isn't coloured/treated. Should I use a protein mask? Please help.

@MichelleManuel 3 жыл бұрын
Using egg won't really help give you protein as the molecules won't penetrate the hair cuticle. I have a budget friendly products video which you can have a look at. You'll find my most budget friendly recommendations. However you must note that if you don't follow cg (as you have straight hair), silicone withdrawal is bound to happen. If you decide to use cg products, you hair will look dull for a while until the silicones are knocked out of your hair. Many moisture products do have a bit of protein in them, lower down in the list. I think maybe try watching the video and make an informed decision. Hope this helps ❤️

As we known that Flax seeds are a great source of plant-based protein...that being said...does its gel also contain protein or free from protein?!

Flaxseed is a source of protein however we don't consider it a protein option for our hair. It is categorised as a film forming humectant which acts similarly to a large protein.

Okay I started cg journey based on your first video basically all the products I own are moisture based. So I think my hair would need some protein. Do you think Diys like egg based hair mask will fulfill the protein requirement and go deep in cuticles or should I make an investment on some protein based products? I have high porosity hair.
@MichelleManuel
@MichelleManuel 3 жыл бұрын
No no. Don't rely on a DIY. If you for sure have high porosity hair, get the curl up leave in cream and the wow black spruce bark extract mask. That should give you enough small to medium proteins. Once in a blue moon, you can try a rice water rinse or a gelatin diy for a dose of large proteins. (With caution) (If you got the stuff I recommended in my first video, you'll see the shampoo and gel do contain protein but they're lower down in the ingredient list.

@MichelleManuel
@MichelleManuel 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no. It took me a few weeks to rectify this in my case. Clarify your hair with a sulphate shampoo and go product free for a day or two. Then shampoo, do an avc rinse. Then style. Make sure your product line up only has moisture ingredients. You'll come out of the protein shock in a few weeks time because protein tends to linger on, on the hair long after use and despite several washes. If you don't see even a slight difference after your first week clarify again and style as usual with only moisture products. Things will be back to normal in no time.

A few possible issues: 1. You are in curl transition and your hair needs curl training 2. You have high porosity hair and are using products that are not heavy enough for you. 3. You're using too little gel. You're not getting a strong cast. Your gel has light hold. 4. You're not following a post wash routine.
