Michigan Central Station before and after restoration

MLive visited Detroit's Michigan Central Station in 2018 and again just last month to witness its transformation. Ford is turning the formerly vacant historic building, which dates back to 1913, into a state-of-the-art mobility hub, with commercial public space and multiple outdoor plazas. Brings tears to my eyes, I drove by the station everyday many years, even went with my parents to drop my brother off to leave for Vietnam 1967, What a beautiful accomplishment by Ford and all the craftsmen involved. Thanks, from Downriver.

They're probably going to reopen the station either still as a train station (and a major transportation hub) or for a different purpose (since its Ford but idk), but I am happy to see what was once an abandoned historical site, now getting a new lease of life.

Ford is using them for office space and eventually a hotel on the top of the building. Ford will develop autonomous driving and ev plans here.
