I love this line as well, but I always took it as him referencing reincarnation. “We’re one in the river and one again after the fall” Saying the river is our reality and the fall is our death. After the fall we are reincarnated and back into the river again.

System has dozens of great songs! You really can’t go wrong. I’d recommend BYOB next. Their guitarist Daron also does amazing harmonies and also lead vocals on many of their songs too and has a very distinct voice that perfectly complements Serj’s voice. Check out their songs “vicinity of obscenity” and “IEAIAIO” for some really funny vocal deliveries that are fun tongue twisters!

Quickest summary of meaning that I can come up with because they are complex and deep thoughts and I don’t want to write a book on this for 10 people to read. Basically we’re all looking up at these rich people with the big house, cars, possibly fame, etc. and we strive for these things thinking they’ll make us happy. That line you mensioned: "we drink from the river then we put up our walls" - I love this line because to me its saying that our society is a selfish one, in that man will find something that is resourceful to all (natural resources, fresh produce, livestock etc) and he will claim it as his own and put a price tag on it.
