What a fantastic speech. I'm a German-born Australian. Born in 1950 I have learned about our terrible history in school. Not from my parents. They did not like what we learned but these were the facts. I never felt responsible for the past but I learned that I have a responsibility. Whenever I see something happen that is not in line with simple humanitarian beliefs I will intervene. So, American children are in danger? As soon as they learn the facts they will not feel guilty but do better "for writing the new chapter". I have lived for a while in America and I love the country and most of the people. Our country's founders -- who were of different religious backgrounds themselves -- knew the best way to protect religious liberty was to keep the government out of religion. So they created the 1st Amendment -- to guarantee the separation of church and state. This fundamental freedom is a major reason why (until now) the US has managed to avoid a lot of the religious conflicts that have torn so many other nations apart. But now government is invading our homes, our bedrooms, ....even work places. This country was established by our ancestors who on the most part came to escaped authoritarian and discriminating governments. What has happened to our country? We have only the rights of being responsible for our actions towards others. Remember ....do un to others as you want done to you...Thats it. Plus how do we learn or teach how to progress into a future if we continue to repeat wrongs? Did our ancestors come here so we could take this country & become what they escaped from? Plus past ... the true past shows our children what not to do again that brought death, destruction & bigotry to so many innocent people. ENOUGH of teaching hate in this country... truth does not lead to hate of oneself. ENOUGH of proclaiming hypothetical actions as supposed Christianity. ENOUGH of twisting words of our constitution to suit anyone person's beliefs or culture. We need more like this lady as our politicans.
